Apparently, if you want to show your Spanish skills off to the cab driver, its actually pronounced "peh-rees." A couple of years ago a cab driver recommended it to me. However, the subsequent monger's reviews did not make it look that attractive so I hadn't tried it before Tuesday night. Last week, while hanging out in AB on Thursday afternoon, a guy I was talking to gave it a good recommendation, so I thought I'd give it a try for my planned over-nighter.

I got there around 6:30 p.m. and signed up for a room. As promoted, it was $37 plus a $10 deposit for the key and remote. The first thing that happened, after giving the cute little desk clerk two twenties for the rent, was getting my $3 change in quarters (at least it wasn't Pesos).

I was given room 305, which is actually on the forth level. I walked in and - surprise. Construction zone. The shower was torn out as were most of the walls and there were two or three barrels of demolition rubbish in the middle of the room. OK, back downstairs.

Next try was 308. No problem here except it was small - I mean way small. The main room about 10x10 with no closet and no dresser. The bath about the size of the ones in the Leyva. It had a window that opened on 5'th and a TV that worked, complete with a porn channel. Two big towels and one small bar of soap. It was well worn, but clean.

Later, when I picked up my evening's entertainment, she was actually impressed. First, it was clean. Particularly the sheets - heavy duty, pure white with almost a starched feel (no, not from cum!). Second, it had a working TV. Third, she actually liked the small size - said it wouldn't be drafty during the night. Most important of all - it was away from ZN. I've seen it posted many times, and its true. The girls like a night away from ZN - even if they don't live there.

No problem bringing the lady in. Don't know about multiple ladies. During the night there were a few instances of female giggling out in the hall, so I suspect there are some good times being had there. There is a restaurant just to the West of the entrance, that's open 24 hours.

When I checked out I got another surprise - my $10 deposit was returned in quarters. I had to unload at the metal detector at the border.

I wouldn't go out of my way to stay there again, but the lady liked it and wants to stay there again.

There is also a shitty SG short-time hotel by that name on Calle Primera between Avenida Ninos Heroes and Constitucion (very near ninos heroes) on the south side.

(My first Tijuana experience in 1996)

Typically I have been very happy with Hotel Paris, but last night was thw worst. Typically I have had nice clean rooms with AC, clean sheets, towels, etc. Last night they were too full and when I opened the room that they gave me, no AC, no window, very small room, and as I discovered at the wrong time, no toilet paper. I now know to be specific at the desk when I get the room. So many times it was no problem, I didn't even think to ask when I checked in about what I was getting.

I am amazed that there are no reports on the penthouse suites at Hotel Paris. For 400 pesos and change, you get an extra large room with airconditioning, and a large bathtub with room for 2.

Where is Hotel Paris exactly and how do you say "Penthouse" en espanol? Thanks!

Near the Carl's Jr.

Just ask for the 5th floor.

Tried the Paris last night, and I have to agree with Kyle above. Room was dirty, the shower did not work. Went back down and got moved to 308. About the same, but the lights ans shower did work. Hot water had a bad habit of discharging wads of black gunk at random intervals. They got a bit of flack about the key deposit.

Happily ensconsed at Villa Zaragoza again, for about $8 more. Nice large clean room, lots of clean hot water, quit, etc. So much for the experiment.

Were you on the 5th floor?

By Jose on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 - 02:57 pm:  Edit

Checked this place out. Stayed in a room on the second floor. As mentioned in a prior post the room is way small. Price was 68 for two nights. No shampoo so bring your own. Was clean though. Way too much noise from Revo though. Tried the penhouse the second night. Was pretty nice, spacious and all but no soundproofing. When the occupants of the other penthouse returned could hear ever noise Even their shoes hitting the floor as they took them off. Except for that would definitely stay there again, maybe even anyway. Charged me 18 more for this room

Staying here right now and got a room a back but it is side with disco. Hell the music vibrates all the way into my room.

Charged with $35. Changed rooms to street side. overall not bad since LVZ was full. Will try Hotel Leon next time.

