According to Marisol, there is a 14 ficha minimum at BT these days. If she reaches the 14 fichas, she gets the fichera pay of 80 pesos at day, plus $$ for the fichas, which I believe are 30 pesos. However, she was telling me that she gets only 210 pesos for the fichas, so something is off there.

Then, she gets a salary for stripping, which I forgot, but its 200 or 300 pesos a shift. PLUS, the dollars that the cheap bastards give her as tips. At this point, I was considering marrying her for her money, and told her so.

That's when she told me she was leaving for good.

I was unaware that at Tropical the 'morras' could double dip ie draw base pay ie 'sueldo' as both bailarinas and 'damas de piso' the current industry euphemism for ficheras.

This may actually be true - if a bailarina wants to play ficha, she should be liable for the same ficha minimum as the others and so get the 80 peso sueldo. Otherwise, what would be the incentive for the bailarinas to work for fichas, other than the couple of dollars that they might pick up if they hang around for an entire shift.


Of course, the chica in question started out just doing the ficha thing and only later graduated to dancing, so maybe she knew the sueldo and was just trying to impress me with her earnings. As I said, I was nearly blind drunk, and speaking a foreign language, so you will have to excuse an inaccuracies in my report.

In Tropical the dancers get 300 pesos sueldo if they earn 14 or more fichas as well. If they get less than 14 fichas they get 200 pesos salary. Plus tips of course.

This is probably the more accurate report. So, my chica friend was making 300 pesos a day salary for ficha + dancing. plus the ficha money plus dancing tips, maybe 500 pesos plus some number of dollars per day on a good day, and around 250 pesos per day plus a handful of dollars on a bad day. Not bad for a young chica, assuming 20 working days a month, that might approach $1000 a month, I could live on that in Mexico.

There are expenses also. It is normal for the dancers there to tip the DJ three dollars and the lady in the dressing room five dollars for watching their stuff. Then they pay $10/per day if they are living in the hotel.

$5 for the lady in the dressing room? I had always heard that it was $1.

Marisol claimed to live in an apartment (probably with her novio), so her rent was not as high as most of the chicas at BT who DO live upstairs.

You are all right, the girls think NOTHING of paying 100 plus pesos a day to stay at the bar's affiliated hotel when they could easily share a NICE apartment for a tiny % of the cost. The retarded FOB's get to Tropical and think their only living option is to live at the attached hotel, then they freak out because they can't afford the rent.

Do any clubs require the chicas to stay at the affiliated hotel? Or maybe by staying there, there is some sort of an occupational advantage?

2 reasons why the chicas stay at the hotel:

1) They get the first 8 or 9 days free rent at the hotel when they arrive.

and

2) It is very convenient, when they drink too much, too just go upstairs and pass out. If they don't have the kids with them, it seems like a good deal.

Not really. The chicas really don't trust each other, and there is a lot of interchica crime up in the hotel. I read something similar about the girls in Thailand, they both rely on their female co-workers for advice and comfort, but don't trust them.
