So the town ain't Singapore, but are all the Viet girls gone and only the ugly girls left or what?
By Mcdijj on Thursday, April 18, 2002 - 10:23 pm: Edit |
Lots of girls and a good number of them are down right beautiful. Took home a girl from Martini last night that was an honest 9. $20 for 3 hours ... the three hours was my choice. I liked Martini, if I had gone to Martini first night instead of Sharkey I might not have cut my stay a day short.
My problem comes from the multitude of parasites between me and the girls. I hope I get my act togather enough to post a trip report on my 4 days in Cambodia. It would include the story of me wrestling on the floor of a brohel with mammason who has grabbed all my money out of my hand. (I won)
Next problem is the heat and the lack of infra structure here to help me deal with it. I'm a Seattle guy and yesterday it was 102. I'm only good for one boom boom a day t hese temperatures and that needs to be back t my sort of air conditoned room.
I don't want to come across as saying that PP sucks. I'm glad I visited here. My learning curve for getting the feel of this place has been fast. And, most of what you read about Cambodia is true. Another time in another season perhaps.

PNH is an acquired taste, unless, like some, you instinctively and innately enjoy an environment where the law is what you can afford, and chaos rules. It ain't no BKK. It's sure no Singapore.

To each his own. I would not be suprised to find myself back in Phomn Pehn one day. Like you say, there is something about the atmosphere of the town that appeals to the "Desperato" in all of us mongers. And, the women! Some stunning girls that are rather inexpensive. (strike the word "some" and replace with "many")
But, the girls are all that is cheap. I'm sitting in an airconditioned internet cafe drinking espresso in BBK at this moment. The computer I'm using is 3 times as fast at half the cost of the several that I used in PNH. The room I just checked into is twice as nice at half the cost as the one I left this morning. The taxi ride from airport to room in BBK is half that of PHN. Dinner will be half the cost tonight. In your report of costs that you posted above I saw no mention of the $12 Airpost tax to leave BBK nor the $20 visa fee to enter Cambodia or the $20 airport tax to leave the country by air. That adds up to alot of $$$$.
For most of we Hombre our mongering adventures are a hobby. We are not on a self impossed Hemingway style exile and must be content with "short time". I would venture to say that for a short trip (4-6 days) Phomn Phen is not any cheaper than Pattaya. Yeah, I saw alot of girls a $5 ... but none that I would stick my dick in with out a lot of alcohol first (which is also more expensive in PHN). Let's get honest and say that HOT chicks are going to set you back $10 to $25.
I'm glad I went to Cambodia because it was a fine adventure ... certainly one well worth adding to my collection. I would encourage any monger who finds with in himself an urge to explore this place to go. JUST DO IT !!!

Mcdijj:
Internet cafes on Sisowath are running at US$1 an hour (ca. R4000). I have 4 within a block of my apartment at that price. Only the one at FCCC ('cafeasia') is higher than that in the vicinity.
When I was in BKK last September it was B200 in the hotels, that's $4/hr. On the street, less of course, but it's hard to believe it's under B45 per hour. Been a while for me, though, months, and of course I believe you...you're there, I'm not! I'm leaving in ten days to recheck (among other more important things!)
I don't know what your taste in hotels is, but I never stay in places that are more than $15 a night. Equivalent hotels in BKK (Suriwong among them) have no fridge but cost roughly the same or more. Of course there aren't any swimming pools on the roof...
Arrival/Departure taxes: You're right, but I was breaking down daily costs, not total packages. I go for a month at a time to minimize the per-day cost of the visa and departure taxes. But ultimately I agree with you, I should have included them. Might as well throw in the taxi rides to and from Don Muang, and in to and out of Pochentong airport for that matter.
My figures are rough guidlines, of course there's no fixed price menu anywhere! But right outside my apartment ($sixty-five a month, BTW) I've got a market where French bread is US $0.13 a loaf and around the corner I get a French omelette with toast and blueberry waffles for $4.
But it's ultimately the girl prices that make PNH financially worthwhile. I get double-headers overnight for what's being asked for at NEP and elsewhere in BKK for one girl, and there are no bar fines. Over 30 days, that's rather a large savings, especially if you can restrain your impulse to do double-headers.
I agree that if you stay a week you're not doing your wallet a favor. But I live there 1/4 of the year, and I have a stable of reliably great girls at $15 a night or less who rattle my gate to please, please, please be let in. Can't talk about their ages of course. There are a lot of exotic girl options available in PNH that effectively no longer exist in Thailand. Part of the charm.
And I can hardly put a price on the ambience. I really like the wild, wild feel of PNH that is a total inversion of the world I live in in the west. BKK takes me half the way, but in PNH I can completely be who I am, do whatever I want, and play full-spectrum girl games to unbelievable extremes. Last trip I typically had three or four girls in my bedroom almost every night, at group discount rates. Doesn't happen In BKK that I've ever seen...max two. There are parties and then there are parties. I much prefer the ones in my room in PNH.
In order to have a really good time, you've got to be able to speak...I sometimes do 5 languages a day (French, English, Thai, Khmer, VN). The prices in my post, however, don't assume the casual visitor can do that.
As a parting note, my breakdown was heralded and praised by others in two separate forums, by guys who travel to both BKK and PNH a lot. As a guidleline, I still stand by it.
You can get it if you really want, as Jimmy Cliff has pointed out.

