I travel to Thailand 3-4 times a year, stopping off in BKK for a few days at each end of the trip to shop for essentials such as fake clothes and little blue 'fathers little helpers'. I then travel to Hua hin, about three hours south, for me this is the perfect mix of beach and nightlife. Just off the main strip going past the Hilton and Hua Hin brewing co are numerous small streets, the smaller and less well lit they are the seadier the bars and the cheeper the girls. More money does not necesserily get you a more beautiful girl, just a more experienced and better English. I would reccomend a mid price joint as lots of fun can be had teaching each other our respective languages. The best thing about Hua hin is that if you find a real gem you can negotiate a price for the whole of your stay, if thats your thing. In April I met a girl, Nee who worked in a bar but became my G/F or'darling' and wouldn't take any more money..unbelievable, but true. I used to meet her after work and we would be together until her shift started at 7pm the next night.

You might be interested in how we met? It was last April, my favourate time of year, nice and hot, not too many Felang, and the Songkran festival, which is the most fun you can have with your clothes still on. I had rented a truck with a barrel of water, about 15 Katoeys and a crate or two of beer, about 400B. We had stopped for a brake at a friends bar, 'Fathong Bar', when I spied two georgeous little girls who were still dry. Well that was too much a temptation for me and my 'maxi-soaker' braught from UK for £40 and too big for my case. After giving her a good soaking we somehow ended up in a clinch under a warm hosepipe, eyes met, couldn't put each other down etc. She told me she worked in a bar, I didn't mind but she charged me 1,000B for the first day, which was ok. But after a few days I could see that this was eating into my budget. I told her I wanted her to be my G/f and not just busines and she agreed as long as I allowed her to work in the bar and go with customers if she needed to. Well, in the two weeks I was there I met her every night at 12mn and it never cost a thing, apart from the usual necklace as a good bye gift.

One of the cleanest places in Thailand because it is where the Royal family vacations...

I liked Hua Hin better than Pattaya for the beaches, jungle and food prices. We did some really neat touring and relaxing. (Try Lex Lex restaruant near the train tracks for great food at incredible prices!) No go-gos, but lots of girls hanging out in the bars. I had my sweetheart with me, so of course I wasn't able to size up the situation too much. But it seemed to be there for the asking.

I spent a week at Hua Hin in late July. Had a great time. I brought a sweetheart from Bangkok with me so I can't tell you too much about the bar scene. Hua Hin is about a 3 hour bus trip from the southern bus terminal in Bangkok. I think it cost 130 baht each way. I do give Hua Hin a reccomendation as a reasonably priced destination to take a girl to. I think I would have been disappointed if I went there alone.

We took Bangkok Air. It was a 40 minute flight from BKK and cost about $60 roundtrip for 2. I think Hua Hin is ideal if you take a girl with you. However, I think their is a lot of possibilities for freelancers, also. But, it is certainly not anything like Pattaya. The beach is great as you can see from Jrsx's picture above. At night, it is deserted. My sweetie and I had some great fun on the beach about 11 PM. I loved Hua Hin. For your first time I would bring a girl. But, while you are their you might keep an eye out to case the scene towards coming back solo.

I visited The town Hua Hin over the xmas period recently and found the best place to find girls.
After finding the 3 strips of girl bars and not seeing anything remotely attractive I headed for the Hilton Hotel bar/disco. This is where the good looking girls are and all up for sale.

There is no bar fines or ladies drinks and the girls are on their best behaviour due to the venue being a 5* hotel.

However...The girls quite frown upon the Butterfly thing and prefer to stay with you for the duration,but it is very cheap,I was offered 3 day action inc. backdoor for around 2500 baht,and she was tall and attractive,i declined and had her for 1 night 500 baht and decided on a new kill the next night.

to sum it up,its good for around 3 days and its only 2 hour drive from bk

very nice-- on my to-do list.

Wouldn't get TOO excited about this location yet...

I found the tuktuk and taxi drivers asking for inSANE amounts of money. The "mall" is nothing more then a 3 story building with small stalls that would be hard to mistake for stores. Found the street food to be world class fair to poor. Hotels are decent priced and had good long term rates, but do you really want to stay for weeks on end in a town that doesn't even have a movie theatre?

Hua Hin is a great place to get away and relax. Would not go there intending to monger.

I've been thinking on making the trip down here for a while. KM is correct-- the girls do look pretty hideous, but I'm thinking it may be a great place to bring a couple keepers and recharge.

Ep-- When did you go there? Was good foot massages readily available?

Very relaxing in Hua Hin, I've also visited Cha-Am too and that's soooooo quiet it's unbelievable. Lots of coffin dodgers (old folks) in these places! Definately a case of bring your own babe and BTW you will make all the one foot in the grave crew very envious.

Hua Hin does have foot massage - not carpetbombed like in BKK or Pattaya, but it's available.

As far as entertainment: bars are few and far between, hotels were reasonably priced, tuktuk drivers make the guys in BKK look like saints, not much to do at night (or even during the day for that matter).

Just to give you an idea how small this town is I walked past the "mall" THREE TIMES before I realized which unassuming building it was. The "shops" inside were nothing more then small stalls. Wanted to go see a movie one night but there's no movie theatre. Found internet cafe for 20B/hour and good Italian food.

Like I said soooooo quiet with little to do, but that's how the dear old folk want it! Slipper and pipe men from all over the globe potter around doing a lot of nothing. NB. If you want to get away from it all with a Thai honey why not try Koh Samui, or Phuket?

I'm looking to spend the days in a beach bungalow (private and quiet), getting foot rubs (my excuse for exploring local flesh), eating good food, and sitting on the beach reading and taking pics.

Plenty of tourists in HH, mostly on pkg trips from Euroland and staying in the big hotels on the beach. If you like overweight Brit women eat your heart out, as they´ll be with their husbands. Or maybe they were auditioning for a re-make of Moby Dick.
Lots of Thai tourists too.

Pay for play is one street, and being a butterfly is quite frowned upon by the local hos. Everybody knows everyone else´s business, including yours. Eg, one crone shouts out to me "I know you, you drink Sprite." I´m out late one night getting some food and some bitch as ugly as a water buffalo sits near me "where you stay?" "I stay Hua Hin!" She was persistent with this question, which was none of her fucking business. She saw me next day "I still want know where you stay!"
And there´s no shortage of Indians chasing you down "sooot! sooot!"

Horsie rides are popular on the beach, so lots of shit in the surf, mingles with tons of trash. I moved to a few km down the coast after a day, and even there ankle-deep in garbage. I never thought I would ever be able to compare the beach at Pattaya to anything as `more appealing.´
Stick to Pattaya if you want pussy. If you want nice beach keep looking.

Hey Bendejo, good report and quite funny too! There are a lot of beach resorts in Thailand including some great places that are not on the tourist maps. If you are 75 years old and on a severe Prozak dose you will find Hua Hin & Cha Am really GREAT! You are right about overweight British women too. However if obese American women get to like Hua Hin the beaches and facilities can't possibly take that punishment! America does the gross, obese thing like no other place on this planet LOL! My friend from the USA says, "Give up fighting with 200-300 pound pumpers for space in fast food places unless you are an NFL Guard."

DM & Epi, you guys are right of course it is a quiet but respectable place. I was just joking! Hua Hin means "far from worries" and it is traditionally a Royal resort. You will never see go-go bars because rightly the Thai Royal family wish to keep it a respectable beach resort. Definately a case of bring your own honey, but it is very relaxing. However, some people do find it TOO relaxing, but it depends on whether it suits your individual tastes.
