Really, sorry to hear about the recent typhoon. These guys really got the shXt beat out of them.
What about trips that have been planned?
How long before we can visit AC or Subic Bay?
MM
PS:
I know, I did not spell "Typhoon" correctly!

I would probably wait a month or two until there is a resemblance of normalcy.

What can a person say about something like that. I almost started crying when I saw what was happening. Prayers for the Philippines...

It barely even rained in AC and Subic. Totally normal there now. Manila just some heavy rain. All the disaster occurred south of Luzon in Leyte and Samar..

Yeah, it all hit the middle and southern parts of the country. CBS news showed a graphic that if a storm that size would hit the east coast of the US it would stretch from Florida to New England. The PI is huge in territorial extension, a good amount of land but a hell of a lot more water.
You can be sure that somehow the AC area will be affected shortly by the arrival of military to Clark AFB from I would guess all over the civilized world. What a horrible blockbuster event...

Portege, once again giving bad advice based on zero knowledge of the situation. AC and Subic got a little rain, nothing more. Business as usual. And you're telling people to "wait a month or two"?
I don't think you'll see the military swarming Clark. First, it's no longer an AFB, and second, it's too far removed from Leyte and Samar. They'll be using bases much closer to the scene.
Talked to a girl on the ground in AC, and she says there's no change in business in AC, but mentioned that there are a lot of freaked out bargirls who come from Leyte and Samar who haven't been able to reach their families.

The issue would be that at least half of the bargirls and maybe more come from the areas hit the hardest. They might be trying to get back to their families albeit impossible.
The biggest issue will be girls bullshitting about the demise of their pamily to get guys to send WU money when their family is fine or not even from the areas hit by the typhoon. Sorry to be blunt, but that is the way they operate.

It would probably be more than likely their families will want to get to move to this area. Maybe even an influx of new talent coming into the area.

I just came back today. I was in AC when the storm hit and it really did not affect AC at all. Some strong wind for a few hours, some heavy rain for a few hours.
Really one day semi unusual severe weather but after that the same old AC working in all cylinders.
Tacloban and Samar in general got the shit kicked out of them for sure. No way for those girls to be leaving work and going there right now...even relief corps having a hard time going in...
Cebu and Boracay spared from ground reports while we were there. Palawan airport is damaged so travelling there maybe limited for a while...up to a month someone said.
If anything there may be a influx of family members and FOB ceweks in the next few months while recovery ongoing...going to take a few months at least.
We did try to contact some friends in Tacloban to no avail...but there is no power so cell batts are probably all gone...does not mean the owner of cell is gone of course...but the chicks are freaked out about it...we tried to consoled them as best as we could (not being sarcastic here).
Subic I did not hear anything remarkable about it.
So if AC, Manila or CEbu are your main targets I would not worry about it.
Back in februray for some relief work...and also not joking or being sarcastic here.
But in April is all about partying baby!
Who is gong to be around?

Bwana_dik: portege wasn't giving bad advice, he's just saying what the outcome could be, you just want a reason to flame him.
By Bwana_dik on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 - 08:49 am: Edit |
Redbus, are you trying to prove that you're as dim as Portege?
Mission accomplished.
By Don Marco on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 - 10:49 am: Edit |
What Bwana said!
Well I guess the only difference is I get a few more messages saying how much they miss me and can I send some pesos for their family...
By Redbus on Thursday, November 14, 2013 - 04:34 am: Edit |
proved my point, your flaming me now bwana.
By Bwana_dik on Thursday, November 14, 2013 - 02:21 pm: Edit |
No, Redbus. You're not flameworthy. I'm just stating a fact.
By Redbus on Friday, November 15, 2013 - 04:31 am: Edit |
Bwana: If I'm not flameworthy then why do you keep answering my post.
By Fooledagain1 on Friday, November 15, 2013 - 05:41 pm: Edit |
Answering a post and flaming are 2 totally different things.
Portege has given horrendous advice on the site in the past, and he did it again this thread.
He did not have a clue what he was talking about advicing the OP to wait a month or 2 before traveling to AC or Subic.

I dont really visit this board anymore. Im over on the Pattaya Secrets board now. This is my first time back here in months...maybe even a year. I live in Pattaya now building a new business and that keeps me busy.
I know the Angeles City area itself wasnt effected. My biggest worry would be hearing constant stories about the typhoon and it would cast a certain shadow over the experience. I saw pictures of the area and there were dead bodies scattered everywhere in some places...even mass graves being dug. I could imagine visiting and getting an earful of stories every time I step outside the door. Personally, I would rather stay away from the country for several months and hang out in Pattaya.
In any event, you should donate some cash whether it be ten dollars or a hundred dollars. Every little bit counts. Seeing the pictures of dead bodies and mass graves...its time to break out the wallet and give.