Just a quick note to say that the cybercafe at FCCC is due to close at the end of the month. Their POP3 mail system has been screwing up all year, but, it's the only place in town I know of that allowed you an unlimited-time email-only account at a nice low price. Web access was $3 an hour, though.
I have a friend in PNH who is scouring town for another email-only spot, if anybody knows of one, please do drop a line. He doesn't use the web much because even at $1 an hour, there are times when he can't afford even that. (Those are what we call the "rice with salt and pepper days'.) And you know how the hours just flit by in front of the screen.
Which reminds me...gotta go.

Koro, what did you pay for the group rates of ladies in PNH? Just curious.
By Koro on Thursday, June 13, 2002 - 01:57 am: Edit |
Bingo...
Been a long time since I read my own posts! (Just got back from a trip this week.)
In any case, my setups are very personal, don't know how easy they'd be for others to mimic. I speak Khmer and VN well enough to arrange things, and almost everything I did was outside the normal venues. If you use the latter, you may or may not get a discount (2 girls for for US$30 vs US$40), but the mamasans aren't qualified mathematicians, so you may see the price jump right back up to $20 for a third girl! I'm using $20 as an average overnight price, you might get by for less in low season or if you know the mamasan and are a frequent (and pleasant) customer, and/or a good bargainer.
Because I speak the local lingos, I was able to convey the idea to freelancers that payment was performance=based. I consider that to be fair. With multiple girls, it was $5 each for boom boom, oral and a good (note: good) massage, to a maximum of $15, plus a small tip (ca. $2). After a while I started experimenting with slightly lower prices, like $12 total, and the girls kept coming back, but I don't low=ball generally, so I held it at that.
Some girls would go home with full pay...the good performers...others might leave with $5, sweetened by a litle tip (US$1) if they'd provided only a single service. If all they did was fall asleep while others were busy working, they got moto fare. Their choice!
I was more curious about how low they'd go than in saving money directly so it was only toward the end that I started dropping payment. It also helped that because of severe crackdown problems (still on going, by the way), it was easier to go to Koro's House of Fun and Depravity than risk getting picked up in a raid.
I also paid a steady, who acted as a very good facilitator, a daily wage that varied with her behavior..she was bit unstable and moody at times, so I controlled this by fining her when she was bad. On a perfect day, she'd get $15, which included all the usual domestic things like market runs, cooking etc. $2 demerits for every bad action or unwarranted emotional outburst she'd made during the day. I also stipend her $200 a month while I'm away.
Complicated or what? That's what engineering degrees are for. In the normal venue scenes you'll see price variations according to looks and age of course. I've had to resort to generalizations a bit in this post.
As you might imagine, there were only a couple gaggles of girls who were part of this scheme, so the pricing rules were fairly easy to explain and, well, enforce.
Because of the way things are going in PNH, I'm relying more on this freelancer=at=home approach than anything else. My steady would sometimes call in girls from K11 for me, para variar.

With regards to getting a car/driver for your trip. I never get one for the day at the airport. For several reasons: First of all most of the cars that I have seen at the airport all have the word "taxi" painted on the car. When ever I was at K11 and seen some guy pull up in a car marked "taxi" I knew he was being taken. The taxi's at the airport are for the most part old and barely run. They quite often will overcharge and don't speak very good english. I usually do take one from the airport to my hotel as I don't generally pre-arrange. The going price when I was there last was $7.
Upon arriving at my hotel, my task is to find that driver. In and around the 'central market' there are numerous hotels, with usually 3-5 drivers wanting you take their services. I usually look around the Diamond hotel. I first talk to a few finding out which one speaks the best english. I then start negotiating. I tell them exactly where I want to go and what time I will need them in the morning and what time they won't be needed at night. I don't pay more than $20 -25. I generally use them from 11:30/12 to about 12 at night. 90% of that time they are bullshitting with other drivers or locals. When going to K11 I usually have them park in the dirt field on the left towards the end of the road when you enter. Don't have them try to negotiate for you as the price will be inflated. This happened to me the first time in Cambodia where the street girls used to hang out by the 'Lucky Star' hotel. Luckily it only cost me an extra $5, but I learned a lesson from it.

