I see that no one seems to have anything to say about this area, so I'll try to get things started.

After four visits to Bangkok I would say that this is probably my favorite area. Although the street is lined with bars only a few stand out as worthwhile, but these few can be excellent.

Long Gun is still number one and by 9pm it's always difficult to find a seat. Like all of the bars on Soi Cowboy the turnover on dancers is pretty high. You'll find a few mainstays, but many of the girls seem to move on after a couple of months.

Rawhide is just two bars over from LG and is run by the same people. This place hasn't "arrived" yet and never seems to fill up like LG, but the ladies are sometimes superior. Stop in and give it a little time. You might be suprised.

Midnight Bar made a big turn around this summer when a foreigner came in to manage the place and set it right. He cleaned it up, got some cuties in there, and set up a short-time room upstairs. I've heard that he was recently let go, but the new manager is maintaining the same level of quality. I've had fun in here and I've been happy with the ladies I've taken out here.

Tilac Bar has a good layout and atmosphere. The lighting around the stages is good and you can clearly see the girls. The lighting over the seats off to the side are suitably muted for a little more privacy. This bar has a lot of potential, but seems to be held back by a less than thrilling assortment of ladies. If they could recruit some lookers the bar could grab the top spot on the street.

All of the other places I dropped by to check out didn't impress me. If someone has a good lead on another bar please post it.

Decent size with nice lineup of ladies. Noticed one very obvious and disgusting ladyboy with huge adams apple. Don't think there were any other ladyboys, maybe one.

Tiny. One 10 out of few ladies isn't really a lady. If I was willing to do post-op, this would be the one. This ladyboy usually stands outside. DBU.

Some nice ladies outside ignored me after I came in. Small place.

Only guy in place and two cute dancers almost completely ignored me. Small place.

Excellent show with some of the most attractive ladies. Nice atmosphere and good music. Unfortunately the most popular bar on Soi Cowboy and crowded early until closed. Smelled funny one night I went in. Still best lineup.

Shadow Bar - Thumb Down
Poor lineup. DBU.

Rawhide - Thumb Up
Same ownership/management as Long Gun. Some dancers work both. Was never crowded when I visited. Place is more brightly lit and has different feel than Long Gun. Come here if you don't like crowd of Long Gun.

Baccara - Undecided
Some obvious and some not so obvious ladyboys here. Ladyboys in this bar more aggressive than elsewhere, got surrounded by two who sat next to me on both sides when I walked in. Shooed them away. Otherwise nice atmosphere. Look up and you can see up schoolgirl skirts through glass floor. Upstairs is small with little seating. Also a small room with glass walls, can't see in when lights out. No bed, but might be for other services, unsure.

Many people feel that Long Gun Bar is the better bar in Soi Cowboy, Bangkok. While Long Gun has many girls and is easily one of the more frequented bars in cowboy, having visited it for several nights I failed to see that is was that big of a deal. Dont get me wrong. I had fun but the girls were always clothed in bikinis and what was more notable is that a girl rarely looked the same standing in front of you as she had previously looked while dancing up on the stage. It is almost like, "same person?"

When I was recently there, Soi Cowboy, for whatever reason was very very slow. What made Long Gun enjoyable for me is that I sat on the stool near the door and next to the stool the door girl sat on. I got to know a lot of girls this way and got very friendly with the door girl. One dancer (with maybe the greatest hips I have ever seen) came by and talked for a little while and soon was french kissing me. This went on for 3 hours!
I like to play the role of the "poor farang" and with Pim this was OK. She offered to wait til after 2am and then meet me at my hotel for no charge.... True? Who knows but for the three hours of kissing I was looking for a sign of something amiss and could not find anything from this girl but sincerity. Though I declined the offer (I had plans for later that night), at that point maybe it just was not a case of being 'too good to be true.'

On the other hand, I had more fun at Tilac, Black and White and Doll House. But, by far the best shows were at Suzie Wongs. Acutally I did not have any plans of going into SW and just went in by chance. Good looking girls, no clothes and the best lesbian show i have recently seen (and four girls at one time).

Three other bars I also had unsolicited kissing with the girls. Two were barkers from outside (can I come inside with you?) and the third was not a dancer but a girl working inside the bar. Two of the three had their hands in my pants and all had their tongues in my mouth. Only one asked for a drink and not before she had very well earned it! In particular, one of the girls was at SW and during the lesbian show it was great having someone grabbing you while you are watching four girls go after each other for 20 minutes.

On the bad side, Baccara, sometimes noted as an exceptional bar, was just horrible.

An interesting note is that an acquaintance who is a barker at Shadow Bar one evening noted the police were there at 730 checking the paperwork on all the dancers and stated that no dancers in a go-go bar was allowed under the age of 20. True?

