I will be going to Adelitas and Chicago Club for my first time someday this summer. My only concern is getting a cab ride back to the border. Are taxi's easily accessable at all times of the day/night at these two clubs, or do i have to walk around and search for them?

They are available all the time. Go over to the taxis in front of the Chicago Club. They will give you a no hassle ride back to the border for $5.

If you want a taxi libre for $2, you can walk up and down Calle Coahuilla, Constitution, or Callejon Coahuilla looking for one to hail, but it will probably be hit or miss on finding one. It is probably best for a newbie to just take the black and yellow taxis in front of Chicago. Just be sure to avoid the Verde y Blanco (Green and White) rip-off taxis in front of AB that will quote $7 or more back to the border.

Nowdays it is hard not to be run down by a Taxi Libre after midnight when crossing the street!!

I talked to my driver last trip, and he said the Taxi Libre drivers, who don't have a "stand" in La Zona, just drive back and forth looking for fares, and that they know that after midnight La Zona is the place to pick people up!

Plus, there are ALWAYS cabs in front of the Chicago Club.

Believe me, finding a cab in TJ is NOT a problem....

When I was there last weekend, it seemed that like most of the time, there were one or two Taxi Libres parked in front of Las Chevalas.

You won't have any trouble at all finding a cab, no matter where you are in TJ. You'll spend more time telling cabbies trying to solicit you that you don't need a ride right now.

I got into a Taxi Libre parked in front of AB. After I got in he told me the meter wasn't working. I got out and hailed another at the corner of Coahuila and Niñoes.

Don't let them pull the meter isn't working scam.

That happened to me wonce and I told the guy. Thats no problem I know exactly how much it will be and quoted the 2 dollar rate and he accepted.

When a shady taxi driver tries to pull the "bar is closed" scam on you just, this is what to say: "Adelitas or back to america". Try to say it in spanish if you can. It's not worth it to be dropped off in a place that is foreign to you. And plus, if the taxi driver has any sense of mercy, he will take you to AB if you say this. My advice, since I've already accomplished two dive bombs in Tijuana, is to study the maps and make sure you know where your relative location is. When I was a little kid, I used to fool around in TJ around the Zona Norte (but I never hooked up with a chica until i was 20) I actually safely walked back from the area once.

One more thing, I wouldn't mind paying the taxi driver fourteen dollars to take me back to the border from the border. Ya know what I'm talking about? It aint worth it to chance getting set up for robbery (Don't worry, this won't ever happen. I'm just foreshadowing the worst (im)possible scenario) If a taxi driver is given ya shit, just tell him to take you back to the border.

these guys generally dont give people shit. I've taken a taxi thousands of times. If they tell you ab is closed tell them to take you to tropical(about a 1/2 block away). If they tell you tropical is closed tell them to take you to chavelas club(less then a 1/2 block away. And one more thing. No taxi driver is stupid enough to tell you all three are closed.

If they say its closed just say no problem, you are meeting friends there to go out. About a block a away they usually say "oh that must be the other club that is closed".