The taxi situation must have changed in the last five years then because before, good luck trying to flag down any taxi in the city (PP), and then they didn't have "taxi" written on their cars. The only people hanging outside my hotel were amputees who were surrounding me the second I walked outside, there were no multiple taxi drivers then awaiting a fare. Well, things change. Maybe in few years they will use meters too, just like Thailand didn't have them in the early 90's, now they are widely used.
By Ezgab on Thursday, July 04, 2002 - 06:15 am: Edit |
I think that the taxi situation has gotten better over the years. You still will not see very many taxi's in the downtown area, for what ever reason. They all hang out at the airport (cars with the word "taxi" on the side). The amputee's are still in force. I don't think you will see the taxi meters anytime soon.

I am really debating hard about PP. Having been there twice now Indy, what do you think? Should I go or blow it off? I know you thought long and hard about it before you finally went.
I will be a first timer. I want to start the morning at KM11 and see how many girls I can fuck in one day.
By Mcdijj on Thursday, July 18, 2002 - 09:29 am: Edit |
XENO;
PP certainly is a place to go on a fuck-a-thon. If you read my trip report you should be able to figure out just how many $5-$10 cuties you will need to know in order to compensate for the travel expenses incured in getting to PP from BKK ... best start taking your vitamins now. If you have not been you should go. It's all about adventure my friend.
I should finish my Cambodia Trip report. After I fired the ripoff driver I got a call from the one recommended by my friends and thinks began to look up. Mr. Ben Wee HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. E-mail is {benweekh@yahoo.com,benweekh@yahoo.com} Not only did he not seek to gain commisions, but he was my coach. It made all the difference in the world.

Like LOS to the monger newbie, I recommend PP/K11 as an extreme to the experienced monger with aspirations to find a better chica for less $. I haven't had time to put together my report yet, and it's likely to be awhile, but let me sum up PP/K11...
The Cambodian chicas (in my experience) are more energetic and more into knowing what YOU want to do, instead of talking about where they want to eat or how their water buffalo is dying. More fucking and smiling for the $.
Still the language barrier, though, which inhibits conversation for the most part, and the reason why I am going to Angeles City next month.
I hear they can speak passable English there, and my pig Spanish is MUCH easier to brush up on than my (despicable) Thai.
PP and K11 and my choices for the best pussy per $ on the planet. But I will not underplay the bummer of the language barrier. Angeles City, here I come.

Too bad you couldn't go this month. There's going to be a whole batch of us leaving for AC in 3 days!! I would have bought you a San Miguel and given you the grand tour.
The fact that the girls speak English is what sold me on AC. They will all sweet-talk you and treat you like a king. Just be sure to ask "the questions" and make sure she's not a "cherry girl"!!
Where are you staying?

The only problem with barhopping with Epimetheus is all the girls tend to gravitate towards him. During our last trip together I made him keep to the bars on the right and I stayed on the left (LoL)! Come on out and join us. It's going to be a blast. I'm stuck in Singapore right now, waiting for my final leg to Manila. It's killing me - I'm so close yet still so far away!

I am on the fence of rigging a side trip to AC during this trip to Bangkok, Pattaya and Cambodia. LOS is becoming addictive
. Any input from recent AC visitors?
Also, I am thinking about hiring the cabbie refereed to in an earlier post... anyone want to share a cab and see the sights? It's (almost) always more fun to see the wild west with someone else.
Yes, I will post a report on Cambodia... my goddamn digital camera's memory stick died en route home last trip, and this is my excuse to go back so soon. I promised photos, and I intend to deliver.

The following text is from an email reply to another hombre who asked me for some input on Cambodia and his impending trip there. I have removed references to him as I wish to respect his privacy.

