I am happy to announce the next orphanage fundraiser to be held on Saturday June 23rd at 7:30 pm at the patio directly behind La Tropa Bar. This time of year is excellent for an outdoor party and La Tropa offers a nice patio. New manager Pancho, is a long time friend of mine, and is excited about the opportunity to host a party with so many Americans.

The fiesta committee has already locked in FREE BEER for the evening, and we plan to do a raffle, but I will not be providing escorts for the raffle this time. I think with all the recent developments I should refrain for awhile in providing that contribution. I am visiting with people about possible items to be donated, and will make that information available as it becomes available. If you have any item to donate for the raffle pm me or Amo even if it is a gag gift as it is fun to give away many items. Last party we gave away about 10 bottles of Tequila and other alcohol thanks to some generous mongers.

I want to encourage everyone to attend regardless of your newbie/lurker/platinum amigo status. We enjoy meeting new people and often lurkers become posters after attending these events. Everyone is welcome, and you can bring a no board member friend if you like or a chica from the street, other bar or your work...(we are not too discriminating about these parties)

For any that do not know the history of the Internet message boards and the orphanage I will give you the Reader's Digest version. My good friend Amo has visited this orphanage for numerous years and when he asked the mongering community to help him support the kids in 2002, I contacted him about teaming up as I was already organizing fiestas. The first Xmas fiesta brought in 63 gifts and 5 bikes for the 13 kids and it has grown since. Many different board members have participated, and we are always looking to add to our fiesta committee. In past years we have paid school tuition, uniforms and supplies for their schooling. A custom made wheel chair was bought for one young boy, and a playground combination monkey bar, slide, and swing set was actually purchased and constructed by about 10 guys from this board. It is a project I have always enjoyed being a part of, and hope to continue to support as long as I am living in Tijuana or a surrounding city.

You need not bring anything, and just come in and make yourself at home. I try real hard to meet and greet everyone, so if I don't find you feel free to ask for me. Some guys like not to mention their handles, and so please understand that. We are a very diverse group with at least one thing in common. Some long time friendships have been made over the years, and even guys that but heads on their posts have been seen hugging and laughing with each other at these events. Please remember it is for the kids and this one in particular is to help raise money for their next school year tuition, uniforms and supplies. We have about $2500 left in the bank after the Xmas fiesta so we have a good start. Hope to see you all there.
