A short list:
1. Chatuchak outdoor market on the weekend.
2. The Royal Palace/Temple of the Emerald Buddah
3. Ruins and elephant ride in Ayutthaya (bout an hour from BKK)
4. Floating market.
5. Pantip plaza for cheap bootleg cd's/dvds.
6. Siam plaza for a movie in the nicest theater you'll ever visit (barcolounger seats and drink service before the movie)
7. Have a drink at the Oriental Hotel (classic BKK opulence).
8. Get pampered by gorgeous Thai babes while having your hair cut, feet massaged, etc...

Lots more, but that's what comes readily to mind if you looking for an alternative to soapies.

In addition, I would add:
1. Wat Po and Wat Arun
2. National Museum
3. Jim Thompson's house
4. Hanging out at some of the big shopping malls, such as Emporium, MBK, World Trade Center, Siam Discovery.
5. Observation deck on top of the Baiyoke tower, tallest building in Thailand.
6. Exploring Chinatown and the thieve's market
7. Posting updates of your exploits at an internet cafe for your fellow Hombre's vicarious enjoyment.

Pattaya has a lot of ocean sports available -- parasailing, diving, jet skis, etc. There is a very nice sidewalk that runs along the beach, with hundreds of beach umbrellas and lounge chairs.
GFE experiences galore in Pattaya. I often take a Pattaya gal(s) longtime, before going back to the room, we check out some of the discos at night, then go back to the room and fuck like bunnies, hit the sack, get up, another make out session, have breakfast, and then, if they want to hang out more, go to the beach to just relax or do some watersports. The girls also love to go shopping. Alternatively, if I didn't have an all nighter, many of the beer bars open late mornings, so I often go to a beer bar on Soi 7 and take out a companion for the day.

If you get a chance, hire a speed boat to get to an island called Koh Lon (20 minutes), the beaches are clean, scenic, and very relaxing. Plenty of beachside seafood places with lounge chairs and good shopping as well. The island has a shooting range with some interesting interesting assortment of guns (expensive). There's also a shooting range near Tiffany theatre, where they have this so-so transvestite show at nights.

There are also plenty of malls and shopping venues in Pattaya, with Malls that remind you of the States. Golfing is available, but have not tried it. A lot of touristy things to do like going to elephant shows, tiger shows, etc.

One way to hit some of the places in BKK others have listed is to take the Skytrain to the River, then a river taxi (not one of the rip-off tourist boats; the river taxi is something like 5 or 10 baht) up to the Grand Palace. From the Grand Palace a tuk tuk to Wat Po (just a bit south of the Grand Palace if I have my bearings right). You also could hit Wat Arum using the cross-river taxi from either the Grand Palace of Wat Po, I can't remember which. Also, there is a Chinatown stop on the River taxi between the Skytrain station and the Grand Palace/Wat Po. And, keep in mind that the Oriental Hotel is in the general vicinity of the Skytrain stop near the river and can be reached from there by a courtesy shuttle boat.
While at Wat Po you could try a traditional thai massage (non-sexual. And finally, if you are up in the morning, not in a touristy mood but in a mongering mood, Barron's (Sukhumvit Soi 24) opens around 10 a.m. or 10:30; oily massage plus sex; two hours @ 800 baht to Barron's, 1500 baht to the girl. Have fun!
I don't know what to recommend with respect to Pattaya in the day. There are apparently some decent golf courses but I haven't checked them out.

If I do not have a " regular " friend to spend time with , I often barfine one or two girls from the Golden beer bar at Nana Hotel-- only 300 baht. BKK has great movie theaters, bowling alleys, pool parlors etc . Or just let them be tour guides and show you the city. They love to get away from the bar and if you chose right they can be great social companions and actually become good friends. These girls love to have fun and are a riot to hang around with. If you do not speak Thai it may be a little more difficult - need girls who are more conversant in English.