Hey hombre,
You have the right idea on time for Cambodia... I love the women there but cannot stand the country. It resembles a bombed-out city that just never came back. The women there cannot be beat for the money in any part of the world, IMO, and so I continue to 'visit.'
I would love to visit Rio one day when I am wealthy. I am told by many that the girls there are tops.
Any foreign visit is safer in numbers and during daylight. My first advice is to not go out at night. Stay in your hotel. In Cambodia, shit happens more often than in Thailand. You will likely be paying double in Cambodia for your hotel than in Thailand, so stay there with the chica(s) and enjoy them. Stay away from the $40-$50 per night places, as they are not even one-star quality. You will need to spend $80 per night to get a 'Motel 6' type of clean-and-comfortable, which is my personal preference.
OK, down to business... always get ID from the chicas. Don't bother asking for ages. He-said, she-said will not get you out of trouble in the rare chance it should be waiting. Needless to say, child prostitution is a mainstay in Cambodia, so always card your chicas before making a deal and indulging. Remember that little voice of Uncle Sam that says he will screw you for life if you screw a minor outside the US and he finds out about it.
The good news: Chicas in Cambodia are among the most submissive and best bang-for-your-buck IN THE WORLD! They are no cheaper than Pattaya chicas, after other costs are considered, but I can tell you that these girls are the most accommodating of any I have ever mongered. If they say 'no' to something, break out the $5 bills and keep laying them down until they say yes. Money is King in the kingdom of Cambodia.
I once negotiated 30 girls in one day. I paid $100 for all of them. After picking them, I had them sent upstairs, one at a time, until I sent her down and the next one would come up. They would bring a snack (that I supplied) or a drink for us to share. I didn't have sex with all of them, but I did play with each one and had the most fun I wanted to have with them. Some were just too inexperienced (barely 18) to enjoy a man, and I don't enjoy if they're not into it. So, next! A few were awesome (age 21 or so) and they stayed the full two hours each. Full day!
You may be asking how I could stay in a little cracker box without air conditioning for 8 hours, eating, drinking, fucking, showering, playing, laughing and teasing. OK, so it doesn't sound so bad the way I said it, but that room is hot, and summer there is humid as well. I am trying to tell you that there is little beauty in Cambodia and that I would rather be in a not-so-pleasant room with angels coming in and out for my personal harem experience, than go sight-seeing or walking around a city where people piss in the street and bugs and adundant. If you want to see some beauty mixed in with some chicas, stay in Thailand. If you want your primary business to be indulging in the nectar of that land's pussy, then do Cambodia! But don't plan on staying long. Three full days is more than enough unless, as I said earlier, you plan on sight-seeing. I didn't.
The best part of Cambodia mongering is the open-mindedness of the chicas' boss, the pimp. Unlike Thailand and the mamasan, the Cambodians are desperate for US money and they will kiss your ass to a large extent, so long as they can keep their status in front of the girls. On K11 and like places, each 'house' has a pimp that you deal with. Never pay more than $5 for 2 hours. Repeat, never. One more time, never. Got it? To do so would be to raise the price for the rest of us. Also, the locals pay about half of that, so don't get sentimental and feel sorry for their economic condition. Be sorry for them on your flight back to the US.
I could go on about how the chicas there are different from Thailand, but I think seeing (etc.) for yourself will be the best teacher. Of course, one reason travelers come to clubhombre is to avoid the pitfalls of newbie errors in a strange land. And believe it, Cambodia is a far cry from Thailand's comparable modernism and cleanliness. I would simply point to the many well-done works on the CH site written on Cambodia, other than the above experiences that have helped me.
I am writing to you aboard the United 777 heading home. I have made some new friends this trip, and I expect to bear the harsh burden of returning soon. For now, keep up on new articles on Cambodia, get your shots, and watch the TripBuddies section for concurrent plans.
Final words... don't tip too big or too often (the chicas talk); Don't take any more money than you will need in one day; Don't expect to use ATMs in Cambodia (read: Get sufficient US $ exchanged at the airport); If you drink, stay in the bar or your hotel room; As always, trust the chica as far as you would an American hooker-think about it.
I look forward to seeing a few words from you on the site, upon your return and your recovery from the withdrawal symptoms of leaving all that hard, tight, young pussy halfway across the world.

Indy, are you done and out of there then? If so, what's the status report on KM11?
By Indyla on Monday, August 11, 2003 - 12:24 pm: Edit |
Mur,
K11 was dead when I left. The doors weren't just closed, they were locked, nobody answered knocks, and there weren't even farangs outside having beers.
There are other areas I visited quite briefly that are slowly picking up the slack. Stay tuned to other writers on these locales.
Sorry for the bad news.
Hey Indy, I was wondering whatever happened to you. Are we going to be blessed with any trip reports from you for Cambodia or Thailand?
By Indyla on Monday, August 11, 2003 - 07:32 pm: Edit |
I have no excuse for not turning in my reports. Well, maybe a critical injury in a car crash with a drunk witch... a divorce... a custody battle... attorneys... the bitch...
LOL
Yes, I have all the material from the aformentioned reports, and am putting something together. I told myself I would work on it heartily on my way home from LOS last month, but alas, I was a limp noodle from the workout of the previous weeks. Then work came back and, blah blah blah.
What I really want to do is post a concise but concentrated report with photos and video clips to accentuate my writing which is admittedly nowhere near the par of this board.
Quickly... what I have to say on Thailand has already been said, but I have made the PI my primary destination, with Thailand and Cambodia being side-trips. I have some video and pics from this last trip. Perhaps when I return from the PI later this month, I will sit down and finish it. I'm not like some of these writers, who need only a rough draft to sound elequent.
Thanks for the interest.

