I broke my Titanic cherry this weekend, bedding a dancer that I had known from the ZN who was working there on the sly from her family/friends. She told me she was number TWENTY in their strip show lineup, but that the chicas only get one song. The dancer's music is standard ZN rock, the dollar dance music about what they normally play at Hacienda. The decor is the exact same as Miami Bar, though Titanic is bigger, and they have the same 'dueno'.
Titanic has a hotel upstairs, the Hotel Francia, which is about on par with its ilk in the Zona, though like Cascadas has TV that didn't quite manage any use in the short time we were there. The 30 minute rate was $13, and I paid a dollar extra for a condom. A knock (and a second and a third) came at right about the 30 minute mark, and $13 more handed through the door bought 30 minutes more before no knocking. I don't know anything about overnight rates/availability.
As far as getting chicas from Titanic to that hotel, I would figure it's a hit and miss proposition like some of the bars in the alley in the ZN. Chicas would probably much prefer to drink and dance, but the lure of those hotel dollars may be tempting.

Yes but here's the important question. While you were in La Mesa did you get killed?
By Otra_Vida on Sunday, April 22, 2001 - 03:18 pm: Edit
No he didn't. In part because he kept his thoughts straight and didn't do anything stupid. (Translation: he left alone late at night and took a .50-cent cab.) Seriously much safer than the alternative. T- please clear up a few mysteries for me. Getting pulled over on the way to Monte Picacho??? Jeez man.
Red, I have been thinking about that movie.

I take full responsibility for the police incedent.
It seems cops are attacted to me like bees to honey, redongdo to waiters, Porker to tequlia sunrisas. You get the point. Anyway what ever happend to you?? I left La Carreta for a bit and when I returned you where gone. Sounds like you made it home OK....
Porker, I don't EVER want to hear you complain about going to La Mesa AGAIN. If it wasn't for me you would NEVER have nailed big titty girl. Infact I am the one who pointed her out!! I think you owe me a beer or TEN for my insisting we head out there....
By Porker on Sunday, April 22, 2001 - 04:57 pm: Edit
You're complaining about not getting enough beer in TJ? Jeez... I thought you got plenty by drinking OV's cervezas while he was passed out asleep at the table?
Dude, I know I owe you big time, and I DID buy a whole bucket of beers for you when I got back from the hotel. But I had to drink 'em all by my lonesome when I found out my bestest amigos had left me STRANDED in that WAR ZONE in the RAIN because they had better stuff to do!
BTW, what's 'tequlia'???

You guys shouldn't be going to monte picacho anyways, One night Tomas asked a girl at monte picacho if she worked at las chavelas!!!!!!!! I'm suprised she didn't slap him.
By Diego on Monday, April 23, 2001 - 04:57 pm: Edit
When did you guys go over there?
Did you go on Friday? If I would have known you were going to try something different I would have hung around longer.
The thing was, there were already four of yous guys, and five is a crowd(it is hard to find booths that sit five).
Let me know next time if you are going to try something different. I'm always up for something different.

No, Tomas I take responsibility. I am just curious when, where, and why it happened.

Guys, where is La Mesa/Titanic? I went to Fox Baja Studios and all I got was a fish taco!
By cf/ja on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 - 11:26 am: Edit
La Mesa is the part of Tijuana around 5 y 10. To get to 5 y 10 follow Ave Revolucion south until it becomes Agua Caliente, then later becomes Diaz Ordaz. 5 y 10 is the hellishly crowded intersection with the square yellow pedestrian bridge crossing all sides.
A few blocks north of 5 y 10 are the bars Titanic, Nachos, Paris, & Cueva del Peludo. A bit further south of 5 y 10 is Siete Copas.
By POWERSLAVE on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 - 06:38 pm: Edit
I think you mean east and west, respectively.
By cf/ja on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 - 06:54 pm: Edit
Absolutely correct compadre. I was still thinking in terms of Ave Revulsion, it does change to east and west when you change to Agua Caliente. Starts to angle more southerly again at Diaz Ordaz but would probably still be considered E/W.

I thought it was the other way around. Titanic was the Chicago Club with the american music, younger girls and "newer" decor while La Cueva sticks with the traditional Mexican music, older girls and the whole "red" theme is more like the Adelitas.

I was in Titanic this last week with my fav. What a waste of time, no girls to speak of and only a few guys. Green inside and about the size of Miami. Not much to talk about here.

Tough guy Trumpet
what day did you go ?
I was there on Wednesday around 2amish.
It had lots of nice girls.
When one comes to La Mesa he needs to leave his Zona Norte mind at home.
La Mesa Caters to the locals and each bar has its unique flavor.
I go to all of them from time to time.
Much better than the zona clubs if you ask me.
But you didnt ask me did you ?

I think it means "The Cave"
Isn't the full name "la cueva de la peluda"
The Cave of the Hairy One.
Something close to that from what I remember.

