Found this on the net.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - A hotel on the Thai holiday island of Koh Samui has banned American tourists in a protest against the U.S.-led war in Iraq, its owner said on Friday.
Virach Pongchababnapa, owner of the 62-room Pavilion Resort on the island, 550 miles south of Bangkok, said U.S. visitors were not welcome because he was against the U.S. campaign to overthrow Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

He said he had already turned away two American tourists, provoking protest letters and emails from other U.S. citizens.

"I have politely told them that I am opposed to the policies of their government, and Americans are not welcome here," he told Reuters. "My resort is against war mongers."

A spokesman for the U.S. embassy in Bangkok was not available for immediate comment.

I think this is funny and I get a kick out of people's thinking. What was better was this quote.

"I have no weapon, my weapon is my rooms. Thus I have decided not to accept American travellers, and hence my resort would be safe from any possible attack on US citizens," he said.

More info:

About six per cent of Thailand's 10.8 million foreign visitors in 2002 were Americans, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

The director of TAT's Koh Samui branch, Panu Woramit, said Virach's policy was a personal decision and did not reflect island sentiment.

"That does not represent the policy of the tourism business on Koh Samui, we still welcome American tourists," Panu said.

Thailand is the region's tourism superpower, earning an estimated 8.5 billion dollars in revenue from the industry last year, up 11.5 percent on 2001 according to TAT.

The tropical islands in the majority-Muslim south are a particularly favourite international draw.

Thai media on Friday showed images of protestors in southern Thailand emptying bottles of Pepsi in the streets to publicise a boycott of US goods.

DJ
It's only one asshole with a 62 room dump. He probably gets 3 American tourists a year, but now he is in the fuckin Bangkok Post, Nation , and I'm sure in Thai newspapers and on TV. He has generated more publicity for his little hole in the wall with this meaningless gesture than he could have doing anything else. The fuckin french are probably all blowing this guy as we speak. Remember he is in the south where muslims are a higher percent of population than anywhere else in Thailand. This is one place I would love to show up at. If he denied my stay- I would not be the polite farang tourist. However that would only give him more pub I guess.

Assholes are universal- a Thai asshole looks like any other asshole !!