I am looking for info on the current Cambodian situation. I will be back in BKK for Thanksgiving and want to make a trip to Cambodia. Looks kind of dangerous.
I am in Phnom Penh now and although it doesn't look as safe as BKK (not many street lights) I have had no problem going anywhere at night or have not heard af anyone else having a problem. Reminds me a lot of Cuba. Came over to PNH after visa expired in Thailand.
Martinis, Sharkey's, Goo Chi's, Walkabout, Heart of Darkness, and many other little bars are all loaded with girls. Not sure about K11. Doesn't get busy until late. But for some reason I am not attracted to the girls here like I am in Thailand. They are friendly enough but a truly pretty one is hard to find.
I am staying in the walkabout and it is ok but pretty primitive. Things are cheaper over here but certainly not as developed as Thailand. US dollar is used everywhere. Girls will cost you between 15 to 30 dollars a night and there is no problem bringing girls to room.
A warning to all PNH Travelleres!
I´m just back a few days from PNH, and had a bad unlucky experience there...! Was in Martini and wanted to go home about 1 AM. Picked randomly a Motorbike-Taxi outside Martini (there are always plenty!). Did not know (or mention) that i picked a Vietnamese Driver... A few minutes later on the way to my Hotel, just on the Main-Road with nearly no other traffic around and the Moto driving quite fast, another Moto came along with two Guys on, shouting something to my driver which i of course could not understand, and a second later i found myself airbound and on the way to the Asphalt. Slipped several meters over the street because of the high Bike-speed. Next i remember i was in a Emergency-Room of some small Hospital nearby. They cleaned my wounds and did send me home, after i paid 20 Dollar which sure was a "rip-off"! They did not have any pills/Medicine, not to mention no Tetanus Injection. Told me i should pick up some medicin next morning when the drugstore would be open. I did this and was ripped of for another 19 dollar for some lowsy antibiotica and painkillers...
Anyway, it turned out that i had several big injuries on my hands, my ellbow, legs and so on. Later on i made a X-Ray in the Main Hospital and found out that my ellbow was broken twice.
By they way, dont even think about a Operation in PNH, even the Main Hospital is a real joke! Even the doctor there told me to go back to Thailand asap, this says it all...
Ok, to make a long story short, afterwards i did find out what happened at all: I did choose a Vietnamese Taxidriver outside the Martine, and two Khmer Drivers who hate the Viets, followed our bike waiting for the best moment to kick our bike, so my "accident" was in fact a kind of "Terror attack"!
So my warning to all of you, try NOT and never do pick a Vietnamese Moto Taxi Driver, as i heard this attacks happen frequently!
Pick a good english speaking driver, make sure he is a Cambodian, and let him wait for you if you go inside some bar or other place, they usually are happy to wait for you anyway!
Good luck to all PNH Visitors, and be careful !
Ralf from Pattaya
I will be in Cambodia over Thanksgiving holiday as well. This is my first trip. I only plan to be in Phnom Penh though for one day Nov 28. Anyone there want to meet up.

$20 for an emergency room visit and $19 for antibiotics and PAINKILLERS. And, a referral to get back to LOS.
Dude, that is a deal anywhere.
I hope you are recovering well and thanks for the low-down on the khmer-viet info.
Pattayaner,
Sorry to hear about that. I left martini's just the other night the same way and I guess I got a Cambodian driver. I have taken your advice and started asking where the driver is from. I am currently in Siam Reap and there is no shortage of girls here either. Places to take them are more limited though.
Take care!

Red, where are you staying in Siem Reep? My hotel was *very* guest friendly (I'll have to look it up if you need the info, but I suspect it's too late).
What are the going rates for girls there? Last year it was $25-40, but your motodop took about half of that (bastards)
Since returning from Cambodia, I have added Phnom Penh weather to my homepage, along with McAllen, Tx, Mexico City, and Buenos Aires. Today in PP, it is a balmy 100 degrees farenheit. Damn I wish I was at K11 enjoying a cold Angor. It may also be a good day to enjoy a 32-ounce Heineken at Cafe Orleans in Buenos Aires.
By Ezgab on Sunday, April 18, 2004 - 07:58 pm: Edit |
I think that K11 is a thing of the past. I was there just last week and in a three hour period 12 - 3, I counted a total of 6 People of non-Cambodian decsent. Some of the house have only 2-3 girls working in them. Even the entrance sign to the place has been ripped down (it used to say something about always use condoms). Some of the girls that I talked to told me as soon as they pay their debt they will be leaving with no fresh girls to fill the holes. It has definetly changed from 2 or 3 years ago when you could sit in the 'home away from home' bar and galk at the many girls trying to lure you into there house.
I'm surprised the number of working girls has dropped that low. In early March every club I went to had at least 10.
You are probably right. Apparently a few years back it was an awesome place.
One of my short term goals is still to enjoy a few days there again.

I'm also a bit surprised as well as I was there in Feb. & Dec. and recall that several houses, not all, had in excess of 10 girls each. They appeared to be importing girls still from vietnam as a few I took didn't even speak Khmer yet. From what I have read, I agree that KM11 is but a shadow of what it used to be nowadays.
The new frontier is Vietnam guys. Decent hotel cost from 10-30 USD. Short time girls is 25 and all nighter 40 USD. If you go to Saigon(Ho Chi Minh City) it is modern and have all night life stuff you can find in the states. I will be there
at the end of this year after my side tour to Rio. Sure hope all the hype about Rio live up.
Does anyone who reads this site know of any good travel agencies that has reasonable airline flights to Phnom Penh. I have been checking all the agencies via internet and have not found any that have trips to Phnom Penh. Any help would be appreciated.

