Anyone know the name of the song by Los Tigres Del Norte that gets played at AB all the time?

I know of about 50 of their songs that get played all the time. You'll probably have to be more specific.

By Xenono on Monday, September 24, 2001 - 02:45 pm:  Edit

Three songs I would like to add to the list.

Los Socios Del Ritmo - LLorar
(I think this might already be on the list though)

Perdo Fernandez - Yo No Fui

Dr. Alban - It's My Life

'Mano RTJ,

Is anyone here REALLY into Banda la Costeña? I have a CD with 10 songs, of which six I need the proper song titles for.

I'm not completely familiar with their music, and can't speak/understand much Spanish (unless I'm with the chicas), so it's hard to understand what the singer is saying. I can't latch on to any choruses either. This is live material, and there are definitely a few hits in there.

What I'd like to do is send this CD to someone who *KNOWS* their music, and who can give me the missing song titles. The CD would be yours to keep...

An alternative would be to sample the songs using the mp3 download program of your choice and match up the titles with the songs on your cd. I just did a search on WinMx and it came up with 7 different La Costeña songs.

By Kevdog on Thursday, September 27, 2001 - 06:14 am:  Edit

Thanks Reytj.

That worked pretty well...I was able to get two more titles for the ones I knew were hits. The last four will be difficult.

I've also gone to CDnow, and you can preview many songs off their CDs. I haven't been able to make any more progress this way though...

Brother P,
Whattup, dawg? Yep, still out east--and outta the monger game too, for a minnit at least. Got myself in all kinds of trouble over the summer in TJ.

Ritmo,

Sorry I couldn't party with you while you were out here. I might be in the Philly area in Oct or Nov for a week. Drop me a line. We can have a beer over at "The Office" in downtown Philly... (prog)

I'm trying to figure out the 5 or 10 Mexican/latin tunes played most frequently at AB and CC. Can anyone help?

By nogi_boy on Tuesday, December 04, 2001 - 09:00 pm:  Edit

If you have access to WINMX, look for a song by "Paula" called "Amor de verano".

By Senor Pauncho on Wednesday, December 05, 2001 - 09:22 am:  Edit

Can anyone tell me the title & artist of the song that goes "Promeses, promeses, no me intereses..."

By Daytimer on Wednesday, December 05, 2001 - 11:39 am:  Edit

Dogster...Here are a few titles you will recognize as songs played in AB.

TU by Noelia
La Vida Es Un Carnival by Celia Cruz
Come te Voy a Olvidar by Los Angeles Azules
La Canoa Ranchea by Grupo Niche
Estoy by Shakira
Ni Una Lagima Mas by Noelia
Yo Soy Candela by Noelia
El Amar y El Querer by Pepe Aquilar
Candela by Chayane
Donde Estas Corazon by Shakira

All of these can be downloaded with Morpheus or other file sharing programs.

Thanks! I'm trying to deepen my TJ experience, so to speak. Also, as Christmas gift-giving is upon us, I'm thinking of giving ma favorita a stocking stuffer.

There are a couple songs that keep rattling through my brain. Chicas and waiters haven't been able to ID these songs, the few times I've asked.

By the way, I understand just enough Spanish to know that the DJ at AB is incredibly rude. Just exactly what is he saying???

By Toehead on Wednesday, December 05, 2001 - 03:03 pm:  Edit

Senor Pauncho, I THINK the song your looking for is by Los Tucanes De Tijuana and the title is "Promesas y Promesas"..thats off the top of my head so I could be wrong.

By Cantinflas on Saturday, December 08, 2001 - 02:38 am:  Edit

A good CD to get is recently released La Historia De Los Angeles Azules 30 Pegaditas. It's their biggest hits in a back-to-back format. I picked mine up at K-Mart for ten bucks.

Here's another cool song that's making the rounds in La Zona. I asked Claudia, the waitress from Las Chavelas, to write it down for me...

"Me Llamo Raquel" by Banda Machos.

By Reytj on Monday, January 14, 2002 - 04:47 pm:  Edit

Did Claudia also explain the lyrics to you? This should be required listening for those who hang out at Bambi or Sans Souci. :)

By Milkman on Monday, January 14, 2002 - 05:18 pm:  Edit

That song has a nice rhythm , it has been around for a while.
I got it on a mix cd this past summer.
i do not know what the words mean but i like it.
does this mean i like Bambis and Sans Sousi ?

"i do not know what the words mean"

It's about a guy who comes on to a hot chica at a disco(Las Pulgas)who turns out to be a travesti.Of course his friends will never let him live it down but, worst of all word gets back to his 'morra' who sends him packing.