La Cueva del Peludo basically means "The Ape's Cave", I do believe, even if that is not the literal translation. Of course, if it was named after Redongdo's house, I can see where his translation might be even more accurate.
The only comparison I can see between it and CC is that the girls there frequently want way too much money to go to the room.
By Milkman on Tuesday, July 09, 2002 - 07:51 pm: Edit
Ok
take all the clubs in La Mesa and compare them to the clubs in the zona norte and you will see the comparision.
Girls that are barbie dolled , think that they are all that.
The music is about the same.
and the prices are about the same.\
And Hippie that place is too nice to be Redongdo's house!
I like Sieta Da copas myself

Although an ape is indeed very peludo in this case peludo refers to a caveman. Next time you go to La Cueva you will note that the caveman motif is very much apparent.
I don't know how old La Cueva is but I wouldn't be surprised if the decor was inspired by One Million Years BC which immortalized Raquel Tejada ie. Raquel Welch's cleavage in the late 60's.
By Explorer8939 on Wednesday, July 10, 2002 - 03:33 pm: Edit
Gentlemen:
I had the impression that La Cueva de la Peludo meant more than caveman stuff.
By Hippie on Thursday, July 11, 2002 - 07:54 am: Edit
I will certainly defer to ReyTJ on the translation. The guy who translated it for me did not speak the greatest English in the world, so I probably misunderstood.

I haven't been to Titanic in years, but from the last time I went there, think of Las Chavelas with a major looks upgrade or Tropical with 2-3X as many chicas. The place used to have 60+ chicas working on weekend nights. The bar is owned by the same folks that own Miami/Trop/LC&La Tropa, and they even use the same furniture. There is a short time hotel right next door to Titanic, and there are two other decent bars (La Cava Peludo? or something like that) within 30 yards.
I'd probably go there more often now that the Taxi Libre guys are operating. Used to be a $10 cabride to get there, and as most know, I'm broker than Milkman! It was always easy to find a collectivo to take you back to Const. and 3rd st., but walking FROM the Zona to get a collectivo and asking around as to 'which one takes you to Titanic'? always seemed to be a pain in the ass when you were in a hurry to get to the bars. Besides, by the time we would get the wild hair up our asses about going all the way out to La Mesa, my friend Tomas would usually be so drunk he'd volunteer to pay for it!
I fucked a girl out of Titanic that had given me the runaround in the Zona for months before I finally saw her and got her to agree to go in La Mesa. Turns out her hubby/mesero/padrote was out of town and she figured that by working in La Mesa she could get away with going to the room, which USED to be a much riskier proposition when she was working in his bar. At the time she was like my Holy Hole Grail of TJ mongering. Now, of course, Big Titty Girl is a fully certified High Volume Ho, confirmed by the fact that Lakers has supposedly fucked her multiple times for $40
I had to pay $70 for the privilege, which seemed damned cheap to me, seeing how I used to dump $100+ a month on fichas trying to make the waiter's baby machine my 'girlfriend'. Ain't it great to be naive and in love with a set of tits?

"there are two other decent bars (La Cava Peludo? or something like that) within 30 yards"
Both La Cueva del Peludo and Nacho's are on the same side of the street within walking distance but it's at least a block or maybe two.

Epi...you are in the Western Hemisphere??
I don't remember any particular drooling sessions over Lucero but she was always in BT in those days...then ran into enough problems to fill a screenplay and was variously suspended, banned, unbanned, re-banned, fired, rehired, retired, un-retired...and now is back being sired full time.
Her price in all things from a dance to the room depends on whether or not to her, you are admired!

Epi, with Lucero "cool" counts most...so if you work on a few Spanish action verbs this evening along with your dance moves, you are in line for a nominally priced encounter. And leave your "I HATE MEXICO MONGERING" attitude home for the day. Actually, she didn't too hot when I saw her last weekend.

Stopped in last night. Lots of chicas, but nothing outstanding. There are 3 bars on the block and a couple of blocks way is Titanic. Titanic has secure parking, so if driving I would recommend parking there and walking back to these places if you were going to tour all 3.
Someone can correct my spelling here, but next to the hairy cave is Enigmas(formely Nachos), and then Sinaleese bar.
Those other two were really slow.
By Erip on Saturday, June 02, 2007 - 12:56 pm: Edit
"Lots of chicas, but nothing outstanding."
That's the way its been the last 3 times I've gone there and it was prime time weekend late night. Many chicas and very friendly...aggressive - very happy to see me and my gringo pals stroll in. Problem is on none of the three visits did I see a chica I was really interested in. I'm not tremendously picky either.
Sampson mentioned three bars but he didn't mention a fourth in the area which IMO is by far the best - the "Hairy Cave" - something like "La Cava de Peludo" - right up the block from Titanic and next door to Enigma. I see this place doesn't even have its own thread. It is operated by the same group who own HK, BT, LC, Miami, Titanic, et al. Kind of a blend between BT and HK. Tremendous lower level featuring fichalizing and dancing with occasional floor shows. Upstairs looks just like HK with a view down from mezzanine tables, and booths for privadas. The chicas in this place are numerous on weekends and are younger and hotter than in the other La Mesa bars, and some of them bring the "sleaze" element you find in HK. The only problem is there are plenty of customers on weekend nights and you have to move fast to capture the chica of your choice.
By sampson on Saturday, June 02, 2007 - 05:08 pm: Edit
lol...went to the hairy cave first. had lots of women and a good crowd. On this paticular night I would say that Siete de Copas had the best line-up, then Maribu(in Buenas Aires), The Hairy Cave and then Titanic. The other two were non factors.
I am not sure why I ommitted the Hairy Cave....probably multi-tasking.

