Surprise insight into how Adelitas recruits new chicas...

I was in Adelitas Bar yesterday afternoon. I met an attractive and very nice lady who seemed a bit shy and out of place. Eventually she told me that she had been in Tijuana for only two days. She is from Mazatlan and saw an advertisement in a Mazatlan newspaper for employment opportunities in Tijuana. The ad specifically said that there were jobs available as waitresses at Adeletas. When she arrived in Tijuana and came to Adeletas she discovered the real situation. She has no friends here, no family, and they placed her in a room in the hotel over Adeletas without a TV set. She is plenty scared about Tijuana and also bored with no real friends/social contact. I was a bit surprised at this because while I had heard about this out-of-town newspaper ad hustle associated with Tropical Bar, I never associated Adeltas with this sort of thing. I took her up to the hotel and there is no question that she really did not know how to handle herself professionaly in this type of situation, but was sincere and it all worked out OK. I had some mixed feelings about this, her situation, etc.

Aaaaand ... this is a surprise, exactly ... how?



It's not news to me. I too would have some mixed feelings about taking her "up" when she's not into being a working girl, but I'm sure many of us have known about the ways that girls get coaxed onto the slippery slopes that slip down towards prostitution. please folks. she went upstairs--no one made her go upstairs. i'm telling you ab doesn't have to scam women to work in their bar. ever see a shorage of ab women? i'm not saying this can't happen but i know for fact that chicas use this line to try to get custumers to go into their pockets and buy a bus ticket for a return. sometimes they get on the bus and sometimes they don't.

And what is her name? I'll be down there next week and want to give her a shot. What are her hours?

I have to agree with Sampson. Since any chica working at Adelitas has to apply for and receive a health card, it's a little difficult to buy wholeheartedly the "I was tricked to turn tricks" sort of thing. And I do believe that the management of AB out of pure self interest makes sure that ALL chicas have at least something resembling a healthcard.

Now could she get to TJ, be totally unaware of what was expected, see the zona for what it is, and not have the money to return home? Sure, but it doesn't necessarily follow that turning tricks is her only alternative. Waitressing and ficha chicas come to mind.

Was she new? Certainly sounds like it.

Was she nervous and unsure of herself in her chosen career path? Undoubtedly.

But did Adelitas (Or Tropical for that matter) force her to turn tricks through trickery? I don't see it.

These women may be naive, put they're not stupid. Anyone seeing the zona for 30 seconds getting off a bus has to realize what the story is.

Now on the other hand, and I'm not saying this is so in this case, but what a great line to feed a guy. "I'm new, your my first paying customer, I really don't know how to act, I will very reluctantly go upstairs with you". Now how many of us could resist a pitch like that if she can carry it off?

These girls arrive at TJ without money, so bars let them work without health card for several days, during which they can make money for cards.

At Tropical, the girls are given several weeks for tryouts. If they don't like the work, they will be sent home at the bar's expense. That's the story I heard.

Add my voice to the skeptics choir on this one. If she came to Tijuana to be a waitress, a waitress she could be. Walk around town and you will notice restaurant after restaurant and bar after bar posting "Se Solicita Meseras" notices.

Prostitution is not exactly the kind of profession that an innocent adopts merely because she happens to get off the bus on a street named Coahuila.

I am aware that Bar Tropical is known to bring in youngsters under these kinds of false pretenses, but unlike AB, the BT environment permits a gradual transformation from fichera or mesera to full fledged puta for those girls who are so inclined.

Well, the coercion at Tropical was supposedly due to the rooming situation. They supposedly got a week or so free at the hotel where they were to work as hostesses or waitresses or whatever. After that the rent started accumulating, and at 10-12 bucks a day or whatever to share a room, it was more than their ´salary´, and thus they had to come up with ways to make money just to stay in their hotel. Never mind that they would walk around the corner and rent a bigger single room for $150 a month.... That would mean they´d be all alone in the scary big city! And coming up with 2X the money for a bus ticket home in order to get an apartment would take FOREVER at a buck a dance. A sad story? Sure... But like many have said before, how truly innocent and naive some of these FOB girls are is open to interpretation.

