Mongerx & Don Marco, thank you for taking the time to educate me about Indonesia. I am enlightened! Sounds like a place I would visit given the opportunity. This could well be an emerging destination as DM was very impressed. Despite our disputes on the board (LOL), I really respect DM's mongering opinions. I hit DM with a load of Indo questions on Yahoo messenger the other day, out of general interest. Sorry if I came across too "journalistic" and once again thanks for the report.
"She has become a fatal attraction and is no longer contempt with being a part time lover. She knows my every move and wants to argue with me constantly!"
Nice Freudian slip, Priew!
Dave, well said. I ain't here to slam anywhere (espcially LoS), as I have a blast ANYWHERE in SEA. I may nit pick one vs. the other, but I am sold on enjoying each place for their individual character and nuances. I would never forego my annual retreat to LoS for anywhere, but when one spends 4 or so months a year in SEA, hopping around and divying up trips is a blast.
No place is perfect, one must learn to roll with the punches, adapt, and conquer.
"I came, I saw, I mongered!"
Attributed to Don Marco in Asia (LOL!)
2010 crackdowns:
1. Champagne a GoGo was raided in Nov 2010 by Immigration police and others. See my posting of the news article in the thread for that club. The raid might have been a reaction to the US law on anti-trafficking and ranking Thailand on as borderline trafficking country.
2. A Pattaya cable channel reported on a city council meeting. One bit was that the law said 2am is the legal closing time for bars and clubs, but the city government is lenient on this because Pattaya is a tourist town. Another bit was that there were many complaints from residents about the noise coming from bars and clubs on Third Road and the city government would look into this.
Opinion: an apparent difference between immigration police and city government.
