I have stayed at the Oasis twice. The Junior Suite, if booked thru Beeline Travel is P2400.
I saw the Marlin Mansions from the outside and it did not look to pleasing. The Oasis is a quality place that the girls love to stay at. When you tell a girl your at the Oasis there is a bell that definitly rings.

Oasis is a great hotel to stay at for your Angeles City visit. Great rooms and a great pool with poolside bar to relax at during the day. The girls love to hang by the pool during the day which gives them an incentive to perform well so you let them hang with you all day with the possibility of an afternoon romp before you send them on their way.
It is a little far out from the action but this gives you a little more peace and quiet compared to the hotels closer to the bars. The trike or taxi ride to the main area is not bad at all so the distance doesn't really matter

Oasis, eh? I'm on the waiting list for an Orchid Suite and am looking for something comparible... or at least almost as nice...

Also, where is it located? I do not want to take Jeeps and Trikes back and forth all the time. What I like about Orchid is EVERYTHING is close and the rooms in the Jasmine wing are nice and quiet with the best AC in AC!! More info would be appreciated.

E -
Oasis is on Parimeter road and is a nice hotel actually a litle nicer than Orchid. Though you can't beat the location of Orchid. You will want a trike to go to Balibago if you stay there.

Hey Scooter,

You all packed up? I'm in London. Hit the Soho district. What a trip. Reminds me of Amsterdam... (prog)

By Scooter on Thursday, May 02, 2002 - 09:20 pm:  Edit

I leave Sunday, will be in Pattaya after business May 20. Will Likely hit AC around June 18 for 3 weeks? I may just go back and fourth between Pattaya - AC between Visas for a few months.

Sorry I will miss your send-off. I'm still looking at 3 weeks off this X-Mas/New Years in SEA so I wll be sure to stop by and see you in Pattaya.

I stayed here my first 3 nights, including my b-day on this trip. Here are my observations: First, the pool is nice but the shallow end is 4 ft. deep verses 3 ft. at the Orchid. This can make it difficult for your guest if she can't swim well. Second, the gym is small but a nice option when your barfine is crashed out. Third, many of the hotel guests are Asians with their families instead of mongers. Fourth, the breakfast buffet is free for hotel guests only. Also, they had a nice seafood buffet for lunch, but the price was P500. Finally, the hotel staff and service was top-notch. RW

Have stayed six or eight times at the Oasis and found the place to be wonderful... Great food, pool, location just far enough away from the action to not be distrubed by un-wanted visits, etc... Easy trike ride from the action..

Never stayed at the Orchid due to booking issues but the Oasis was great. I like privacy and this place has it. As for the girls, when you tell them you are staying at the Oasis thier eyes light up. Never had a runner at the Oasis. In fact I couldn't get rid of 'em.

I don't understand? Why are we posting reports over a year old?

By Hombre on Monday, August 05, 2002 - 08:15 pm:  Edit

Just because the information is over a year old does not mean it is not still relevant. Information posted on the Chat Boards is disorganized and hard to find. By moving some of the more valuable and useful information to the Discus Board we are allowing our users to find more relevant information quicker. A lot of good information makes it into the Chat Boards but not into Discus. We want this info to be more readily and easily available.

I agree with Hombre.
Recycling of good relevant information is always helpful. Saves lot of time for somebody like me who is just starting research on PI.

By Indyla on Wednesday, September 18, 2002 - 04:05 pm:  Edit

Ditto... right on, Hombre.

There is no substitute for historical data when educating one's self on a locale and it's varied offerings.

By Progman on Thursday, September 19, 2002 - 11:10 am:  Edit

I also agree - especially in AC. The hotel and bars made change names/ownership a lot but generally the type of service they provide doesn't change. Even if they do change it's interesting to see what changed (good or bad). You can use this information to determine whether or not a visit is warranted.

One more monger in agreement, plus if things change at a hotel someone is usually astute enough to make any corrections in a subsequent post.

By Mcdijj on Sunday, September 22, 2002 - 10:12 am:  Edit

OK! OK!

So I fired from the hip. I'll be staying at the Orchid 11/8 thru 11/11 first time in AC. Maybe a year from now I will post, "Never stayed at Oasis ... stayed at Orchid a year ago ... it was nice ... girls will go there with you" or something just as chock full of information as the post above that Hombre drug out of the graveyard.

PS;

You guys make a very valid point, I just don't want to give up that easy. Hope to see a few of you in AC this coming Nov.

Thanks Prog ... the M&M's did the trick.
INDY ... I think you just beat me to Phnom Phen, you going to make AC before I do?

