One of the best Thai restaurants in Bangkok. The decor is not as fancy or traditional as other Thai restaurants but the food is excellent. It's on Soi 12 off of Sukhumvit. There are several different parts of the restaurant , including a dining area and an outdoor patio.

There is an open air beer garden as you enter and the selection of drafts is solid. I ordered the Seafood Curry and spring rolls. Their honey roasted rotisserie chicken is excellent. The mango with sweet coconut milk and sticky rice is refehsing for desert. I aslso suggest the steamed prawns in whole coconut. The prices average about 200 baht ($4.40) and the service is excellent. Your chekc is presented with a condom.

This restaurant was started by a man who started the PDA (population and community development association). It's a non-profit group which specifically helps the rural poor obtain medical treatment and education for the prevention of AIDS. PDA was one of the chief groups that began awareness about AIDS and prevention to Thailand. The highest rate of AIDS is in the rural North where uneducated Thai men think that it is cool to screw young girls without condoms and infect them with AIDS. The myth that the white man brought AIDS to Thailand is a joke. The highest incidents of AIDS are in areas where no falang's exist. It is the Thai Men's carelessness that has created this epidemic. If you know of a girl whom has a Thai boyfriend and is from the rural North, do not even consider unprotected intercourse. The risk is high at all times but even higher if she has had sex with at least one Thai man. All right, that's my only political speech for this trip...sorry. BBBJ's are another story. I can't give that one pleasure up just yet.

Blazers,

Yes, everything you say about the food at this place is true. Although I didn't like their mixed drinks. Stick to Mitweider beer made by Singha but much better than their regular brew.

I've been to this place many times. I had the opportunity to spend time with Meechai Viravidya who is the owner and also prominent Thai
politition.

His sister actually lives here in San Diego...

Still going strong and it has retained its high standards. You still get handed a free condom when you pay your bill. Well worth a visit I can update that it remains one of the very best resturants in the whole of BKK. Has become something of an institution here in LOS.

The man that started these restaurants in Thailand is senator Meechai Viravyda. His sister used to live here in Pacific beach and was a patient of mine.

Almost retired to BKK with my wife last year and was
arranging to work with his project treating Aids patients.

The move is on hold for now. Good food and great organization...

Hi Innocent,

Khun Meechai is an exceptionally compassionate Thai gentleman who was very brave in pointing out safe sex and AIDS awareness in Thailand. After receiving some serious threats (local bar operators) he was not so direct with the bars, but his work is absolutely essential and much appreciated. It would be fantastic if you and your wife could join his team because carers and specialists are very much needed here. The rewards of living in LOS would hopefully pay for your kindness and expertise.
