Single travelers planning to find companions need to stay away from this place. I wound up here alone by committing marriot rewards points for nearly free five night stay.
Unfortunately, the resort is on Mai Khao beach at the far northwest corner of the island and just about everything around it is a marriot affiliate. Resort and rooms are beautiful. Beach has too much slope and water is over your head before you get 20 feet from shore. Big negative is LG 42 inch televisions only have 720p resolution and did not work worth a damn as computer monitor.
Taxi to where the ladies are at Patong Beach is 1000 baht each way and about one hour ride. I never had opportunity to find out what the joiner policy is at resort, but it would be very easy to sneak girl around the front desk by walking beach route.
I booked a scuba trip with Marriots on-site diving affiliate and was charged 2000 baht transportation to boat in Phuket City. Fortunately it was a FOUR DIVE package (3 day + 1 night) to Kho Phi Phi Island and the boat cruised right past "The Beach" where Leonardo Di Crapio movie was filmed. A storm two weeks earlier stirred up the sea badly and visibility was only 20 feet, so it was not spectacular and the big fish were gone.
Marriot does not have car rental on-site and you definitely want to have car while staying here unless you bring someone that you really want to be alone with for a while.
Marriot resort food is high priced, but there are several local thai dining options about 0.5 km south of the main gate and a little shopping plaza about 0.3 km north of the main gate.

Not trying to give you a hard time, but didn't you realize the Marriott was a long haul from any of the action? That's why nobody has every reported on staying there.
You would have been better off staying in a cheap place in Patong (there are some nice, relatively inexpensive boutique hotels in Patong) and saving your Marriott points for BKK, as the JW in BKK is quite nice and literally right behind Nana Plaza.
