I propose that we use this topic to post only the latest news on bar closures and police crackdowns. Please, do not post rumors here. There are many people who are planning trips to Thailand who want accurate information about the nightlife scene. Perpetuating unsubstantiated rumors serves no one.

For those not aware, the government voted into office last year has a new, get tough Interior Minister. His ultimate goal would be to eliminate the sex scene in Thailand, but he has to make changes incrementally. His first step last year was to start enforcing the old law that bars have to close at 2pm. Lately, he has been successful in stopping sex shows and banning nudity in gogo bars. Of course, enforcement here is always selective depending upon police payoffs.

To post here you should currently be in Thailand and only report what you have seen first hand. If you want a general discussion on this topic or wish to theorize about what is happening then please create a separate topic for that.

Also, remember that the situation in Thailand changes on almost a daily basis. Turnover rates at bars are high as girls come and go. Good bars go to hell or dives turn around to become hot night spots in the space of a week. Likewise, some bars originally ordered closed work out deals and reopen sooner than expected. Basically, don't rely on old information.

This is one reason I am making my third trip in four months... I want to enjoy this little paradise while it's still around...

Let's face it Indy ... the reason you are making your third trip in four months is that you are greedy. (I'm jealous, can you tell?)

Don't worry guys. The so called crackdown hasn't amounted to much more than a few temporary (30 day) closures and some fines. There is still an almost unlimited number of women available. Don't panic.

There is still a lot of talk about zoning nightspots in both Bangkok and Pattaya and eliminating certain types of entertainment, but until something happens it's just rumors. That's why we need accurate verifiable updates.

I'm halfway through my fourth trip in 10 months simply because I'm addicted to Thai women.

Frenchie has it right. Nobody should be put off making a trip to Thailand because of all the talk of a crackdown. I made my third trip in the last year in late January and the only noticeable difference was that most of the gogo bars were not allowing the ladies to take their tops off. There was still some topless action at some of the soi cowboy and pattaya gogo bars. The BJ bars in pattaya and soi cowboy were open and operating as usual.

Mcdijj, I disagree. The reason IndyLa is making his third trip in four months is because...HE CAN. Damn I envy him.

I actually had to reroute my trip and delay my arrival in BKK... business in Aussieland should be done shortly, then I will need to make a stop in BKK en route (?) to the USA. I miss Eden club... maybe I'll spring for a 5 or 6 lady fling this time. And Cambodia is a MUST on this trip. I'm not missing out on K11 again.

Things are loosening up alot with nudity in the bar scene from when I was in LoS Oct/01 and Feb/02. Topless all around at NEP a couple of days ago. Arrived in Pattaya yesterday. First go-go I hit was Doll House. Didn't make it out of there alone so it is the only place I have seen yet. Dancers are wearing scanty whisps of see through cloth ... topless and bottomless (almost). No problem telling if girl shaves or not. I intend to do more research on this tonight.

Nudity is good. I would vote for more of it. Hell, I might even pay for more of it.

BTW, I plan on being a photo tourist this trip, snapping all the pics I can of every nook, cranny and crack available.

After a couple more eveings in Pattaya I regret to report that the Doll House is the only go-go I have visited that featured extremely scanty costumes ... the rest seem to be same as last 6 months.

Crackdown is definitely ending. Happy a Go Go has a
totally nude show every hour or so. And the Beer Bottle speculum seems to have resumed at Hot and Cold 2 on Soi Post Office.

I knew it. The scene is way too huge and lives much too dependent on the sex scene for it to last forever.

Time for an update...

I don't know about the nudity and lesbian/sex shows. Any info on if these are still happening and if so, where? Is there a 'secret knock' you have to use or something?

Closing time 2AM everywhere. Scattered nudity in Pattaya-- none in BKK . Lesbian shows etc still ongoing in Pattaya. Superbaby,Living Dolls Showgirls, and Happy Ago-go have about the hottest shows. Heat varies with degree of police presence however.
In BKK the only sex shows are the upstairs bars in Patpong. Those are tired and worn out-- just like the girls who perform in them. Not to be recommended .
