Apparently, because of the glut of hotels in Pattaya, this is the easiest place to find good and inexpensive accomodations in Thailand.
Still, seasoned travelers must have some fine recommendations for their fellow mongers. Where do you stay?

I have been to Pattaya twice in the last two years, including last month. On my first visit I stayed at the Sunshine Hotel on Soi 8. It's surrounded by outdoor beerbars, travel agents, and internet shops. I paid 450 baht per night, without breakfast. It's at best a 2-star hotel, and the property is old and somewhat rundown. It does have going for it, however, a nice pool and poolside restaurant, free safety boxes, and no problems with overnight guests. The hotel is popular with German tourists. Last month I showed up without a reservation, and the only room available was a tiny room with a single bed for 350 baht. I stayed just one night, and moved next door to the Eastiny Place. The Eastiny Place is brand new and spotless, and the rate is 800 baht per night, without a breakfast. The rooms are quite large, and each one has a balcony. As with the Sunshine, the Eastiny gives each room a free safety box and has a no-hassle guest policy. The major drawback with this place is that there is construction going on along both sides of the property, and can be noisy during the daylight hours. A friend of mine stayed at the sister property Eastiny Inn further down Soi 8, and he paid 1,100 baht for a room similar to that of the Eastiny Place.

I stayed at the Jomtien Beach hotel... It is a bit out of the way but it is a nice place. I would not recomend Welcome Plaza... The room I had there was a dump and service was poor. Any of the hotels on the beach (Pattaya or Jomtien) are generally nice but you get what you pay for as they are more expensive.

Pattaya Hotels-
Ceasar Palace - Pattaya 2nd @ soi 8. 800B nice large rooms, great pool, bad service/management. They cater to mostly tour groups from other parts of asia (Taiwan ect...). They have guests sign in and leave ID. If the manager wasn't such a ahole I would stay there again.
PC house. Pattaya 2nd between soi 7 & 8. 350B - 600B. This is a family run hotel with newly renovated rooms (I was actually the first person to stay in the room). Great deal for the price. The 350B rooms were small but clean, good AC, mini bar ect.. the 600B rooms were large and on lower floors. There is a beer bar in front of the hotel and the family also just opened one on soi 7. The lobby restaurant had good food at good prices. I will likely stay there my next trip. The only down side is no elevator.
Penthouse - Quick note - They are still doing renovations (so it can be noisy) ... actually its noisy there anyways. But they are putting in a Elevator as well as a swimming pool.
Last not a hotel but a restaurant of interest.
Soi 7 just off beach road is "Tequilla Reef" owned and operated by a guy from San Diego. You guessed it Mexican grub. So now you can get Fish Tacos in Pattaya... in case the Thai food is wearing thin on your system.

Hi Scooter,
Thanks for the update on the Penthouse. I'm planning on being there over New Years eve. With the improvements we can certianly expect an increase in room prices. I am waiting now for them to finalize my reservation as they have not yet decided on their NY program. When they get back to me I'll post an update. The addition of a pool will be a big plus, I never really minded the stairs although some of the girls had problems in their platform shoes. Whats with those sneakers with 5 inch thick soles anyways? Can't wait for that fashion to lose popularity....lol I prefer stiletto heels on my girls.

I stayed at the Sabai lodge on Soi 2 the last time I was in Pattaya. It's a bit north of most of the action though not far.theres a little seen right there on Soi 2 but I didn't stop at any of those beer bars.I thought the place was nice.I got a good sized room across from the very nice pool on the first floor for about 850 a night.$19 at the time.Would recomend the place.I'd say it's a step up from the Apex or the Flipper lodge.

I stayed at the sabai last April and it is great a little far from all the action but you will get a good nights sleep there (if you want one) and the staff are excellent.

Anybody know anything about the Diamond Beach Hotel in pattaya?
By Frndawg on Saturday, August 14, 2004 - 10:50 pm: Edit |
Diamond Beach is centrally located. At least for the Sites that I visited. Very reasonable rates. Can't remember but they were lower than others. Roof had a jacuzzi & bar.
Rooms were fine & air conditioned.
Very accomodating staff.

Travelsrr,
I have stayed in about 10 differant hotels in Pattaya, of them I like the Diana Inn on second road, opposite the newest Mike store.
Cost is about 650 baht plus, rooms are OK, have hot water and a good breakfast buffet, also the restaurant is good food at reasonable prices, has a nice swimming pool as well, maybe not big enough to smim laps though.
Its about 10 mins or so from walking street and and about the same distance to Soi 8.

