I've read many little things about Hainan Island over the last few years, especially from TSM Travel. However, I've never been there and recently this island came to light with the US plane that was downed there.

Anyway, it's been said that this area has some of the most beautiful women and is very, very cheap.

Hainan Dao (Island) is a large tropical island in the South China sea. Previously administered by the Government of Guangdong province, in 1988 it became Hainan Province. Now, it is a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), similar to Zhuhai and Shenzen. This gives it a certain amount of ministerial freedom from the Central Government. In fact, it is the a private playground elite members of the Central Government, and rarely gets a Gong An shakedown, like in Guangzhou. In Hainan, however, corruption is the rule. It is famous for having one of its governors executed for importing USD $300 Million of Jeeps and embezzling most of it.

Now..former Chief of Guanxi Province is in the same pickle, I hear now. He's waiting for his family to buy the bullet that blows his brains out. Hainan is the most southern area in China, near the disputed Spratly and Paracel islands. A large Chinese Air Force fighter base is located here. A top secret nuclear facility is there too. Around the base, are hundreds of hooker houses. Price is almost free. Haikou is the capital of Hainan province.

Get there by booking through Dragon Air out of Hong Kong CLK airport. About USD $100 each way, add $20 for business class (I do). Save about 50% by flying from Shenzen airport. From Haikou, you can fly virtually anywhere into Mainland China via China Southwest Airlines. Xian, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzen, Chengdu, Kunming, Beijing. It is a very convenient crossroads to points inside China. You will need a Visa to visit China.

I have heard, but not confirmed, that you can get a visa on the spot, good only for Hainan SEZ. But not confirmed. Shenzen and Hainan since they are SEZ's are the only inbound gateways to China not requiring a visa, I am told. Do not depend on this. Get a multiple entry visa before entering. Dialects spoken are: Mandarin, Cantonese, Hainan Dialect, and Miao Minority Dialect. English is virtually never heard. No English menus, no English speaking service personnel, no English speaking taxi drivers. Guide are difficult. You might find a taxi driver. But I wouldn't trust one. Best is to find a Singapore or HK guy to tag along with. Or an American Chinese guy. Offer to pay for his pussy a few days.

Virtually all hotels are ASFO friendly. Without exception. Most have an inventory of girls in the lobby awaiting your arrival. The bellman will point them out to you. The girls are not afraid of laowai guys (foreigners)

Prices: Short Time: 300 Yuan ($36... $. 2 per yuan) base, expect quotes of up to 1000 Yuan. Average is 400-500. If you have some Mandarin skills, subtract 30%. Minority girls, and local Hainan Girls are less. Miao girls are wonderful, but may have chicken shit between their toes.

Haikou - BinHai Road Lu. Center of action. Golden Hotel is good. SanYa. The Kona of Hainan. Near miles of unspoiled beaches. Islands. Seafood. Lot's of Chinese tour groups however. Pussy galore. Don't go Chinese New Year. Prices 3x. Stay in hotel by the beach. Some very expensive, 5 star. Expect at least 1000 Yuan (RMB) for hotel girls. They hang around garden areas. Must give 50% to management. Some stunners, however. Chickens cruise beach at 1 hr after sunset. You get swim and fuck in the water in the moonlight about 300RMB. Take her to your hotel room. Fuck again add +100. Ask her to dance for you.

Qionghai...for locals. Massage parlor next to main square. 50-75 little chickens. 300RMB Full Service Boob Thai style massage. Boob Massage, suck and fuck. 90 minutes. Overtime ok. Shoot as many times as you can. No problem. Nice mama san. Play cards with the girls. They win every time. Or let them. Minority Villages. Many. Visitors from countries and regions with diplomatic or official relations with China who wish to stay within Hainan Province for 15 days on business or pleasure can obtain a travel visa upon arrival at the ports of Haikou and Sanya. Visitors wishing to stay more than 15 days can apply for an extension to their visa with appropriate reasons supplied to authorities.

In addition, according to the relevant regulations, the travelers are allowed to stay Hainan within 15 days without China Visa, if they have organized group tour in Hainan Island by the certified travel agencies, and are from these 21 countries, i.e., Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Germany, England, France, Australia, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Holland, America, Canada, Austria and New Zealand.

Residents of Hong Kong and Macau and overseas Chinese can enter Hainan Province using their Chinese passport or other certified travel documents. Residents of Taiwan can apply for a special single-entry travel certificate at the ports of Haikou or Sanya

I've travelled to Beijing, China for some business trips, but since I'm almost always with colleagues(READ: uptight boring engineers) I have a hard time getting any in beijing. So during my last trip in march 2002 I took vacation when I was in china and went to hainan for a week. and WOW this place is amazing.

EVERYTHING is legal, and even encouraged because tourism is Hainan's #1 income.

Hainan is a combination of hawaii and bangkok, beautiful island weather, beautiful island(and lots of mainland) girls. and VERY CHEAP!! my first 3 girls were all from the red light district, each of them only costed me 250RMB, and all 3 of them were absolutely gorgeous!! I met another foreigner there and we made the mistake of going to hawaii hotel in Sanya(the city in the southern island) and got ripped off there after we got done.

Not too many foreigners know about this heaven, which is surprising considering how close it is to Hong Kong, but this place is definitely worth going.

Is there a language barrier? Can one converse in English on this island or is a translator needed?

Chinese New Year is in February next year.
I hear it is packed with holiday makers at that time.

I will be in Sanya for 3 nights in early February is there a red light district, or any recommendations would be appreciated.