I don't remember all the letra but here's part of it

ME LA LLEVE A PLATICAR

A LO OSCURITO PUES ESE MANGO

YO ME LO QUERIA COMER

DE SUS ENCANTOS ME DESPACHE

SOLITO PERO QUE SUSTO AL

AL FINAL YO ME LLEVE

ME DIJO ME LLAMO RAQUEL

Y PENSE SERA ELLA O EL

LE AGARRE Y LO COMPROBE

ME PARE Y ME ECHE A CORRER

CON MIS AMIGOS NO ME LA

ACABABA PORQUE LOS PERROS

A UN TRASVESTI YO LE ECHE

HASTA MI MORRA SUPO

DE MI REGADA SOLO POR ESO

ME DEJO DE QUERER

There is a song I hear on Radio Latina here in San Diego that I like...but I don't know enough Spanish yet to pick up the artist and song title.
It's a guy singing and the chorus has something like "bye, bye arrividerci no more". I know that's not much to go on but if you know the name of the song, artist and where I might pick-up the CD, I would appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Masomenos

By Reytj on Monday, February 25, 2002 - 04:10 pm:  Edit

It's Arrivederci by the Venezuelan group Uff. I think the album is called Ufforia but I'm not sure. You can probably get it at any place that sells latin music because they're very popular.

My favorite Latin songs right now are "Quitame Ese Hombre" (Nortena version) and "Cuando Estamos Juntos" by Pilar Montenegro.

And, man oh man, those are some damn sexy videos!

By Kevdog on Saturday, July 06, 2002 - 01:58 pm:  Edit

Can anyone help me with an Artist/Song Title?

The song is real nasty. It has a repeating beat, and it's a latina making love. Some of the phrases I remember are "Si, papi", "Mas duro" She also says a few things in English. Towards the end of the song I recognized parts of a different song in the background. I think it could be the instrumental part of "Wow Flash" by Elvis Crespo.

There are almost no repeated phrases, so there is no chorus to latch onto. I didn't hear it in the Zona, I heard it at Mitchell Brothers in SF.

By Cantinflas on Tuesday, July 09, 2002 - 12:55 pm:  Edit

The name of the song is "Entre Mi Casa" by Armand Van Halen.

Cantinflas,

MUCHAS GRACIAS! That's exactly the one!

Choyryu.....The Night and Day section in the Thursday San Diego Union has a section called, "Eventos Latinos" that lists live music events in the San Diego area and Tijuana. Check it out tomorrow for the latest.

In the meantime you can check out last week's listings at this link.

Don't know if this really goes under "Music of the Zona" or not, but here goes. When I was in Colombia recently, I heard a song a few times and some chicks I was with were watching a documentary type show about their concert trek through Central and South America.

The group is called RBD and appears to be from Mexico. They appear to have two very hot female singers, although I like the one in the pink cowboy hat in their "Savalme" video.

Speaking of Salvame that was the song I heard in the documentary and several times while in Colombia. I like it a lot and will probably be sampling some of their other music.

I tried to find an MP3 of it from my usual sources and could not, so broke down and bought it at the iTunes music store, even though it was spell wrong - Silvame.

I then promptly burned it to CD, ripped it off and now have an MP3 I can take anywhere without any DRM restrictions. Woohoo!

By Reytj on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 - 07:20 pm:  Edit

RBD is made up of cast members of the telenovela Rebelde which is probably being broadcast on either the Univision or Telemundo network.

As far as their rolas the file sharing program I use accesses the Gnutella network and there are RBD songs available.

I actualy watch Rebelde, Reytj is in love with Celena. These are the type of girls you can find at the nicer discos in Tj / Mexicali,
They recently toured these two cities.

X, your fav chica is Dulce Maria, who plays Roberta on Rebelde. She also has the more "nasal" unique sounding voice in the group. I'm actually partial to Anahi ("Mia") who is by far the most popular figure of the show and group.

By Reytj on Thursday, December 22, 2005 - 06:13 pm:  Edit

"X, your fav chica is Dulce Maria, who plays Roberta on Rebelde"

Actually it would appear that X's favorite is Anahi because she's the one with the pink cowboy hat in Salvame.

Oops, if that the case I stand corrected. I don't like that song and that's the only vid I haven't seen. But there are a ton of pics in TV y Novelas mag with DM in a pink cowboy hat, so I figured it was her. --A self-described Rebelde nut--

By Reytj on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 - 12:47 pm:  Edit

The RBD juggernaut continues to roll on. They are everywhere on the radio, tv, performing in stadiums.

For my money the hottest rebelde is Mayte Perroni. She just did a rather tame layout for one of the men's magazines.