In room safes are about as rare as virgins in Pattaya.
By Porker on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 04:55 am: Edit |
Apex hotel on Second Road is a DUMP but they had an old fashioned lock box in the room.
I believe the serviced apartments at Bella Villa Prima across from the hospital on Soi 4 had them. That place had pretty damned great amenities for less than 1100 baht per night during low season. They also had no vacancy when I walked in and tried to get a room. Email addressfrom the card I took in July was bella@loxinfo.com.th I believe Epimetheus has stayed there before and can confirm this info.
By Epimetheus on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 08:16 pm: Edit |
Bella Villa Prima does indeed have safes in every room. Checked with them and they are booked up through the new year. Also, high season pricing is in effect through Feb, then again during Songkran.
I've found a few places with safes, but it tends to be the smaller, older hotels. Small places tend to not have ROOM for security boxes in their lobbies, and so opt for the in room option. When your lobby is the size of a postage stamp you're lookin' for every option!!

RABBIT RESORT: Does anybody know anything about this place? Not for the budget monger. The single story cottage is 4000 baht/night. Also seems to have upscale restaurants. How difficult is it to get rid of pooyang after a night at someplace like this?

RABBIT RESORT update: Just received this response to an inquiry for November 2005 accomodations. They are guest friendly for a price. At least I have to thank them for being up front about the situation and may still stay here because it looks like a really nice resort. Beware of Travelocity, they are asking about three times the price found on the resorts own website and confirmed by this email.

By Mcdijj on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 - 03:06 pm: Edit |
I walked by this place yesterday. Looks pretty swank. Beautiful grounds w/iron gates and guards. But you don't need iron gates and guards in Pattaya! It's all for show ... a display of status. The very fact that the name of this place is "Rabbit" smacks strongly of Japanese who have a lot of sexual connotations connected with that critter (well, so does Hugh Heefner and Playboy Enterprises). The Japanese might be getting their money's worth here because of the pleasure they derive from knowing that others are seeing them spend their money lavishly. In my opinion it's kind of like wiping your ass with $100 bills. A rich Japanese man might remove all the toilet paper from his guest bathroom and leave only a stack of bills. He won't get to watch his guests wipe their ass or even see they look on their faces when they realise what is going on. But, he will know that they know and will whisper this to others.
Unless you get off on the same "Display of Wealth" fetish YOU won't be getting your money's worth. IMHO it doesn't matter how many boxes of $100 bills you have laying around the house, there are far better ways of purchasing luxury in Pattaya
By Hot4ass2 on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 - 11:46 pm: Edit |
Hi McDijj, Regarding Rabbit Resort: I certainly am not wealthy or pretentious enough to replace toilet paper with money, but I have been known to switch to a roll with pictures of pResident Bush on every sheet. My interest had more to do with Thai girls throwing in all the extras to WIN a second night. I don't think that will happen in the 900 Baht fleabags, but that may be my Pattaya virgin dick dreaming. Where do you recommend for cost effective luxury????
By Mcdijj on Thursday, July 28, 2005 - 01:53 am: Edit |
You are asking the wrong guy that question. I'm a mid-priced part time monger. Like I said in my last post, I've "walked past" a lot of nice ones. Hopefully Khun Mor will respond on this thread again, He would be a better source than I. If not, a lot of the fellows who choose to spend a bit more seem to like the luxury Suites at Sandy Springs. You can access some information on that place, including their web page, by clicking on "Topics" to the left of this page followed by; asia>thailand>pattaya>hotel>sandy spring.
By Mongerx on Thursday, July 28, 2005 - 05:49 am: Edit |
900 Baht rooms are not fleabags in Pattaya. Also, I think getting a room at Sabai Lodge for less than 1300 Baht and then slapping the 4000 baht saved on top of the girl's tip will be a lot more effective. Hell make it a game where if the girl does something you especially like and gives you great pleasure you give her 200 baht on the spot. For example tell her you have some Lucky spots on your body and if the licks them long enough she will win 200 baht. Watch that girl go crazy trying to win the game.
Remember these girls come from very very humble beginnings and are used to sharing tiny swelter sweat box sleeping on the floor with many others. A decent hotel room is more than enough to make them very comfortable. If you want enjoy a luxorious room do it because you will enjoy it, not because you think it is going to give the girl extra motivation. There are much more fun and effective ways to do that IMHO.
By Khun_mor on Thursday, July 28, 2005 - 08:30 pm: Edit |
The suites at Sandy Spring are far from luxury but are very comfortable and clean. Get a seaview room and the girls love to just sit and look at the view - if you let them that is.
I totally agree with Mc Dijj and MX-- do not waste your money on a room just to impress a girl. She will only think you are a botomless ATM and be even more mercenary. You can get plenty of GFE and hot sex in a basic comfortable room. It's all luxury to these girls. It's about your attitude and having a good time that will make her truly want to repeat with you for more than just the baht she can squeeze out.
By I_am_sancho on Friday, July 29, 2005 - 07:32 am: Edit |
I have had several ladies comment that I had paid to much for my room and I should stay in a cheaper place. Apparently they did not want to see me waste my money on a hotel when I could be wasting it on them instead.
By Khun_mor on Friday, July 29, 2005 - 08:49 pm: Edit |
You mean that 5 star palace you posted pics of in Cambo I asssume ?? LOL
I get the same rsponse even in the modest suite at Sandy Spring. " Why you need such big room ?
How much you pay ? Why you pay too much ? "
Inquisitive lil darlins aren't they ?
By Sojourner on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 - 01:18 am: Edit |
I_am_sancho,
Many hotels have two prices. One for farangs, and one for Thais. If you happen to find yourself taking a favorite bg somewhere on a weekend or have a thai girlfriend, ask her to call and make the reservation, and there's a good chance she'll get you a better rate. I have a thai girlfriend and many times I'll also have to let her register the room in her name to get the cheaper rate, not a big deal if you're paying cash and not worrying about kicking her out during your stay.

