Is the "Zombie" bar mentioned in "Private Dancer" a real bar and where is it? If it is real, please provide your impressions of this place.

As far as I know "Private Dancer" is a work of fiction.Most of the writers that I've read on BKK like S.Leather C.Moore etc.base it on fact but the actual specifics are fiction.To answer your question no not real,but based on a place or places like it.

Stephen Leather the author of Private Dancer is a friend of mine. Private Dancer is based upon a real story. Big Ron is actually Big Dave from JOOLS BAR on Soi Nana. ZOMBIE BAR is actually VOODOO BAR in Nana Plaza. What is scary is that most of it was true. This book should be read by every visitor to Thailand. Now available in all good book shops in Thailand. Dave as you know I met our mutual friend Da in Voodoo bar. Although there were a few familiar scenes as I read the book , fortunately they were very few and far between.

I agree the book is a must read for any guy who wants a serious relationship with a Thai bargirl. The story is not really all that uncommon for the most part.

That certainly brings back memories of Miss Da and how good Voodoo was in those days. I think Private Dancer is definitely a great guide for newcomers to Thailand. It's both shocking and amusing that those hardcore conversations in Jools Bar did actually take place and that's scary! I disagree with you slightly because it seems no matter how many books or messages of warning go out, some guys do still lose everything to a Thai bargirl. This is my point about the importance and availability of websites like Club Hombre. Really BIG f*ck ups should not happen with the amount of information available on the internet today but they still happen all the time. I guess there's no accounting for when human emotions come into play. "Private Dancer" is a great read and the vast amount of guys that have read it reflect that.

Voodoo had some truly stunning girls back then . Mama Pboom Pbui definitely had a knack for attracting the beauties.
Before Voodoo she was at Carnival and it was the hottest bar in Nana (not to mention the smoking hot lesbian show). Never seen anything like that before or since in Thailand. Voodoo was a pit before Mama BB left Carnival and brought the beauties to Voodoo.

I also said it was not an uncommon story - at least many parts of it. The ultimate ending is fortunately rare. I think we are in full agreement here.

Yes, I agree and quite a few guys also agree that Carnival and Voodoo were damned hot in their day. Sadly those days are gone!

BTW - KED has been working again but all too sporadically. Nana Plaza has dropped off, so thre's only the few very popular bars are doing a roaring trade. Soi Cowboy is worth a visit but you cannot go late because no hot babes are left.