Titanic had a nice line-up last night. Went with a friend and had lots of fun.
I have to give props to the Management, as we are sitting their and a mesero brings two chicas to our table. I am like hey no thank you, and I notice they already have drinks in their hands. I was thinking what kind of new scam is this, when the mesero says they are complimentary drinks and we are not under any obligation to buy any.
Great low cost method of increasing business.

I went to Titanic for the first time last night. It was a Tuesday at approx. 10:30pm. the line up was decent and I was just hanging for a good 20 min. Then I got approached by a girl named Yesica and I was not super attracted to her although she did have a pretty good body, cute face, and a large mouth.
She wanted to sit down and have a drink and I kept telling her I wanted to hang out and relax for a little while before buying drinks.
Then the waiter came by and told me I could go to the VIP room for $35 with included a bucket of beer and a BJ.
So I went into this room that was above the club with tinted windows. So I could see the whole club but they could not see me.
The bucket came with a condom (an extra $4) So I paid the waiter $39 plus a $3 tip.
Then Yesica started to give me a lap dance that lasted 5 or 6 songs. She drank most the bucket of beer because I don't drink on week nights.
Then she gave me a CBJ which was mediocore at best. I then finished in her hand.
Overall I'd say for $42 I got a steal. CBJ, bucket of beer, and a 5 song lap dance.
I think I'll be going back next Tuesday night

By the way, I like the La Mesa vibe much better than ZN. No crack heads, no heroin addicts, and no hustlers in the street. Also, no cops or federalies too.
Much safer and chill.

I will be visiting tonight with a board member here, and a couple of chica friends of mine. Thanks for the report, and although for years, people said La Mesa is dangerous and don't go by yourself. I have never felt it was more dangerous than the Zona Norte, and I appreciate no one asking for a $1.

Someone recently told me that some of the clubs in la mesa, for instance la cueva, have a lot more narco clientle compared to clubs in the zona norte. For those of you that frequent these clubs regularly is there any truth to this?
By Milkman on Thursday, July 10, 2008 - 07:08 pm: Edit
Yes but that doesnt mean they are any more dangerous.
One club Sieta de copas was recently the scene of a cops death and the club was threatened to be shot out. That was reported on Televista a few weeks back
By sampson on Thursday, July 10, 2008 - 11:14 pm: Edit
In that fight, it had nothing to do with Narco's. I am not sure the guy even knew he killed a cop as he was drinking...their was a fight and the guy went out to the parking lot, got his gun, and shot the cop.
Most of the time I only see locals and pochos in those places. I cannot say that I have seen any narcos. I see them all day long parked outside the gym close to wear I stay. If they are running around the La Mesa bars, then I am unaware.
A chica last night in a Zona Norte club told me she heard I was a Narco....don't know where that came from.

Thanks for the info cabrones.
By sampson on Monday, July 14, 2008 - 07:08 pm: Edit
After re-reading my comments I am pretty sure that it is confusing.
To clarify:
A fight broke out between two patrons. One was a cop off duty and out of uniform. The other guy went to his car returned with a gun and shot the cop. It could be that he did not even know he was a cop. He probably did, but that part was never made clear to me.

Where is La Mesa. Have always spent time in Zona Norte. Help please
By Erip on Friday, October 24, 2008 - 09:59 pm: Edit
La Mesa is about 5 miles SE from the zona on Revo, which turns into Blvd. Agua Caliente. Taxi Libres will take you there for $10. 3 bars close together that can be decent are Titanic, Las Cuevas (both owned by same people who run HK, BT, LC), and Enigma which is kind of an upscale ficha bar with older mujeres. A few blocks before this cluster you also find Unicornio (no connection to the closed Revo sleaze bar) which is an upscale strip club type operation. There are more bars further down the Blvd. which changes name again and you are no longer technically in La Mesa - most notably Siete Copas - also owned by HK, BT empire.
Gollum: Lucero was working at BT every day a week ago - first time I've seen her in a zona bar in about 2-3 years. However somebody looking for her this week at BT was told she's gone again. Hmmm...maybe she is in La Mesa now.
