Gulliver's - Soi 5
This is a just recently opened Bar / Restaurant. Sort of divided into 3 sections. Dining area to the left , large bar and 3 pool tables on the right , then covering the whole back area is another small bar , more pool tables , dart board , some video games , and even a fooze ball game. Food here is western/thai oriented. Mostly farang / ex-pats here and some freelancers around the bar area's. Maybe can compare the interior to the likes of a Hard Rock type bar. What one can not but help notice is a car mounted on a service garage hoist above the main bar.

Gulliver's on Soi 5 is a branch of the Khao San road eatery of the same name. It's a slick, new, very large bar with a simple menu and loads of pool tables. Most importantly, however, it's become a stopping point for Bangkok freelancers. The freelancers tend to migrate in the Nana area between the Soi 7 beergarden (early), Nana disco (late), Grace coffee shop (late), Thermae, and the Nana hotel parking lot (2-3 am). Gulliver's is now a new stop on that migratory path, and you can find freelancers there starting in midafternoon until late. The advantage Gulliver's has over the other freelancer venues mentioned is that it's newer, nicer, well-airconned, and even has a free internet kiosk so you can check your email while oogling girls.

We do not need a travelogue about where the freelancers go. We are well aware of the flight patterns of the species pooying freelancious.

KM, lighten up. Maybe YOU don't need that info, but others might find it interesting. I'm always interested in hearing of possible places to find girls after other places are closed. What time does THIS place close, and what kind of selection do they have after 2 AM (assuming they're open, of course).

CloudHopper...Thanks for the update. I used to live not to far from Khao San road for several months and used to get the occasional hamburger and play pool at Gullivers. I will have to check this place out next time I get to the Nana area. Is it the same setup as the one on Khao San road?

That's my point -- no useful info here. Just want him to share some personal experiences not copyrighted material. See Badabing's post from over a year ago and you know more about Gullivers than is here. It definitely does not stay open after 2 AM. Even Grace coffee shop has problems staying open after 2AM now.

The only places open generally cater to Thai crowds--smaller and hidden, still illegal but plenty of people to look out for cops and word of mouth to pull in customers on the quiet. A farang place would have to advertise too loudly to get enough customers and would grab the attention of cops so impossible unless MAJOR payoffs to the police are made.

After 2AM the major scene for farang is the whole area around NEP. You can sit at a food vendor and be approached by numerous poo ying, or just walk around Sukhumvit or the Nana Hotel area and see hundreds of available girls-- many even have pussies not dicks, so choose correctly grasshopper.

BTW, Gullivers has an almost decent foosball table, which is kind of rare in LOS. Some of the girls are OK players.

Gulliver's took just over a year to get really established. It gets packed solid for big sports events, especially during the big soccer games. You struggle to get a seat near the bar for the huge sports crowds, but there is of course that back room with tables. Even outside it is very busy (late afternnon/early evening) on the patio, because I think the meals are reasonably good for the price. The food isn't fantastic but there is a fairly good selection of Thai and western dishes, and the service is quite good by BKK standards.

The crowds ebb and flow at meal times and it's usually busiest late afternoon through to early evening. There are some attractive freelancers still hanging out here; some are even former BG's and go-go dancers. A classy place where the staff are more alert and educated. Some good English speaking staff here. NB. Recently a new menu meant a slight increase in food prices but drinks are still very reasonable.

Found this place to be a GREAT freelancer hangout. Many quality girls "sharking" the bar and tables outside. Hell, I've actually been approached there when I've already HAD a girl with me. Talk about trying to work the angles...

Many girls will come in after the dayshift at whatever bar they work and "play pool" with their friends. Lots of these girls wouldn't mind a few extra baht in their pocket either.

I've spent MANY days... and nights in this bar/restaurant. While I feel their food is overpriced and not very good I don't really go there for the food. I go to Gulliver's for the same reason I go to AC - PUSSY.

Stickman agrees with you that the food is only average, but for me it's OK sometimes. Like anywhere it depends on what you order, and as you ONLY order "pussy to go" you're fine!

They work in pairs it seems at this establishment! I have taken friends here to play pool and watch sports but everytime get side tracked with the pooyings. I have yet to take a single girl! ALways took the girl and her friend and never did a LT. Price I start with is 2,000 for two and settle for 2,500 after not much haggling! Best time to go is when it is too fucking hot out and the pooyings come here instead of the beergarten on soi 7. Just gravitate to any girl that tickles your fancy, say hello and let them work their magic! All you really need is money and manners!

I hit Gulliver's once this past trip about 3 PM and they had three chicks sitting at one table eating together. There were probably an equal amount of customers in the bar. I take it 3 PM's too early to go there.

Your buddy Epi seems to love this place and it is a fine establishment. You would have to travel far to see a bar as attractively furbished as this in the UK. BTW my friend got a really sexy French kiss of Tiger beer girl number one. Number two is not as sexy but you can't have everything. FYI - You just hit the bargirl programme of events at the wrong time, 3pm is too early for Gulliver's.
