Finally had my Ramona cherry popped. She did something no other scam artist has ever done: she admitted to me she was bullshitting. Noontime, wednesday, 5/15, she nabs me the second I come down off the ped bridge heading for la zona. I let her talk for a full minute, then whitey hit her with spanish. she stopped in her tracks. she started asking me all sorts of friendly questions (she had already told me she was born in Wyoming and is not fluent in spanish!). She kept going back to english but I told her I never speak ingles on the street in Mexico. She walked with me all the way to constitution. She of course did the bakery girls thing, told her I fare quite well on my own and and that SG's are everywhere, not just in front of the bakery. She laid the beans for the kids line on me, said it cost u.s. $3.25 to get a big bag. I stopped in my tracks, told her that makes me mad, that she is getting ripped off by some merchant, because I know a place a block away that will sell "us" a 10 lb. bag for $1.50. 'Let's go, I'll buy it and carry it for you to the bakery'. She then stopped in her tracks, and in english said, "aw, you're too smart for me. Take care'. Drunk with success, I actually called out to her as she was walking away, 'hey, what about the kids at the bakery', but no response.

handled quite well! at first glance she seems harmless enough (albeit an admitted scammer), but the police seem to have a different opinion of her. As mentioned previously, she started chatting with a buddy of mine and the cops swooped in with the paddywagon and drove him around town before letting him out ($40 poorer). Anyone with any past drug history (and who knows how she supplements her income) is to be avoided - guilt by association and all that.

Boy you really got to be green, or scared to death to use Ramona. But she`s actually probally helped a FEW while she was ripping off all the rest. Least we be most thankful that she`s not trying to sell sex, so I guess she`s o.k. - with an asterick *

Overheard this last nite- RJ Avisar to Ramona on Adelita`s corner: Stay away from that one Tull, she`s a rotten apple. RJ- Hey old hag you still owe me $40. Pay me. I avoid most locals and especically English speaking ones on the street. I've heard of too many stories of being harassed by police if they see you talking to some of them.

Intercepted me and claimed it was her 47th birthday today: "Where`s my gift?" Did I get suckered or not? Still hear RJ Avisar telling her "You still owe me money you old hag"!
