I just received an email from Cathy Pacific. RT to Bangkok from SFO or LAX starting at $529.00

This is standard price. $518 plus tax is available from several airlines. If $529 includes tax its a good deal.

just for knowledge you need to sign up as one of their cyber travlers to get these specials emailed to you. Right now they have HK and Bangkok from JFK, LAX, or San Fran for $599. or$699. US I think. The best is the $999 all asia pass that they have from the US (up to 16 cities for one fee).

This is the third time this deal has been posted to the board. (the other two were to the threaded board)

The BIG catch with the 'special' Cathay deal is that you do NOT get Frequent Flyer miles on the travel. IMHO this is a HUGE negative. In fact, for me it's a deal breaker. (but, each guy has his own priorities)

You're right SE, especially when you can find fares on EVA as low as $500 from LAX to BKK WITH frequent flyer miles, and even if that fare isn't available, $610 usually is. I even saw Economy Deluxe for $744 out the door with all taxes and fees. Now THAT is hard to beat.

CX used to have 999USD INternet special to HKG, and then 18 SEA cities for free within the next 30 days. It was excellent for puntering/mongering in the South East Asian countries.

Can't find any specials right now to BKK or MAN... unbelievable that the low tourist season would bring higher ticket prices.

did you check the $900 to 16 cities special? Malasia Air is doing the same, I think it was $700 pretax. Check with angeltravel.com

Cathy Pacific is $999 plus taxes. Lots of taxes. You also get charged an airport fee every time you go through the "center" city which is Hong Kong. No FF miles either. Still a good sounding deal with the Malasia Air even a better one. You could go for a month and flip between BKK and MNL every week.