Marc,
I don’t know any travel agencies, but here are a couple of links to Airlines where you can purchase tickets via the Internet. The first is Singapore Airlines and they have flights to many major cities around the world. The second is Bangkok Airlines who are much cheaper if you can get yourself to Bangkok. If you can get yourself to Bangkok there are MANY travel agents in the Nana area that would love to help you set up your trip. This last option often ends up being the least expensive .
http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/app/saa
http://203.154.168.55/birts/
I bought my ticket from Bangkok to Danang here http://www.travelconnecxion.com/index.cfm?menuid=11 They have BKK-PNH for 6,800 Baht. (about $170) This is about the right price. This is not any special deal though and you could probably get about the same price from any Thai travel agent once you arrive. These guys were nice to deal with since they will give quotes and book tickets by e-mail and take credit cards by secure web site. My ticket will (hopefully) be delivered to my hotel when I arrive in Bangkok at no charge or else delivery is available to addresses the US by Courier for 600 Baht extra (~$15). There e-mail is info@travelconnecxion.com and I have found they usually respond within 24 hours but once needed a second e-mail. I don't specifically recommend them above any other Thai travel agent but they did have good prices and were easy to deal with. For Cambodia all Thai travel agents should be able to get about the same price but on my Danang ticket I contacted about 6 travel agents and they were a full 1800 baht ($45) cheaper than anyone else.
I'm assuming you are flying to Bangkok first. The Thai agent will not be able to get a good price for flights originating in the USA. If you want to go strait to Phnom Penh from the USA, EVA is your best bet. You can book it on-line at http://www.evaair.com but right now the prices aren't that great. You could probably get the EVA flight cheaper calling some local Asian travel agents out of the yellow pages or newspaper. Local Asian newspapers usually have ton's of ad's from Asian travel agents if these are available in your city. But flying to Bangkok and getting a BKK-PNH ticket there may still be the best value (and most fun).
Marc, I suggest you just wait, fly into Bangkok, then buy your tickets there. I've been to Cambodia twice. Both times I bought the tickets in Bangkok for a next day departure, no problem. A lot of the airlines in SEA don't charge higher prices for last minute purchases, unlike the policies used in North America..
Thanks for the help guys, I got a deal to BKK on United and took it. I got a visa for thailand and will spend about 2 months in BKK and pattaya and then make the run to Cambodia. I saw the cnn piece on TV and I don't believe that that kind of thing goes on anymore, I hope not. Anyway I am looking at a trip to PP around first part of September.
I made my trip to Phnom Penh and had a great time. I found good cheap food and cheap internet cafes. My room was rather expensive, but overall everything went well except I could not find the great world massage and i asked other expats and my motodop who adopted me did not know. Anyway I found other good places.
And people say that I take too much time off ... ;)
Hey, I don't read up on Cambodia threads often, although I've been there 5 times... Anyhow I wanted to put a good word in for anyone that needs a good guide. He's a motorbike taxi guide, speaks good english, and can get practically anything you'd want in PP. He's good people. He picks me up in an airconditioned car at my request (I sweat too much)... Anyhow, send me a MSG if you'd like his e-mail addy. Cheers.
I am heading back to PP around the 22 of February and have made all of my arrangements even the airport pickup. But when you get to these hotels there is some person on staff who has a brother, sister or relative who is in the transpostation business and he wants to introduce you to them. They usually do not know all the places you want to go. I would like to have a driver who knows his way around and can take care of you. I did have a pertty good driver the last time I was there but he was all ways there and if you want to walk some place he does not understand. These are not complaints, just observations. The last driver I had was there for me all the time. There is something to be said about riding on the back of a motodop with a small lady between you and the driver. cheers.

Marc, are youplanning to conduct your business in US$ or local currency. Also, how did you book hotel room or are you just going to check out a few places and pick once there?
Well guys....my tix is paid for.
Will be in Cambo in Dec...if anyone is around inbox, if anyone has good tips/advice please share. I am reading Merlin's reports as well as others...
Long time to go!

