Fuck the New york bar. Yes, that's right. I said it. Fuck the New York bar and fuck the Manhatten bar also. Those places are nothing but rip-off joints. You can't even get no more than two feet inside the place when you get swamped from all sided by hyper waiters eager to seat you by the stage. Then they overcharge you for drinks and bug you half to death about wanting to get you another drink even before you've finished the first one.If you can't find your pleasure at the Adelitas, Chicago or Las Chavellas, then you're wasting your time going into these two places. The dancing girls at the Manhatten don't even take their clothes off. What kind of place is this? How do they expect to make money when you've got a shit load of horny gringos looking for a little latina flesh south of the border on any given night?

First of all, it is Manhattan, not Manhatten.

I don't know about NY club, buy in Manhattan, I've not had a problem with the waiters. Besides, you don't have to do anything the waiters tell you... YOU are in control - not them.

Now, one point I will agree with you on is regarding your comment "How do they expect to make money...?". The answer is - they don't. Now, once you have got this figured out, you can play this to your advantage.

At first(7 years ago), I too was a little perplexed by the Manhatan scene - but(like Tejano) there are a lot of chicks that start off in ZN in this bar, before going on to the more hard-core hooker bars like Adelita... and there are a lot of girls that don't know any better, and come in for a month or so to make a little money dancing, and doing a little hooking on the side. I find the chicks in this place to be "more real" than the chicks in Adelita. I recommend you look at Manhattan from a different point of view... instead of thinking "why isn't it more like AB, CC, etc.?", try enjoy its differences, and take advantage of them.

(I'm not talking about New York. Even though these two bars are almost identical - I find Manhattan to be the better of the two... besides, they sell Pacifico in Manhattan - and it is only $2 a beer... and the chica drinks are also reasonably priced compared to the other ZN bars).

The Manhattan and New York are definitely horses of a different color. At times I have run into some fabulous gals over there. The waiters never really threw the hard sell at me other than getting me seated and getting the first drink to me. I wills say I have met a few girls over there and had some great times. One time I must've blown over $100 doing some privates upstairs with one of the dancers on tour. But you must remember, they give her a bucket of beers for around $35, that takes some time for her to chug down. During that time she was all over me. After she got off, we got a room at the hotel next door and pretty much screwed away the rest of the night and into the morning. I gave her around another $60 for that, she didnt even ask, I think she was satisfied with the money I had blown on her in the bar. Plus she banged down at least 18 of those pony beers while we were up there, so she was feeling no pain. I like to stop in there every so often, and usually I am out of there after a few drinks and checking out the girls. But every so often I run into a gal down there that gives me good vibes and I run with it. More often than not, I am not disappointed.

Manhattan was the first club I ventured into about 6 years ago and recently on my second to last trip, a group of us had some good adventures there. Going upstairs to the "private area" for an hour with Alexis (who was moonlighting there briefly from Pollo) was certainly my highlight.

Total accord with Diego and Bullitt. These bars are an ALTERNATIVE way to spend time in TJ...a category of entertainment unto themselves. The waiters are no pushier than anywhere else and in fact can be quite helpful. They all understand the English word for "NO" or a wave of the hand. No ripoffs/no cheeseplates/friendly solicitous service no matter how little you may spend.

There's an interesting assortment of chicas there right now and they all have their own limits. The place is spacious and comfortable - even real A/C on hot summer nights.

The dancers not only get their tops off, but they are more likely to leave their panties on the floor than in most other TJ bars...as long as there is a tipper or three at the stage. If they are being ignored, they ride out their time.

The "variedad" entertainment can be classy or cheesy...but either way, it's a welcome refuge for me from the hardcore grind of the rest of the zona.

Btw, for the last 1-2 years, NY and Manhattan are rarely both opened. It's usually one or the other. Currently, it's Manhattan.

The GOODFELLAS got the low-down on Club New York. As you may already know, the owners of Club Manhattan are also the owners of Club New York. In mid-2001, they closed Club New York and successfully increased their business in Club Manhattan. Unfortuantely, they lost a lot of pesos having a closed club, so they rented it to some other folks and it re-opened 2/2/02. The interior of New York is the same but the place is being run a lot like Club Odyessy 2001. Instead of its former classy self, New York is now one of those "2x1" type bars where every chica is for rent. Looks like another new round of new owners. Was rapping with Franco and he told me since La Tropa locked him out of his room he now works for these new owners. So I let him escort me in to make him look good. Owners seem non tj types. The new routine here is that there were about 10 chicas on this frday night, 5 were quite hot. I had a great time in Hong Kong bar, enjoyed watching the dancers on stage, and at one point one of the off-duty dancers brought a tip up to the dancer on stage, and then she started giving her oral sex, right in front of the crowd. A bunch of guys kind of gathered around to get a closer view, and the show just kept getting better, as long as guys were handing up one-dollar tips, the girl on the floor kept licking and kissing the pussy of the dancer on stage. They seemed to be really into it. Beers were only $3, and were 2 for 1 at first. the "handler" came around every so often asking customers if they were interested in a private dance, where you could pick the dancer you want and go into a booth for $20 for two songs.
