On my last trip to tj I took a walk through of the rooms here and was totally impressed. So this trip for $75 a night I'm in a suite complete with jacuzzi and a 7th floor view of tj. The hotel only opened four months ago, so everything is sparkling new and surprisingly stylish. Definately nicer than a Sheraton I stayed in a couple weeks ago.
The less expensive rooms are $45 a night and oustanding value for the price. I upgraded because I really enjoy having girls in the jacuzzi all covered in bubbles.
So far no problem bringing girls back. there is a kid at the front door until about 6, but no one seems overly uptight. I just smile at them and complement them on the hotel. Internet service is great here and I even get good cell reception.
Previously I'd stayed at VDZ and I really like everything about the place except the rooms are a little run down and out of date.

The less expensive rooms are 550 pesos, so the $45 is bound to change as the value of the peso does. They do not have porn on their televisions either. Nice alternative on weekends when Premier and La Mansion hold to their 4 hour rule.

What is the four hour room. I will be in TJ this next Sunday and Monday. Will be staying in SD but wouldn't mind getting a TJ room to stay fresh.

Endevor, was the $75 suite the highest price room? I am hearing that when they aren't full they will upgrade guests from the cheapest rooms to some kind of suite at the same $45 price, but don't know if that upgrade is to a jacuzzi suite. I will be in TJ from Saturday through much of next week - was going to stay at the VDZ for an unavoidable specific purpose, but if I can get a jacuzzi suite for $45-55 I may check into Ticuan this weekend and then move to VDZ to take care of my business there later into my trip.

I did stay in this hotel for one 5 day stay and thought it was the best hotel bargain of my life outside of years ago in Las Vegas when they were literally giving rooms away to get players in. I did have 2 complaints about Ticuan:

1. The rooms are equipped with fantastic flat screen wall mounted TVs and have 102 channels of crystal clear cable, but only a couple of those 2 channels are English language - pretty strange for a TJ cable provider. There were plenty of movies in English with spanish subtitles, but I just wanted to be able to get news and some U.S. sports. They had BBC but not CNN in English. No ESPN. Not really a big deal, just odd.

2. They were amazingly unaccommodating about granting my request for an extra hour or two to checkout even though there was nobody checking in who needed my room. VDZ allows me to check out late as I want as long as get out while the housekeepers are still there to clean the room, and also allows me to leave my car there if I hang around TJ after I check out.

No. 2 just pissed me off because it was pointlessly unaccommodating, but I realize I'm just nitpicking. This place is the best overnight deal going in TJ by far at least until they get discovered and raise the prices.

Update after spending the last 7 nights at this Hotel. Mid-week they raised the price about 100 pesos so single rooms are now around $54 U.S.

For the first time they are requiring a credit card guarantee for all reservations and many of their staff who apparently do not have hotel experience, don't yet understand what this means. So when I checked out today I made a reservation for a brief visit in a couple of weeks, and one of the clerks tried to take a deposit from my credit card before having another clerk explain what "holding a room with a credit card" means - i.e. your card is charged only if you don't show up.

One of the trainees behind the desk is one of the most gorgeous latinas I've ever seen - totally movie star looks, and she's as cold as she is beautiful.

There are a few more English channels on the expansive cable TV, but still no CNN or ESPN.

Had a long chat with the manager. He told me about all their expansion plans - but TJ businesses like the U.S. businesses are finding it difficult to impossible to borrow money, and their plans are stalled for failure to raise adequate capital. But the good news for them and bad for us, is that they've reached a new threshold in bookings where they can start raising prices and requiring credit card room holds.

"their plans are stalled for failure to raise adequate capital."

That seems to include their website. www.hotelticuan.net which simply defaults to an advertisement on another site.

Was Ticuan noticeably more full this time around?

Hi Erip, sorry to take so long on getting back. The 75$ room was their top end and it was totally worth it to me. I did not try to negotiate a better rate but that option is always on the table. The owners/managers were super nice. I did get the feeling though that the rest of the staff thought they were a little ," to cool for school",.Not a big deal, just a vibe I got.
I'm out of the hemisphere for a couple months, but it would be fun to get in some tj time with you. ciao

Try this link reytj:

Ok, I guess it is the same link, but it does go to their site with pics of their rooms, their phone numbers, etc.

reytj, impossible for me to know that the occupancy rate is higher, but it does seem to be and that is what they are saying - i.e. that bookings are much higher but still less then they targeted for this point in time. Last week 3 friends were coincidentally in the hotel at the same time I was there. So it must be catching on.

When I stayed at Ticuan a couple weeks ago I was really put off by the volume of street noise. Non stop car alarms followed by garbage trucks from midnight to daylight. I don't remember it being so bad last year. Otherwise it was as nice as I recalled.

