The topic has come up in the Nogales and Juarez threads regarding "Burlesque" joints, and folks were asking just what the hell is "Burlesque".
A "burlesque" show is typically a "earthly variety show" of dirty comedy, music, song, and dancing girls(topless/nude is nice). France is famous for it, so I suppose that is why we use a French word to describe it. I suppose the most famous burlesque joint in the world is the Moulin Rouge in Paris:

Go to this site and check out the windmill... Look familiar? That's right, it looks like The Molino Rojo! Molino Rojo is Spanish for Moulin Rouge - or Red Mill in English. So, Zona Norte's oldest and most famous landmark shows it has "Burlesque" roots.
However, other than in some TV bars, there are no actual shows in Tijuana that I would truly call Bulesque. Most of the bars in ZN have a parts of a Burlesque show - AB has the dirty-mouthed DJ for comedy, and has dancing girls(but theirs is not a very good "show"). Manhattan sometimes has some good, high-quality dancing girl shows - but lacks many other ingrediants. Amor Latino has singers/music, but not much else. Zacazaropan has the atmosphere, and that good American juke box, but not much else. The fact is - if you are straight, and you want Burlesque in TJ, you have to go around to various bars and "create" it yourself - right Redongdo?
When I was in Nogales, I came across a joint that was more like a true Burlesque house that anything I'd come across in the straight bars in the much bigger Tijuana. It was called "Fiestas Palace". I really enjoyed myself there, and it was a much-welcomed option to all of the "Phone Booth Sex" houses in Nogales. But, you better watch out, some of those "girls" there fit WestFargo's description of the "typical TV". But, I think that is also part of the "Burlesque tradition", like in that movie "Victor, Victoria". There is something risque' about getting fooled by a TV, even if it is only for a little while - right WestFargo?

Oh, I'm going to be going to Ciudad Juarez for awhile in June, and I was wondering if there are any Bulesque-like joints in Juarez?
If not, how can I go about "rolling my own" Burlesque show there?