By Explorer8939 on Saturday, November 27, 2004 - 06:17 pm:  Edit

I hate to say this, but Hotel Leon is a dump compared with the Hotel Paris. The only advantage of the Leon is that it is across the street from a hooker bar, of sorts.

By Pecs82001 on Sunday, November 28, 2004 - 09:34 am:  Edit

Any thing is better than the noise at Paris. Changed rooms last nightto other side and worse noise from clubs on Revo.

Got tofind alternative.

Maybe Hotel America. Any comments?

By Milkman on Sunday, November 28, 2004 - 11:38 am:  Edit

Sorry Pecs
I forgot to Mention that. Actually they do have rooms away from the clubs/noise but I beleive most of the working girls rent those by the week/month
I had one before and it was smaller than the others but clean and no noise
That was the night I spent the whole time in the bathroom puking up tequila

By Pecs82001 on Sunday, November 28, 2004 - 03:55 pm:  Edit

Hey Milky,

No problem, it was a great learning experiment.

your neighbors must enjoyed hearing a gringo puking his guts out. I can hear my neighbor farting and pissing.

Hotel Paris
Calle Emiliano Zapata 8181
(Intersection of Revolucition & 5th)
$32 for a simple or sencilla, good deal, room medium size. also have to leave $8 for deposit (Key????), don't worry, you get the money back when checking out!!!cable tv and a porno chanel. never try to bring a girl but think it should not be a big deal. i kind of like it and didn't mind outside noise (wasn't that loud). i've stayed here a few times and is a good choice to other hotels in town.///

By Explorer8939 on Wednesday, February 08, 2006 - 10:27 pm:  Edit

My only complaint about this hotel is that there is a fairly high crime rate - I had a bottle of wine stolen from inside my room, during a period of the day when I was walking outside. Someone either had a duplicate key, or used a credit card to get into the room. I also vaguely recall when I was sleeping in the room, that someone opened the door (another guest), saw me inside, and split. But I could have dreamt that one.

Marcopolo, thanks for the report. I've heard some good word of mouth about this hotel. A little more info please? Heat?; A/C?; Parking?

By Reytj on Thursday, February 09, 2006 - 04:36 pm:  Edit

Erip

Hotel Paris doesn't have parking. I seem to recall them having heat however.

Erip; I'm back in TJ for just a flash, business in San Diego bring to this part of the world. Stay again in Hotel Paris and the rate i paid was $36 + 10 for deposit (Room key), this is kind of strange!!!!. well, room is regular size, bed ok and soft. a/c cable tv w/porno chanel (#11), full bath w/hot water, you get 2 old towels but clean plus 2 bars of soap. rooms are in need of maintenance and cosmetic surgery but in a town like TJ this is a bargain, heck, the whole hotel needs some maintenance, still, see the management always trying to clean it up on a daily basis. sorry, no parking and no room service, no hotel restaurant and no fridge in the room. i did ask about weekly rates and was quoted $27 a night or $189 weekly; don't think is bad for a deal. going to ask if they have a monthly deal!!!! there is always a girl or older lady at the front desk (chatting w/her friends), in the evening a night clerk takes over from the girls manning the front desk. now, like somebody said about having a bottle of liquor stolen from his room or somebody going in and taking off after seeing him inside, i honestly believe him but i think this hotel is safe and i myself wouldn't put myself in danger if i have serious doubts about personal safety. i wouldn't stay for example in the hotels in the red light district area, people have been known to have been robbed in their hotels, know that for a fact and wouldn't reccomend sleeping in the Zona norte. i've seeing a few Americans partying at the Paris w/friends intheir rooms (drinking parties!!!!). If you want to spend a few more dollars then i would go to the Hotel Zaragoza. nevertheless, i'm easy to please and this Paris hotel is very reasonable.////

For a few more dollars nothing comes close to the safe brand new Hotel Santiago.

"For a few more dollars nothing comes close to the safe brand new Hotel Santiago"

However it has neither heat nor a/c although it does have limited parking.
