Vittorios - Italian restaurant

Vittorios is located on Revolution and 9th.

They make a pretty good pizza. A personal pan style pizza is about 20 pesos. There is no need to ask for extra cheese the pizzas are covered with a thick layer of mozzarella. They offer eat in or carry out. I didn’t get a chance to try any of their other food but they offer everything from pastas to sandwiches.

Caveat: Very good pizza FOR TJ.

Most of the menu is very good though not exactly outstanding, and portions are generally gigantic...you will be able to feed the hungry of TJ with the leftovers. One of the best things about Vittorio's is that it is open into the wee hours on weekends and until midnight or so during the week. IMO, its the best late night dinner available in downtown TJ after hours.

I brought a chica to Vittorio's late one night after she told me she liked Italian food. She ordered spaghetti with Italian sausage - took one bite of the sausage, made a face, spit a wad of chewed sausage back onto her plate and let out an earthy "Guaca!!" After this demonstration I had to taste one of the pristine chunks of sausage on her plate, and it was purely DELICIOSA! Some chicas, you can't take them anywhere and they don't exactly possess educated taste buds.

Btw, the restaurant is owned and operated by an extremely nice senior couple from Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, NYC (or as Archie Bunker would say, Bensonhoyst). They have tried to create an authentic NYC Italian restaurant in downtown Tijuana of all places. I would LOVE to know what brought them to TJ.

WHAT? Coming from a man who has a "Ricardo's" charge card!

I love Ricardo's more for the bright cheerful ambience and people watching more than the food. But all the food is good enough for us non-pro eaters. When I get up in the morning (around 2PM), I want that Desayuno Poblano...best omelette I've eaten in TJ. Also recommend the blintz-style Quesadillas and Avocado Salad...oh, don't forget the seriously delicious malteadas (milk shakes muy suave) and bakery pasteles. Otherwise, not too much I've found exciting to eat at Ricardo's. Dinner time, Vittorio's is the place to eat in that neighborhood...but isn't open at zona quitting time (4-6am) as Ricardo's is (so I guess I'm eating dinner when others are eating breakfast, and breakfast in mid-afternoon...upside down living in TJ).

RE: what brought the owners of Vittorios to Mexico: the husband, Vittorio, is born and bred in Mexico. the wife is from New York as Erip adroitly states. Vittorio use to be an opera singer travelling europe; there are fotos of him in his youth. She told me they moved to mexico/got married in the 60's and all their kids live in mexico. they are a charming couple. her spanish is much better than his english.
Great restaurant for a date, candle lit dinners, excellent wait staff, etc.

I love this restaurant as they make great pasta and pizzas. My favorite pizza is their pepperoni and mushroom.

The ambience is tranquil and it is decorated very tastefully and the music is mellow. The staff is courteous and the place is spotless. The owners as has been mentioned are very sweet and kind people. I shall return!!!

'Great'? I'd agree it's not 'bad', but 'great'??? Have you ever been to Saverios?

Hi Porker,

I enjoyed the food at Vittorio's on my last visit and felt that I owed them at least one superlative. Tastes vary as so much of life is subjective. My aim now is not so much to be objective as it is to enjoy the present moment as the fleeting sands of time go flying by.

My biological clock is ticking and there are no pampers in my future. Well, perhaps there are 'depends'. One day I hope to taste from the forbidden fruit of Angeles city. I must forego the TJ scene in order to be able to do this though.

I enjoy your comments about PI and your insights in general. Happy Trails, Lancer

I've taken sgs on dates here and they love it. there is a place down rev that's better. It's further south on rev, then when it splits, take the raod to the left, not up the hill. you will see it a few blocks down on the rightside, next to a bank. very hard to miss. they have something called white minestrone soup that is to die for. i went with a las vegas chef and he was thouroughly impressed with that soup as well.