Hi Bwana dik, I’ve stayed at both and had my best time at the Siam Bayshore which is at the very end of walking street. When you stay at either you will have pool privileges at both. Internet rate is around 55 dollars and any Thai travel agent can get you that rate or maybe a little better plus a free breakfast. Ask for a room on the lower level that is around the pool. Its great you can walk out on your balcony and you’re just a few steps away from the pool. Consider giving Siam Bayshore a try you’ll enjoy it a lot and you can get to the bars on walking street in 2 mins walk. They are girl friendly at both places. When you make reservations just make them for two and you’ll have no worries. Heres a pic of the pool area thats worth a thousand words.

i'm leaning towards siam bayshore or bayview. rates are about the same as hard rock.

I stayed at the hard rock in 2004. The rooms are not the best but the pool is the best in pattaya. I had a double and took girls to my room. You could probably do better for the price.
By Denny27 on Monday, February 13, 2006 - 10:28 am: Edit |
Stayed in King suite at Hard rock last year, over priced for size of room, free lounge on 10th floor is ok if you go king class and breakfast is also served there and free drinks same place in the evening. Also free access to PC in lounge for e-mail and stuff. Jap Bath ( high sided cube shape affair)
was a downer as you cant stretch and relax, just bob up and down like a hippo. Food good as you would expect, have since tried both Bay view /shore and not bad for price. but going back to Amari resort for 3rd time at the end of this month, everthing 1st class. Though the hotel they are building close by is going to be a Landmark I am told, which should be worth a visit when opened.
ps Hard rock did want to charge me 900 baht on the evening I took two ladies back, one was OK as I had booked for 2 persons, but 3 was noted when we returned about midnight ( nobody about so we were hard to miss) though got it compted when I raised the fact we had all had dinner in the HR cafe and spent a good part of the evening watching the band and drinking on the premises.
Oh also the condoms in the room are not free !
part of the mini bar set up.
Wherever you stay have a great time and IMHO some
of the best girls in Pat work in Soi Diamond the go go's, so don't slide on by, take a look.

Thanks for the review Denny, With mostly a regular tourist crowd and that can make it somewhat more difficult place in terms of being girl friendly. You're so right about soi diamond. I Had so much fun in Pattaya this time did not seriously think about Cambo and I never though Id say that.

These Hotels are right next to the action in soi diana, Honey girls a gogo, club oases, paradise a gogo. Also the famous walking street is a long way from here, so you may have to take a motorbike taxi to get there.

I stayed at the Honey Inn once.
There was a beer bar up the street and another on the other side of the block that blasted sounds (music? that's arguable) so loud that the windows shook. Guess how many nights I stayed.
I guess if you're going to be out until past closing time or too drunk to notice it might be ok.

Looking for a hotel in Pattaya that has an in room jacuzzi, or at least a large tub that I can toss a couple of Thai spinners in for my up cumming vacation.
I already know about the Penthouse, and Heavens Above, and those are off my list.

RG: Have you looked into the LK properties? They are a bit pricey. http://www.lkpattaya.com/
I have stayed at the Metropole and visited the Royal Suite. They are 3-star hotels IMHO. The Renaissance - I have not personally seen but according to their website they have an entry level Studio for 2000 baht/night with jacuzzi. They are very well-decorated. However they tend to mess up reservations so I would be careful booking. If you speak Thai, then your problems should be minimized.
also How about the Butterfly Sky Suite on Soi 6? Can't find their reservations website but found this video which show the in room jacuzzi.http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8238819227028599858
