This bar is on the first floor about halfway back to the left as you enter the complex.

This has always been one of my favorite places in Nana. You'll know you're in the right place if you see these cheesy sex cartoons on the monitors. They're so absurd they're actually funny. They've been running that continual tape loop at this bar for ages and probably won't stop until the tape breaks.

Recently they lowered their barfine to 350 baht, just when all the other places are jumping up from 500 to 600. The last time I was in here the ladies were being taken out quickly, so get there early.

Just to let you know the fine is back up to 500-750, and I've included a brief report below for those interested...
Bar Nana Complex, So1 3 Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok.

“Bottoms Up”

I worked in Thailand for 6 months (from Feb ’02 to Aug ’02) and although I traveled around a lot it was for work and not pleasure so I can’t tell you much about the touristy things you could see.
However, in my evenings off and weekends I spent much of my time along Sukhumvit road, and the most ‘fun’ part is Soi 3 and the Bar Nana area, this is a shopping mall type complex set off Soi 3 and you can’t miss it, it normally has an elephant at the entrance and loud music coming from within.
If it’s your first time there I strongly suggest a walk around the three levels just to see the extent of the bars and the girls – but beware of the 2 ‘Lady Boy’ bars (one on the ground floor and one on the second floor)
All the bars have different music themes and also slightly different dress themes for the girls, but ALL of the bars have topless dancers.
I am going to stick with a description of one particular bar, and I may do some more on some of the other bars at a later date.
The “Bottoms Up” bar was by far my favourite – mainly for the music, I find it far more pleasant to see girls dancing to ‘old’ songs (60’s, 70’s and 80’s stuff) that trying to be sexy to some rap crap (my opinion – and apologies to those who enjoy rap)
The bar is located on the ground floor, left hand side as you enter the complex and is the second one in, as usual there are people outside (both male and Female) who will try and invite you in, once you agree you are whisked through the curtain and rushed to a table. The seats are comfortable, although the tables are small – especially when you have 3 or 4 girls around it.
There are 2 dance stages with the usual poles and pillars for the girls to dance around or lean against. The lighting is quite good and with the mirrors it is possible to see every aspect and angle of the girls.
The dancers rotate every 3 songs, giving a chance for the girls to circulate around the room – although if you catch the eye of one dancing she will leave the stage immediately and run to your table.
Watch out for the older (ugly) one who will come and try to massage your shoulders (quite painfully) while asking continuously for a drink – send her away immediately unless you like pain!
The girls will immediately ask for drinks (normally Tequilla) and after the first drink will ask you to pay the Bar fine (750 Baht – or about 11 UK pounds) if you agree she will take the money and run off to change into street clothes, while she is away any number of other girls will try and get you to buy drinks or pay their bar fine too, but they will soon disappear when the first girl returns.
If you don’t pay the bar fine, you can spend a very pleasant evening being groped and seduced by a continually changing group of girls, all trying their best to tease you into taking them home for the night – a lot of fun, but you can end up with a 3 – 5,000 Baht bar bill.
Once you have paid the Bar Fine, and settled you bar tab, the girl is yours for the night.
There is no set fee and the girls leave it up to you to decide how much to give, but as a guide…
1-2000 Baht – you will probably get spat on next time you go to the bar
2-3000 Baht – she will accept but you will not get a warm welcome if you go back
3-5000 Baht – and she will ‘love you’ forever and her friends will be fighting over you when she is not around.
One thing I did find once you have paid a girls bar fine, is that whenever you go back to that bar, you will almost never be able to see another girl, they are very possessive of ‘their’ customers.
It is also a good idea to buy the manager and owner a drink, makes each visit more enjoyable as they will not allow the girls to pester you, which although enjoyable for the first visit, can become very annoying when it happens every time.
The “Bottoms up” bar is highly recommended and all the girls range from Attractive to stunning, they all speak very good English and seem to really enjoy teasing you.

Every time I walk into most of the Bars in NEP I am warmly greeted by girls who remember me and I have NEVER paid more than 2000Baht.

Fellow hombres, one reason I am spending more time in Pnom Penh than in Thailand this trip is due to price. For whatever reason, inflation has taken hold in the LOS. They're not getting 3000-5000 Baht from me, they dont earn it anymore. I have found Cambodia to be real bargain territory, once you get to know the place. The girls here are more hungry and dont watch TV while massaging you. They fuck! BKK women dont get my business anymore, except for the nights of arrival and departure.

Sorry to offend any diehard BKK hombres, but I see BKK girls getting westernized; boring, greedy and lazy. Plenty of those girls in America. I'm a Phom Penh fan for now.

Ask me agian next month, when I return from the second half of this trip... Angeles City!!!

OVER PAID!! Especially for Nana.

Best (IMO) agogo bar in Patpong2 bar fine 400 baht and I paid the girl 1,500 baht for midnight to 9:00 am the first night and 1,000 plus bar fine the second and NOTHING in cash the third (and last) night. I did buy a few presents (no gold) but not much and she looked after me real well.