It's a week after Songkaran, the Thai Water Festival and it's bloody hot and humid. Walking from the serviced apartment on Soi 10 required a stop at Country Roads Pool Hall on the ground floor opposite the Sheraton Grand Sukumvit for a cold one at 90 Baht for a Heineken. There were 8-10 or so pleasent LBFMs playing pool and I was invited to by all to play with them but I declined. After finishing the Heiney, I made my way the extra 5 minutes to Soi Asoke which is a collection of 10 or 12 open air bars with an assortment of pool tables and about 50 bar girls and the night is young, not later then 9:00.

I've visited here a number of times before and it seems the bars change names every time, and the girls are all changed too, in fact a few had even changed from boy to girl and it took me half a beer in the last bar in the far corner from the street before I realized that the thin young lady perched on the bar stool beside me was a ladyboy. Oh well! it could have been worse, at least I hadn't bar fined her! By the way, Heineken was also 90 Baht here and there is No air conditioning. The bar fine to take any of these gals out is...I forgot to ask. I'll go back and check tonight. Anyway, I had a few there then walked over to Soi Cowboy which was hopping! It's said that after Songkaran, a new wave of fresh bar girls is mobilized from up-country to Bangkok and it was apparent last night. I was here a month ago and in a few bars on Cowboy and there seemed to be a complete shift change. In Toy Bar I was of course offered an obligatory blow job on the spot, price would be 3 or 4 shots of tequila (to the girl) and 500 baht. Handjob would be 2 or 3 shots of tequila and 200-300 baht for each of the 2 or 3 girls participating. A few years back when I first went into Toy Bar, I noticed a guy standing in the very dimly lit back of the bar facing away from the bar. After a few minutes I asked one of the girls that was stroking my willy through my pants, "Why's he standing there" She said "every night him come here, he cum then he go". He was getting his nightly hand job apparently. Guess you get into a routine and it becomes habit.

In the end I stopped at Mr. Singh's massage place on Soi 10 (soon to move to Soi 8) on the way back and bar fined one of his new masseus's for 500 Baht and took her back to the room.

Summary:
Beer: 90 baht/ea seems to be the norm
Lady Tequila Shots: 120 baht/ea.

Public Blow Job: 500 baht
Public Hand Job: 200-300 baht per girl but could be cheaper if you negotiate.
Bar fine: 500 baht for a massage girl
All nighter all incluive: 1,500 baht (I even got a massage twice)

The open air beer bars around Asoke are all gone. Surprised they stayed around this long being such a busy traffic area. Seems the government is cleaning up all the eye sores.

When you leave Cowboy. Hopefully happy and with a girl or two in tow. Avoid the Taxi drivers at the end of Cowboy. I always say 'meter' and they quote all kinds of prices. For example Nana which is about a 35 baht ride late night without traffic is quoted at 100 baht. I usually hail a cab or go with any cabbie who agrees to use the meter.

Well spotted Walkingdude, these type of "taxing" drivers are a menace outside Soi Cowboy.

Pleased the Asoke bars went because BG's were harassing prople who were clearly passing by or heading for the sky train. Bars should only be allowed in sensible locations. Rather than knock them down, the authorities should use planning permission regulations to prevent this, but TIT as you know.

SOI COWBOY has been popular in the past with lets say guys on a tight budget. Currently it still has that image and the standard of BG's in general leaves a lot to be desired. Unfortunately like Patpong Soi Cowboy is only a mere shadow of the great place it used to be.

Soi CB had perhaps two girls I woulda liked to screw in ALL the bars one night last week. Not ready to call it dead, but looking for the hammer to put a nail in it.

Patpong is better off being plowed over and turned into one mega disco. Actually, if it was turned into a parking lot, it wouldnt be a major loss.

DM, my thoughts exactly! Both Patpong and Soi Cowboy have far too little to offer a monger. Just naive tourists and "cheap charlies" seem happy in these places. It comes as no surprise why mongers flock to Pattaya.

i think there has been a changing of the guard of sorts with respect to soi cowboy versus nana. or perhaps an equaling out. the talent levels seems better at soi cowboy to me. in any case, i've been in a bunch of the places. the best rule to follow is stick with the bars on the left hand side as you enter from asok. these would include tilac, dollhouse, midnite, shark, and baccara (i walked in and out of deja vu, not so good).

no need to visit long gun, our place, suzie wong, moonshine, cowboy 2, etc... you might get lower pricing on that side of the street but i don't think you'll see many ladies with a rank of 7 or above.

Cowboy is looking good these days. I saw more neon lights and people walking down Cowboy then years past.
