Apartelle
By Blazers on Saturday, May 03, 2003 - 01:25 pm:  Edit

I discus this place in my report but this place has the best rooms of all of hotels I looked at in AC and Clark. There is a website which you can access through Balibago.com. I paid $32 a night for my place but could have upgraded to $40 for the jacuzzi suite.
The Good:
-25 inch flat screen tv suspended on a swivel so you can watch in the living room, bed or dining table.
-AC has a remote and works perfect without brownouts as they use the Camelot generator\
-In room safe, studio apartment that is 50 squre meters to my estimation, large closet space, kitchen with new equipment, dining table, large couch with two full-sized wicker chairs, queen-sized bed, new bathroom.
-walking distance to everything, you are in the heart of AC
The Bad:
-Located right above Camelot so all the girls from local bars can see you butterfly.
-On the weekends you can slightly hear the Pinoy sing broken English Karaoke songs.
-No room service

They have a nice website with additional photos of the rooms.

Is the noise from Camelot audible? How late does the karaoke go on? (I moved from the "Hibiscus" wing of the Orchid to the back of the Jasmine due to disco noise on my last trip.)

Blazers was right on with his rec. I moved here from the Orchid and found it to be far superior -- exceptionally clean, roomy and quiet. Plenty of hot water and all the furniture was new and well maintained. It is a 3-5 minute walk to where all the action is. I stayed in #7, which is out towards the back, it was very quiet, secluded and nice. I did notice some noise at nights, especially the rooms by the stairwell. There is no elevator, so its a pain to walk up the stairs.

Be warned that the rooms are always booked b/c there are not a lot of rooms to begin with. There are no common amenities like a pool, or lobby, or room service if that is important to you.

I also got ticked off at the door girl from Camelot downstairs, who kept eyeing me with each girl that I came in with. Camelot is downstairs and the entrance to the apartment is right next to the entrance to Camelot.

The Apartelle Royale has the nicest rooms I saw in Angeles City, and the $32 deluxe room is an incomparable value. The room is simply huge, and has a fully stocked kitchen. However, as Merlin says, there are even FEWER of THESE rooms, so it will be hard to get one. There was ZERO noise in my room there, but if you think the stairs are a bitch on the second floor, try the third sometime! Merlin hit on the negatives (pool, phone, lobby, etc.), but dude, re: the Camelot door girls, treat each barfine you bring up as a badge of HONOR and just give her a wink and a smile and go about your business. Unless you have a honey ko inside there or maybe Brown Sugar they can't do anything to hurt you.

Re: being a 3-5 minute walk from the center of the action, that's about right, as most of the bars are clustered near Kokomoz. But the hotel is right on Fields (though all the way down, Camelot is the last major girlie bar) and a block or so from Margarita Station. There is plenty of action right at the bottom of the stairs at Camelot and Brown Sugar.

And Blazers is USUALLY 'right on'. If he says something, I'd pay attention.

Merlin, thanks for the report, and please DO share some photos with us!

Ditto, concerning Blazer being right. I actually stayed at the standard room for $23.00, which is still a great deal. Based on Porker's picture above, it seems about the same size.

Porker, I defintely will post photos, least I can do after the awesome reporting you. After your reports, we're gonna see a swarm of Hombres to AC.

You are right Merlin, we will see a lot of Hombres in AC due to Porker's reports. Check out the special deal to Manila by Cathay Pacific, $499 round trip. Can't beat that. Here is the link:

Don't barfine a babe from Bahama Mama's when you first check-in there. The bar is right next door, the back bar of Bahama Mama was formerly the Byrd Cage.
Every night as I came in with a fresh barfine, she would frown. Not really a big problem, just another thing in AC.