By Wurldmonger on Monday, November 30, 2009 - 08:55 am:  Edit

The music from Las Pulgas can get stupid loud. I always request a room on the Constitution side and never had a problem. If it's still too much noise, you can request the inside room, which has no street view, but a view of the atrium. That room definitely has no street noise.

I suppose ear plugs could help.

Or just get a screamer for a TLN!

Yeah, got me one of those who I've been doing TLNs with at Ticuan for the last 4 months. This chica even has wet dreams and makes orgasmic screams in her sleep. I actually prefer the music and thump from Las Pulgas, but I'm not complaining.

By sampson on Tuesday, December 01, 2009 - 12:34 pm:  Edit

Erip, he means a screamer because of passionate sex, not a chica screaming to escape your room. :-)

I have been using La Maison, which is great for 1-2 hours sessions. They charge full price when I return with a second girl though. At some point Ticuan may be a better deal. Does Ticuan stop you from reentering with a second or third chica within the day or night?

By Erip on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 - 09:15 pm:  Edit

Not in my experience.

By sampson on Friday, December 20, 2013 - 12:49 pm:  Edit

La Mansion has no in and out privileges. If you stay in your room a second or any subsequent chica is 1/2 the room charge.

Ticuan has no charge per chica and of course is a much better location.

I stayed at Ticuan last week. Best Hotel for the hobby in TJ. 2 nights, $136, parking included (very safe), good restaurant for breakfast and dinner, close enough to the Zona (9 blocks) that you can pick up HK girls for TLN easily. Staff was great, they cleaned my room between each girl's visit.
I second the funny marriage of obesity clinic patients (5th floor) and mangers (6+7th).
My only concern: Las Pulgas. This hotel is directly adjacent and any room facing east must be very loud at night. My room was facing west and was okay.

By sampson on Thursday, January 16, 2014 - 12:25 pm:  Edit

It is important to ask for a room facing the outside, because of the music pounding all night.

I don't know what you consider to be cheap or expensive, but as infrequently as I get to TJ these days, I choose to stay in the moderately priced full service luxury Hotel Ticuan. Weekday price for a single room with King Bed is probably around $58US these days and you can add about $10 on weekend nights. Ticuan is a little more than a half mile from the zona norte so about a 10-15 minute walk to clubs like AB and HK or a $3-4 taxi ride. It is very nice and comfortable with no issues with you bringing in chicas, and in the heart of what is now a revived thriving nightlife scene in downtown (i.e. El Centro) that is about giant dance club Las Pulgas (attached to Ticuan) and an assortment of cool bars and live music venues on and around 6th Street. Its a locals scene and not about P4P. However, there are 3 high quality massage parlors along 8th Street close by to Ticuan which are not cheap by TJ standards but you might see a bonita you have to have in the lineups. They will all
come back to the hotel which is recommended over trying to have an enjoyable session on a massage table - cost is probably about $100-150 for an hour session.

For 3 days I suggest Ticuan, if mongering is your main goal during the trip and your game in picking up civvies is less than 50%.

I could not stay 3 nights in any of the places In or near Zona Norte. They are okay for one night of debauchery that ends with an alcohol stupor, but walking around the dumpy mess (ZN) in the morning is just too depressing for my taste.

After the second night you may want to hang yourself. At Ticuan you have nice rooms, decent wifi, at Lucerna even a good pool and great restaurant.

Ticuan which had a fire in December 2014 will be re-opening on June 20th 2015.

who cares? The hotel was never that great to begin with. Try the Hyatt near the Marriott. Less expensive and much nicer than Ticuan.

By sampson on Sunday, June 14, 2015 - 08:06 pm:  Edit

Actually we have been using Hyatt Place a lot, but by most accounts it does not compare. Location with room service seems to be the big selling point. I was quoted $105 during the week and $91 for weekends at Hyatt Place, where many are getting $58 at Ticuan.

Thanks for the information Sampson. I may be in for an extended trip in mid-July. Hopefully the "special rate" they have been bestowing on me for years has not been purged from their computer. On the other hand, I was forced to rediscover my old TJ digs, the ever so humble but comfortable and respectable Villa de la Zaragoza on my last short trip to TJ and I really enjoyed being back there. I just may drop back in there again instead of returning to Ticuan just yet.

Can you bring girls to the Hyatt or Hyatt Place?

By Muthafoo on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 - 06:25 pm:  Edit

You can take girls to Hyatt Place but you need to be discreet and not so obvious. I usually take my own car and bring the girl back by parking in the underground garage and up to my room via the elevator.

Hyatt is very chica friendly. Sent 3 chicas there last night and 7 over the weekend. Not even a question.