McDijj, You made a great choice quality wise with the Oasis. You will not find a cleaner more well kept hotel than the Oasis, maybe with the exception of the resort on Clark, which is twice the price and miles away. My only complaint was the location, you need a P50 trike each time, but you never have to wait for one.The trip is a minor inconvenience, and the P50 trip won't break you. Looks like we're building up a pretty good group of mongers for November. We'll make sure we get you on the right track. Archie29621

I wanted to stay at this hotel but there was a convention nearby and the superior rooms were booked. The standard rooms were 1,900 and the nicer ones (junior suite I think) were 2,700. There were no discounts for low season, although many of the sites have stated that they will give you low season rates....I tried and was shut down. I guess it depends on their occupancy rate. The rooms were much nicer than all of the rooms in AC except Apartelle Royal which was comparable. There was a nice restaurant and a modern lobby. The place reminded me of a poor man's Hyatt Islandia in San Diego. The gardens surrounding the hotel and the pool were beautiful. Probably the nicest pool in AC. What I did like about the place is that the rooms had individual entries outside and were not inside of a long hallway. I thought the standard rooms were too small but the bigger rooms would be a great idea if available and you can get a deal. This hotel is around the corner from Clarkton down a side street and ending on a court.....the farthest hotel from the action.

I don't have a picture of this place so I'll just do a brief review. Suites list at 2700 pesos but you can get them through Beeline for 2400. As Blazers mentions in the prior post, all the rooms are accessed from the "grounds" like a tradional one story motel. The suites have a non airconditioned front room with sofa and chairs plus a small refrigerator. The bedroom can be closed off with folding doors or just left open to allow the ac unit to reach the front. The bedroom is spacious with a table, chair, and full sized TV that pulls in over 50 channels. The bed is huge, king sized, with the typical foam upper mattress. The bathroom has a closet, full length mirror, shower/bathtub combo, and all the freebies you need such as a toothbrush, extra soap, shampoo and the like.

The landscaping is immaculate and gives a real tropical feeling to what might otherwise be just a bunch of low buildings. The pool is good sized with a small bar and recreational area. The dinning room overlooks the pool. The food is average at the best with a large breakfast buffet. The entire staff is always smiling and eager to help you with anything you might need. Trykes can be obtained directly in front with a call from the door man or you can walk several blocks and grab one. 50 pesos downtown. 4 pesos with a jeepney. The place is absolutely quiet and a nice spot to return to after the noise and filth of the Fields area. No problems whatsoever with female guests. And I just got my credit card statement and no one tried to add on anything.

Thanks for info Tight Fit. I will be checking in 3/22. It sounds like exactly what I am looking for.

Hi TF,

I am looking at a first PI trip for next 4th of July. This hotel sounds good. I like getting away from the main bar areas.

By Tight_fit on Wednesday, December 08, 2004 - 10:34 pm:  Edit

Gitano, you'll like the place. It's not a AAA 5 Diamond resort but it's probably the best around. And those who call it isolated are correct but that's not a problem. There are always trikes available and the mini buses are only a block away. Just don't expect much out of the restaurant or look for naked women in the swimming pool.

PS: I think you are going to be disappointed with AC.

By Gitano on Thursday, December 09, 2004 - 01:28 am:  Edit

TF,

I was thinking of a one week trip that included a few days in Manila, a few days in AC, and a side trip to the beach. I have about 6 trips to SEA scheduled over the next year and want to at least sample Cambo and the PI. I have been happy with my Thailand adventures and have begun to look more closely at retiring there about 5 years out or so.

I would be interested in knowing why you think I will not like AC. You probably know me better than most others around here. I might skip AC and extend my beach time, if that makes sense.

Later,
G

AC has wall to wall available women but nothing else. For guys who are sex machines that works out fine. I need far more time to recharge. In the meantime there was absolutely nothing to do since I no longer drink. The dumpiness of AC cannot be overstated. :-)

Gitano, I like your idea of spliting the trip up with time in AC and then finding some nice beach area. I suspect that you will find Manila to be too crowded and too polluted. As I mentioned above I had wanted to go to the small island of Bohol. Maybe next time. Check the view shown on the following botique hotel:

Very Cool Mr. Fit. Thanks for the idea. Seems like Cebu City is a good kicking off point for the more tranquill destinations.

Stayed at the Oasis for two weeks in March '05 on my first trip then had to move to Clarkton for remainder of my trip because Oasis was all booked.

What's great:

Very quiet. I liked being away from the action to some extent. Very private rooms, great breakfast buffet, probably the best pool in Angeles, no problem bringing back girls. At the high end the rooms are fairly large. Decent security so you really feel safe and less like you are in a third world country. Very good about not letting girls back to your room without a call. Very important. Some of the best mango/fruit shakes in Angeles.

Things I didn't like:

As much as I like being away from the action it did get boring if I didn't create my own party by invited girls over to swim with the honeyko. Seems deserted during the day. Sometimes was the only one at breakfast. Everything is expensive and they charge you for everything. The food might as well be in dollars it costs so much. Add to that the extra costs of trike fairs to and from the center of town for you and your girls, no free internet (only a cafe which you pay for), everyone asking for tips - and the money adds up. I spent a whole lot of extra money staying here that could have gone to other uses. But it was great for a first trip. To be honest I loved the Clarkton much more and wished I had stayed there after my move and I saved a whole lot of money per night. The buffet and pool at the clarkton are alive. Not at the Oasis.

One last thing. I was here in March and the A/C struggled to keep the room cool. I would not recommend staying here in the summer until they invest in newer equipment.
