I recently visited Wicked Willy in Bali but only did a limited amount of mongering, limited to small brothel houses in Sanuk. They were within walking distance of the Bali Hyatt (as distinct from the Grand Hyatt, which is in a different area altogether).

I will try to see whether I can come up with any addresses later, but essentially there are a fairly large number of houses within a few blocks of the Bali Hyatt that can be spotted based on their address numbers. Those that have addresses in front of the house that contain a number followed by an "X" are house brothels. This means there are girls available, onsite and presumably for take out. From what I could gather, the standard rate is 250,000 rupiah per hour on-site. I suspect take out is around the same price. I don't doubt locals might get better deals, but hey, it still is under $30 US. It is unclear whether tipping (after the session) is standard, but I gave 50,000 rupiah after each of the two sessions I had.

At one house the papa-san (more like a pimp really) tried to get more from me, but I just said 250,000 (or at least communicated it somehow) and he said okay.

There was very little English spoken although one of the two sessions I had was with a girl who spoke English. The session once again re-confirmed that learning English somehow destroys a woman's sex drive (or, at least desire to satisfy a man) as the girl was largely a cold fish.

I am sure there are other places throughout Bali (where Wicked Willy told me P4P is legal, unlike in Jakarta where it is not, although largely tolerated) but I didn't really explore much in the P4P realm. Well, we did go to a karaoke place that had girls in a fishbowl (indicating they were likely available for sex) but we did not partake.

In any event, unlike what I earlier heard about Bali it seems P4P is, at least in some areas, all over the place. But I only did a limited sampling.

Those houses in sanur is about 150-800. I think the real price is around the low 100s but can go as high as 800 for ST if you go with a taxi. There are some KTVs in Kuta that have some stunners that are about 500k for a session if you go alone, but with a taxi, the price goes up to 1mil to 1.5 mil, that's how much of a difference going with a taxi makes. The best way around this is to hire a driver, tell him you know the real prices, and try to have him agree to no commission at the p4p places.

Socrates, thanks for the info. I do wonder though how recently you explored the houses of Sanur. Going in (and having read some old reports on another website) I had assumed the price was going to be 150, but every place (with the exception of the overly aggressive pimp mentioned above) quoted 250 (which as above probably was not the price locals pay). Given that the prices at some of the places in Jakarta have crept up quite a bit the last year or so, I had thought the 250 might have reflected some recent inflation. But I wasn't sure about this and along these lines am interested in how current your info is.

250 is a good price.

Just wanted to put a price range based on my experiences. My info is quite dated (2 yrs), but those local places are low end. However, perhaps all the papasans have an agreement to charge the bules 250 or more. I witnessed this phenomenon in Northern Thailand where a lay was a mere 200-300baht. That was the price for everyone. Once more foreigners started to come, the cops started to perform raids and requested higher payoffs. As a result, the papasans restricted foreigners from entering for a period of time (99% of their clientele were locals). Eventually, the allowed foreigners to P4P but they all agreed that they would all charge 500baht, and that was before the Japanese invaded the scene. The price may be higher now.
