Just arrived in Pattaya from Bangkok via Nana Limousine Service. Checked into room at Flipper Lodge on Soi 8 between Beach and Second.

Nice, clean room with ocean view. Fridge is fully stocked and complimentary condom in drawer.

Only complaint is no room safe and no drawers next to bed, just two small tables. Table on left side has built in music channel, volume control only, for those that don't bring music.

Hotel has restaurant, hair salon, and internet service in-house.

According to driver, Flipper House on Soi 7 is newer and nicer alternative under same ownership. He originally brought me there, but they were completely booked.

OK, another complaint. Could only find two single plug outlets in entire room. One for TV and one in bathroom that is only operational if the switch is up. You can't plug anything else in unless you unplug the TV or leave the bathroom light on.

Both are connected to auto-shut off electrical system which means you can't charge your batteries while you're out of the room. (Only hotel I've used in Thailand that doesn't have auto-shut off is Nana, but I'm sure there are others)

I guess I could buy a multi-plug converter.

I'm in the same situation. Plan on charging overnight.

Care to have a drink and get oriented? I'll be around today and tomorrow.

Got message too late, have plans with thai lady tonight and leaving Pattaya tomorrow.

Also, the bathroom outlet isn't too good for charging, one of my charges doesn't seem to like it for some reason, maybe not enough power. The other charger also only fits in one way and it's tough to get it to stay in the outlet without switching the switch off.

Still, overall I've had a fine time in Flipper Lodge.

Located about 100 yard away from the beach and just out the front door are countless beer bars. Central location, and never more than a 10 baht ride to anywhere in Pattaya. Swimming pool is located on top of this 5 story hotel, with a small bar and a good ocean view. They are staffed with a security guard that collects your Thai girls I.D. card. Before they return it the security guard will call you to make sure everything is O.K. There is a restaurant on the first floor with the option of eating on the patio along Soi 8. The food is fair, but I prefer the numerous nearby restaurant that are available. It can be noisy at night (until 2:00 A.M.), but a room on the 4th or 5th floor helps. If you get a "sea view room", make sure it is on the 4th or 5th floor, or you'll have a "back of another building view". The rooms are nothing fancy, but comfortable and inexpensive. Sea view rooms have a king size bed and a refridgerator. "Tops" grocery store is a short walk away, and has anything a regular grocery store would have.
Prices vary depending on Season. Christmas and Newyears require early reservations, deposit and elevated prices.
Typical prices:
Sea View Room - 750 to 800 baht (advertised higher, but they will bargain with you if you're staying for awhile)
Meals - 100 to 200 baht

Pros: Inexpensive, Central location, Excellent staff, Safe deposit box, Security, clean rooms, in room refridgerator, bar girl friendly.
Cons: Can be noisy at times, sea view isn't that great (often obstructed)

Hey, was there a 26 year old girl name "Nong" in that picture? Perhaps the one in the middle, with the big smile?

Only reason I ask is because I BF'd a girl from Polo A-gogo (her name was Noy), and we went to visit her sister Nong on Soi 8, near the Beach Road end. Kinda looks like the girl in the picture.
