Anyone have any comments on the Centre Point managed apartments with highspeed internet? How close is this to the action? How are the accomodations that look great on their website? (http://www.centrepoint.com) What is their policy on guests? Should be liberal as it is an apartment, sort-of. (And all the other general hotel questions...) Thx. -Rasta

The one on Sukhumvit might be OK... nice enough niegborhood. Just a few blocks from Soi Cowboy. But, if I remember correctly gettin across Sukhumvit is bitch down at that end of town. 4 lanes each way that the Thai drivers make into 6, concrete center divider makes it so that you can't cross the street on foot sometimes for 5 or 6 blocks at a time. You would be looking at alot of cab rides.

Concider Majestic Suites. 95 seconds away from NEP, friendly, guest policy great, clean, small but nicely appointed digs (lots of solid teak) I noticed an internet connection when I stayed there but have no idea as to the speed of the connection ... why don't you e-mail them and ask?

There is a very fine map of Sukhumvit with the places we would be interested in pin pointed on the links page under maps.

I stayed the last 2 times I was in Bangkok at the Centrepoint on Soi 10. Mcdjjj is right, it is a pain in the ass getting to the place if the taxi driver goes down sukhumvit from Nana, best to ask him to come in from I think Soi 10 0r 12 the exit of the highway...much better. Or get off at 7-11 and cross the bridge at the beginning on the Soi you can wait for a few minutes and the hotel tuk tuk will pick you up and take you to the hotel.

Nice hotel, excellent service, checkout at 5pm the following day both times I have been there, free breakfast, they will call your room and you can view your guests in the lobby via CCTV and decide if you are busy or not.

Good location, across from whats left of Clinton Plaza, and near what appeared to be a new beer bar looking area on Soi 10...I don't know anything about it as it wasn't done in Feburary...

I've stayed at Centerpoint. Had a beautiful two bedroom apartment on a high floor. All very nice, but it was a bit of a pain to get to and from. Although the staff and guest policy was great, you often had to wait a while for the Tuk-Tuk. I probably wouldn't stay there again just because it is so far off Sukumvit. More recently I've stayed at the Grand President and it's totally acceptable.
Does anyone know if the Magestic has larger rooms? I'd like to stay there but I prefer a lot of space.
