The police have closed down the Clinton Plaza, the newest of the bar complexes. Excuse was drug dealing. Alos closing is now 1.00 am, although I beleive the law is a 2.30.am close.
Whats next?

IMHO: Clinton plaza was/is owned by mostly non-thais. closing it up is way better than planting a bomb or the like ( like happens in rival businesses in thailand)

I think all the early hour closings are money dirven ( just can't beleive it is a moral issue with thais)

I bet all the low profile thai bars ( catering to thais) don't close early.

The few I have been in are way more sleazy than in nana, patpong, ect. ( if it was a morals issue)

Clinton was open during our trip November 2001 but not as busy as Nana Plaza. The White House was closed, but the Dollhouse was going strong with some better than average talent. There were two other go-gos open but we didn't go inside. The Road House had moved to Nana. The beer bars all around Clinton had a fair number of people.

And the Dollhouse seemed to be taking no chances with Clinton closing. There was a new Dollhouse under construction on Soi Cowboy.

I've never been to Bangkok, but from what I read Bangkok and the entire Thai scene is about to implode from government mandates.

The Interior minister has been told to cool it. Whether he takes any notice is a different matter.

I agree with d'Artagnan. In November, Clinton was quiet, although Nana was cookin'. I'm heading back in two weeks, and if BKK is quiet including Nana, I will escape to Pattaya. If it's quiet there too (cannot imagine that), I'm off to Cambodia. If Americans aren't welcome in PP just then... hell, I'm almost to the Phillippines...

don't overlook Phuket/Patong Beach as an alternative in Thailand. They have a great massage joint (christin's) with the fish bowl, soapy bath/raft thing, etc... Also, obviously have the usual go-go bar thing (Rock Hard and Play School are my favorites).

You have to fly but the flight is dirt cheap ($125 or so) from BKK and only takes an hour.
Dec through Feb is reportedly the high season so there will be plenty of action.

Cool. I will need options in case BKK goes dry while there. More research...

I have been to the LOS over a dozen times in the past 15 years. Most of the usual places have definitely changed since 9/11, very slow compared to the way it was I think anyway, but this little island paradise is getting quite nice from a monger's perspective. I usually stay at a nicer hotel, but that is a personal preference, and since they are mostly all bungalows, there is never a problem bringing the girls back. I have an "in" with the owners of Chaweng Buri and paid about half the going rate (@1500b for a nice unit near the beach That's only $35 so I think it is worth it) and the units are awesome. All Teakwood and cleaner than my house. Of course, many people like staying at less expensive places, I like comfort. There are many, many places to choose from and at all price levels.
The last 2 times there were new beer bars open in Chaweng and the selection of girls was great! A ratio of 20 girls to each guy overall I would say. My first night I ate a simple dinner at a sidewalk place on the little dirt road heading to the Reggae Pub and there were several newer Beer Bars w/pool tables along the roadside. 2 girls from each place across the road came running over when they saw me sit down and insisted I cum for a visit. I thought for a while a catfight was going to break out! That would have been interesting!! Anyway, I hit each of them on successive nights (starting with the furthest one out to save problems!) and took home a cute little BG each time. The last was the best (of course!) and I ended up keeping her around for my last 3 nights. Did the island, did her many times a day, life is good! The Reggae Club became our playground at night (After 11pm) and watching bootlegged first run movies in the movie-bars in Chaweng while having dinner every night (TIT!) was a nightly event as well.
On my last night we walked back to the hotel at @2am and we grabbed a blanket from the room, went out and lay on the beach. My girl gave me the best, longest, slowest, BBBJ to completion I have ever had. I came, she swallowed and then I played with her for a little bit, eating her until she came a few times (she was a VERY wet girl!) then since I was hard again, we fucked like rabbits right there on the beach with about a half-moon lighting up the show! A few hotel security people saw us going at it over the next several hours but did not bother us. We went back into our room as the sun came up holding hands. We dressed, went out to eat something, did a little shopping and came back to pack.
Packing only took about 20 minutes, so we had a few more hours of fun, then it was off to the airport and the long trek home.
I am planning a 2 week trip for end of March, early April and I think I will spend the obligatory 2 nights in BKK, 3-5 nights in Pattaya and the rest on Koh Samui. The beaches are mostly very clean, the water is warm, the girls are hot and the bars all have cold beer. What more can anyone want?!
One word of caution: Avoid the Full Moon Festival! Unless you like thousands of screaming, crazy, white people milling about all night long while you are trying to get laid, then this is not for you. I made this mistake once and will never do it again.

I thought the full moon parties were some of my major highlights of my trips. I assume you are talking about the one on Koh Phanan. They also or used to have a party on Koh Sumai, but I didn't think it was the full moon party, but a spinooff of it

Try the Tradewinds next to the Central four star hotel. Bungalos on the beach for about the same price you mentioned. Take a walk around the Central and have a couple of cocktails at the bar there. It's fucking unbelievable.

All I can say is I second your emotions on Samui totally. It's probably my favorite place.

PS Boxers from Chawang stadium go by the boat loads regularly to the full moon on Phanan to kick any wise ass farang butt that gets out of line.

Full moon used to be good in the old days but I think it's better to be avoided now.