Concarne, glad to hear your plans are finalized. We'll miss U in Colombia ;-) Hopefully you've been following the thread on Ben Wee and drivers, I'd recommend you email him to get the latest info and find out about good hotels for you, even if you decide not to use him.
Additionally, I'm sure you know, but a lot of my intensive travels to Cambodia occurred in 2003-2004 so the info in my reports here are a bit outdated, especially the p4p thing. I do keep in contact with Ben a couple of gal friends though.
In PP, Martini's is always a good place to check out each nights for freelancers, been hearing good chatter by others still about this place. Lots of fly-by-night guesthouses that you should check up on with a knowledgeable driver.
If you get a chance, check out Sihounokeville (3hrs by car), which is a beautiful beach resort place. Many of the good Viet houses are closed I hear, but Ben should know if it's worthwhile.
My preference for p4p is to target the Vietnamese girls as I found the service consistently better, especially the Yum-Yum (BJs). Ask Ben to point out the gals at Martini that used to work at Svay Pak (severl there now) and they'll likely have this particular skill. Good luck.
CC
Your driver will connect you with the women. You let him know what you like and he'll take care of you.
Having read most (if not all) the Cambodia reports I found then next to useless. The scene there now changes every day (literally) and you need someone there with up-to-the-second information and Ben should be more then capable. I know our last driver (gent named, appropriately enough, Lucky) had a nice ride and was tapped into the pussy places. I especially liked the delivery service offered - three HOT girls (by my standards) are brought to the hotel for ST/LT depending on your needs. Nice to have three ADORABLE pieces of ass brought to you. I also liked sending him to the Khmer brothels to come back with a car FULL of ass to defile.
Wonderful country that there Cambodia...
E
Yes...I had gotten that sense of "moving tide" in the scene. Merlin, your nicely written reports are still useful since they give a sense of what the vibe would be.
Right now I am trying to get a list of driver's names both at PP and Snooky so that I have options (test their sources and pick the best!) when there.
I think I will stay at the CII since it appears the owner is cool and knows some stuff and some of the motodrivers at this place know lots of places.
Bummer on the long wait...
Another invaluable source of info you should not overlook is the local expats. Those gnarled old drunken Brits and Aussies can sometimes be hands down the best source of up to date information if you can pull yourself away from the ladies for a few seconds and make friends with the right guy. One reason I avoid guide/drivers to some extent is they tend to stere you away from places where you can interact with the expat community.
Hey IAS. I am going to be making a side trip from BKK to PP. I want to make a quick round trip to Ankor Wat. Have you sen it? It is one of the "Seven Ancient Wonders of hte World." I have wanted to see this for many years!
I think he's seen a lot of Ankor's Twat.
pp update may 2006
bar, ratio is good. there way less mongers, but there is also less girls.
martinis, girls are low. But the ratio is excellent. Many new young looking viet girls and a pushy mamasan to boot. Otherwise, saw alot of the same khmer girls lurking around.
houses by central market
went to a couple of viet houses and the selection was slim, but the quality was up.
sophias....same chicks, but more aggressive due to low season.
cyree (sp?) a couple of cuties, and pretty aggressive. tried to upsell a friend.
mikados....again a couple of cuties, but seemed unmotivated, then again, i visited the place early.
walkabout-same girls, but less. real professionals here. some will try to charge more, so negotiating might be good with certain pros.
shangra-la. same
rose bar, some real cuties here particularly the bartender. not sure what type of bar this is. Girls here do not push to get barfined. My friend offered 30usd for the night, and got denied. i paid a $5 bar fine, and the girl only asked for taxi money to get a change of clothes for later, but we hit it off. i guess it's a ymmv kinda place.

I will be in Pnh in december.. I wanted to know if they used american currency or there own currency.. In THailand almost always Baht.. I heard atm machines are rare in the city and usually only at the airport.. Appreciate if someone knew and could let me know...

Definitely US Currency in PP, bring 20's, but also lots of 1's, 5's and 10's, and make sure that they are in good condition, if they are ripped or torn, some people won't take them. I tried to use a ripped $20 for my exit fee at the airport, they wouldn't take it.
I have heard that there are now several atms in town, I didn't look on my last trip (in july), because i had brought plenty of american cash.
You need:
1's for tips and food
5 for brothel STs
10 for paying for food/drinks at bars
20 for LT
Thus, bring a shit load of 1's and 5's in good condition. When you need to reload cum take a break and go get a happy pizza!

I was at the party in Pickled parrot when a couple of Americans at a table was eating a pizza, they offered me a piece and added that it was a happy pizza,
I said that i might not like the contents, but they said its mild so i took one piece,it was nice, The Americans left the table to go to another bar [taking there pizzas with them]
And i went next door to the rose bar,and was i on a roll,I was like with 3 girls, nearly banging one on a table right there in the bar

Hotel $15, Here you can get a nice room with A/C.
Barfine $10, Some bars do $5 before 22.00 Hours
Long time $20 Here check that the girl will stay.
You havent the excitement of the gogo bars like Thailand but some bars in PP do a gogo style dance with cloths on,on top of the bar.

I have noticed a lack of young vietnamese woman in cambodia, reading another board, a monger there was saying that the cambodian government was stopping any vietnamese without a work visa coming into Cambodia.
By Baxter on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 - 11:44 pm: Edit |
While I certainly welcome their presence, I never quite understood why they would allow them there in that piss poor country to compete with the locals to begin with??
By Redbus on Friday, March 02, 2007 - 02:50 pm: Edit |
baxter, Vietnamese woman will go a lot further than there cambodian sisters, cambodians dont like to kiss in the mouth [its for eating], and dont always blow you, in vietnam mongering is restrictive, like you can not take girls to your hotel, so cambodia can be a better place for them.
I'll be going to P.P. next month. I have heard about crackdowns and closures. Is it still worthwhile? I notice no recent posts. I am wondering how much time I should schedule.
Hi There
I will be in BKK Jan 5th to 9th and PP 9TH TO 12TH.
Would Love to connect with fellow mongerrers specially in PP. hAVE BEEN TO bkk before. First time to PP.

