I read in the paper today about the proposed new pedestrian bridge linking San Ysidro and TJ. Below is two brief quotes from the article.
"TIJUANA – A U.S. developer's proposal to build a pedestrian bridge connecting a new commercial enter in San Ysidro to Tijuana's downtown should show more benefits for the Mexican city's economy, several council members said yesterday. "
One concern that the nice people building this bridge for us has is that "southbound pedestrians would first have to walk through a seedy part of town known for its prostitutes and rough bars."
I would think that is would be a bonus. Wonder what the possibility is that TJ politicians will use this as an excuse to shutdown ZN?
Your thoughts?

i've seen artists conceptions and the elevated bridge ends up right under the new arch.
Certainly a new crossing will take time, but if it's one-way (only into Tj) i wonder if that will require as much involvement from the two governments - maybe that's why the developer feels it could be done by 2003. Setting up a new checkpoint in/out of Mexico would certainly take a lot more time.

What do the taxi unions think about this new bridge?