From Asia: Philippines: Angeles City: Porker's Guide to Angeles City Hotels

APARTELLE ROYAL (on top of Camelot bar): The Apartelle Royal (AR) offers very attractive rooms at a bargain price, but as the place views itself as more of an apartment style establishment, usual hotel amenities are lacking. The deluxe rooms ($32) are VERY large and well appointed, while the standard rooms ($23) are an excellent value for the money. The AR offers a jacuzzi room as well ($40), but I've never checked it out and can't comment.

As I've only stayed in the deluxe rooms, I will limit my comments to them, other than to mention that for the price, the physical standard ROOM ITSELF is larger and newer and better appointed than any room in its price range. The deluxe rooms, however, are far superior to the deluxe rooms at the Orchid Inn and Central Park, actual suites with kitchen and a separate sitting and dining area. By comparison, the deluxe rooms are simply HUGE. Air con is brand new, quiet, powerful and can be left on all day. There is no pool or restaurant/lounge like all other hotels offer, and no atmosphere whatsoever to speak of. Your room is an island.

Strengths: BIG, NEW rooms. Air-con that WORKS and can be left on when you leave (though the maids turn it off after they leave). Deluxe rooms have kitchens and larger fridge than normal. In room safe. Location close to Margarita Station, Fields bars. Good maid service. Value for the money. Rooms with actual windows and natural light and an actual view of Angeles (lol, though some might say that's a negative!).

Weaknesses: You get NOTHING but a room, no pool, restaurant, room phone, etc. Must climb at least two flights of STEEP steps to get to the standard rooms, and a whole LOTTA steps to get to the deluxe rooms on the top floor - NOT fun on the average hot, sticky day in AC, and a no go for the morbidly obese punter who has been known to occasionally visit AC. Must walk a gauntlet of Camelot doorgirls to enter the hotel, and they can be extremely catty.

Snafus: Despite a security guard at the door, had a previous barfine pounding on my door while I was going at it with another girl. How's THAT happen? (Note: This was last summer before a front desk was put in on the 2nd floor). Blew out an electrical outlet, though that may have been due to my cheapass-Chinese cellphone charger. Air-con leaked on the bed, forcing bed to be moved.

Grades for Apartelle Royal: Room quality: A+ Overall, including amenities: A- Value: A

Recommendation: The deluxe rooms are GREAT rooms, and if you can live without a pool and restaurant and the fact that there is minimal staff to attend to your needs, especially at night, you should be quite happy with accomodations at the Apartelle Royal and the value you get for your money.

According to the hotel website, rooms now cost $29, $39 and $49 and the bigger/more expensive rooms have wireless internet.

By Porker on Tuesday, August 08, 2006 - 05:46 am:  Edit

I couldn't get a $39 executive room this time on short notice, so I got 'stuck' with a $29 standard room. Easily the biggest room in AC that I've seen for the ~$30 price tag, and it was a welcome change after I had a brain fart and stayed in my first ever room in Angeles from 3+ years back, a standard room at the Orchid Inn, which was pretty much crappy across the board.

In addition to the huge room (including the C.R./shower) room safe and fast ethernet connection, there was an AWESOME mirror on the wall that ran the length of the bed. Of course I had to look away when my fat pasty ass was on top doing the pounding!

Apartelle Royal still has the same negatives: No restaurant, no room phone, limited staffing after 10 PM, those STEEP steps. There was slight noise vibrating up from Brown Sugar into the wee hours, but I slept with the fan on and didn't notice. If it's a nice ROOM you want, Apartelle Royal is still a great option.

By Porker on Thursday, August 16, 2007 - 12:21 am:  Edit

They are now charging in pesos, and the rates in dollars have accordingly risen steeply. p1600 for a standard room is not the WORST value for a room in AC, but p2250 for a deluxe room is more than FIFTY USD, and that's fucking outrageous. I got suckered into paying it for two nights when I didn't bother to confirm the rate before I got there.

The rooster noise and noise from Sky Traxx is worse than ever.

By Porker on Friday, January 30, 2015 - 07:09 pm:  Edit

Decent internet, still an affordable option if you want to be at ground zero and you don't mind not having a pool.