The closures come and go. Depends upon payoffs. Everything pretty much open now in PP. Lots of thefts though. The girls at Sony will lock your head and give you a back massage while some asshole comes into the room, crawls across the floor, and rifles your clothes even if they are at the other side of the room. Some reports of problems on 63rd as well.

At this present moment the bars and clubs are open in PP.
On another board mongers there are complaining about Cambodian woman not giving them a good service, laying there like robots and only let you f**k them nothing else.
I always go with the vietnamese woman there, there always good and fun to be with.

Reported in the issue of the Phnom Penh post from another forum.
young woman called orange girls ply there trade in the Independence park, by selling oranges and other services to local young men. A young man will sit next to an orange girl and chat for a fee. if the customer wants to touch her up he has to pay more. sexual intercourse is available as well, were they go to a ST guest house thats near. on a good night the girls can sell up to two or three dozen oranges.

That's funny. I recall they used to have hot girls selling a brand of beer that were available as were the gals selling flowers. I could've started a supermarket you know.

How is daytime action in Phnom Penh? Basically ease of use for finding a decent selection of short-times in the afternoons. I am fine with the non-bar scene and do not mind straight up brothels and street / cafe pick-ups and such. I am not immensely picky on short-times, a selection of 7s with some 8s is just fine.
I am early in my Cambo research and debating on a split trip this Fall with LOS. (gotta plan well ahead due to work)
cambodia daytime action now primarily consists of amps theses days. Many of the brothals have closed down and the service took a huge nose dive at the ones that are left. Best to collect numbers in the evenings to arrange for daytime visits.
By Redbus on Saturday, March 13, 2010 - 03:20 am: Edit |
Cambodia has changed a lot now, loads of building work going on, new roads. To be honest i thought a lot of brothels to be bad and pleased that they have been closed. Hostess bars are Ok except the ladys seem to be pushing for $50 LT.
By Bambu on Saturday, March 13, 2010 - 12:22 pm: Edit |
Walkabout is open 24/7 and there are always girls looking for customers. That being said, they can be very rough. And as of late, they have required the girls to present IDs before they can enter. This policy has decreased the amount of girls during the day.
Candy Bar is 24/7. Their day shift isn't much to write home about.
There are dozens of fish bowls around the city. These places are alive and kicking. You are sure to find some cuties here. Prices tend to be a bit higher.
Lots of knock shops around as well. I don't really spend anytime in these places so can't comment much.
Socrates made a good suggestion. Grab numbers from girls in the evenings at the hostess bars, Martini's, Heart, Walkabout, Sharky's, etc, and setup afternoon sessions.
I go to Cambodia frequently and hostess bar girls have never requested 50 USD for LT. 30-40 is more common and they can be talked down.

many bars open at nite west of Tonle Sap river such as:
oasis, 69, pussycat bar on ph 136 (ph = phlauv = street)
dream bar, ph 118. happyman bar, ph 110. bunny bar, ph 104.
tourism: hired mototaxi ($9 rt incl. wait) all morning to drive me to Killing Fields of Choeung Ek (14km SW of central pp), Tuol Sleng Museum S-21, Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, Nat'l museum. admission $2-3 each.
PP - Siem Reap: Sok Sokha Express Limo bus $5, 5.5 hrs, hotel pickup.
I can't really add to the above posts, all is about the same as described above. I will say that I should've been more carefull giving out my cell number. I get a call from almost all of them daily wanting $10 (might be my size?).
All shapes and flavors here. I've ran into from Porker's Pattaya Massage Woman to over and above my MJS in AC.
I've also dicovered, the asking price is usually proportional to the girl's English. Get a 7-8 for $10 that knows 6 words of English, or 3-7 for $40 that will chat your ear off. 8-9 and really good English, well I cant afford that at the moment...
FOOD: Local food here is about the same as PI and if you're lucky maybe some LOS type. Overall, I rarely eat it, when I do it's when a girl brings it to me.
Porigner food is way way bettter than PI and better than Pattaya. Candy Bar pizza has to be on my top 5 worldwide. $5 for enough for 2(if she's fast enough) and add $1.50 for happy.
Burgers are over the top here too, as well as Mexican food. I rate Sharky's here well above Zapata's in AC. Hippie disagrees, but he's from Csl...

Because the Cambodian government has put a lot of restrictions on the nightlife there, bars for westerners tend to get older tiresome woman. For the Cambodians theres loads of Karaoke restaurants etc that has beautiful young woman. As i read on another board, foreigners get the left over crumbs.