If you talk to Santiago, the daytime manager/waiter at Las Chavelas, he'll tell you most of the girls who work at the Tropical and Las Chavelas are recruited to the clubs in the very way Byron described. It's a trial phase at first. The girls respond to ads in Mexican newspapers with the promise of steady employment as club hostess's and waitresses.

If things don't work out, they are given a bus ticket back to the very poverty-stricken villiage or town from where they came. I'm surprised to hear of AB following along those lines. (That's if it's true)

From a few girls I have spoken to, EVERYONE in Mexico knows what Adelita's is. They also know what TJ is all about...which is why many that I know tell their families things like: they are working at a casino in Enseneda, or doing insurance in Monterrey, or working as a receptionist in Mexico City, etc.
And the girls have told me before that they came ON THEIR OWN to Adelitas...not because they were recruited. Maybe it's different for the other bars, but not for Adelitas. Off subject a little, I actually just spoke to a girl that I like at Tropical and she said she was thinking about working at AB but that at Tropical she makes 100 for a half hour (she is the prettiest one there, really), and that she knows if she works at AB it will be 60 for half hours of mucho fuck and high volume.

Well she lied to you. She may have someone paying $100 but if that is her price for 30 minutes, then she is getting laughed at a lot.

It isn't at all rare for chicas who work in bars other then AB & CC to quote premium short term prices and it has become more and more common at HK which is a deal all unto itself. It is also happening more often at AB though they will quote $70-80 - never $100. If you get this at Tropical or LC or La Tropa, etc., it's the chica's way of either saying she doesn't want to go up - or if she does its going to bring her a large reward - i.e. we all have a price.

If cute BT chicas wanted to earn a ton of room money they would work at AB. They are at BT precisely to avoid volume and in rare case going to the room at all. They will never ask a customer to go to the room - you have to ask them - and most of the cute chicas don't go up more then 1-2 times per shift if at all. The same chica asking and holding the line at $100 now will guaranteed, accept $60 a few months down the line if she has any serious interest in earning money from going upstairs - unless her pillow case is overflowing with ficha and dance income.

At HK there are so many streams of revenue available to the chicas in the bar, privados and VIP rooms, that many report that premium prices are being quoted for the room by a decent percentage of chicas.

As always I advise that money not be discussed or negotiated with a BG prior to a short term session if you are willing to pay $60 for a hottie and $50 for an average BG [by contrast, always negotiate with a SG]. Just pay those amounts at the end of the session and you will rarely get a complaint or demand for more money - though $50 chicas may want $60. I can only think of one time where a chica asked me for more when money wasn't discussed upfront...and she was worth more money.

Excluding SGs, anytime you ask the price for a service in TJ from sex to taxi rides you open yourself up to being taken for a ride (before the taxi moves). Don't talk about money - just pay the actual fair going rate after a service has been rendered and they will take you for a guy who knows what's up and accept your money graciously. At any rate, without such discussion upfront, they really have no basis to demand more than you're offering...and 99% of the time, they won't. Add in a factor of treating them with respect from beginning to end. Act like an asshole ugly american and it may be another story.

So c'mon, who is this cutest of BT chicas? Its likely that I or somebody here will be able to tell you if she holds the line at $100.

One time a long time ago I met a girl in TJ at Adelitas who swore that she was new to Adelita and TJ and had never been with a customer. I was wearing a University basketball sweatshirt and New Balances. Her hardened friend brought me to her and she claimed to write for a newspaper in one of the far away cities. It all might have been bs, but I could have sworn at the time that she was recruited by being told that she didn't have to whore, but could, and that I was her first trick. I guess that this is what I like about the Philippines, you can go from the most inexperienced FOB girl to the hardcore PSE girl in one day easily. OK, so maybe this answers my question. I have always noticed two types of girls at AB. The ones that work the bar (good or bad) and the ones that sort of sit back in the shadows. I wasn't too sure about the second group. What is the story?