It's too bad that they've dropped the 350 baht barfine. They started that around Aug 2001 and it was still in effect when I was there last month. Nana is really getting out of control on pricing.

Know what to pay can be a problem if you don't have a frame of reference. That's why the girls usually ask if you've been to Thailand before. They're not interested in hearing about your travel experiences, they're trying to gauge your knowledge of the bar scene. They usually ask where you are staying and how long to size up your budget.

A couple of times that I wasn't interested in barfining a girl, when asked I said that was my first trip to Thailand, just to see what kind of prices they would throw at me. Actually, I've been there 5 times, staying a month on each trip. The girls usually quoted 2,000 baht ST & 3-4,000 LT, which is ridiculous.

Prices vary from Bangkok to Pattaya and from beer bars to Gogos, but anything over 2,000 baht is too much unless you're into some kind of kinky shit. I pay 1,000 baht ST and 1,500 LT, tipping up to 500 baht extra for the great ones. They're always happy with that and when I come back to the bar they want to go with me again.

You should know that they will remember you and what you paid. The girls often talk among themselves about how much customers pay. If you start out paying too much they will always expect that from you.

By Shur1ken on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 - 12:57 pm:  Edit

Looks like the prices can vary quite a bit, my experiences were gained from myself and the 15-20 other guys working with me over a period of 6 months, the Bar Fine remained the same though.
The guys who shelled out less than 2000 ended up having to go to another bar, where they were warmly welcomed (and they made that their 'local')
Myself, after the first night (I paid her 3,500) I didn't pay for the next 2 nights, and that seemed to set the tone each time I went back, paid the first night, nothing the rest.
So I guess the thing to learn is to barter, barter, barter.
Happy Hunting!

I like the Bottoms Up myself, and I have had good times on each occasion. All girls have let me take photos, and once I had two who took turns with the camera as the other girl and I took care of business.

While I have paid 1,000 for poor service at a few other bars, I usually pay 1,500 for a short time and 2,000 for a long time. Short time includes doing it twice, which for me means about an hour total time.

Even paying these prices, I am still quite popular there and have no problem getting someone twice should that be my desire.

I would highly receommend not paying over 2,000 at any Nana bar.

Murasaki and I went into Bottoms Up several times in DEC 02 and never saw anything we would do if they paid us !! In LoS the quality of the girls in most bars varies from week to week let alone each month. That is why CURRENT info is so crucial. There are damn few bars that have consistently high quality girls over the Years. Last trip even Long Gun in Soi Cowboy was a friggin pasture for contented cows! In my 15 years of mongering the most consistent bars in Nana Are the 2 Rainbow bars . In Dec the 2 hottest bars were Voodoo and Mandarin- both off the radar screen during past trips . Nana is like a box of chocolates- u know the rest.

The "BOTTOMS UP" name has been changed back to the original "PRETTY LADY" for various reasons. I never liked the fact that they changed the name and to a much less popular name too. Pleased to say that "Pretty Lady" is the official name once again.

By Murasaki on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 09:50 pm:  Edit

It was "Pretty Girl" when I first visited in 1998. It was the first Thai go-go I ever set foot in and I'll take to the grave with me the memories of the site that met my eyes when I stepped through that door. "This must be what heaven is like" is what I thought.

I'll always have a soft spot for that bar, even though the talent has sucked the last few trips.

By Khun_mor on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 11:36 pm:  Edit

Pretty Girl is the bar that more than a few years ago I had a pre-op katoey sitting on my lap for an hour , who almost had me paying a barfine before my hands wandered to where they should have gone minutes into "her" sitting on my lap. GD she was cute but had a bit of extra equipment I was not ready to deal with. Things like that get burned into your memory.

I have had 3 close encounters of the katoey kind now - perhaps even closer encounters I am not aware of .

Nothing in Thailand is really what it seems after all.

Murasaki & Khun Mor,

Those were the times, the good old days! Pretty Girl/Pretty Lady has got a long history. It still to this day gets a following, although I agree much smaller than before. I worked there as a manager for a year (1998) as a newbie to the go-go bar biz. Wow, was that an experience, working for a vicious, hardcore Thai woman called "Jip." I survived it but it was a great learning process. Used to be a terrific bar at one time but those were the good old days of course. Khun Mor would remember them well.

Lumbered in here last night. I was amazed to see it packed. Usually have the girls to myself here. Not too many lookers but easy to have fun here.

The bar has 2 dance floors. The bar along the dance floor is mirrored. All the girls wear skirts and most with no panties. I suppose it is catching on and drawing a crowd.

This isn't a Rainbow bar and usually doesn't draw a large Japanese crowd. I did see a number of Asian folk here last night. The upskirt fetish must be contagious.

The bar is fairly small and doesn't have any female hostesses.

Hi Walkingdude,

Great to meet you in Nana Plaza, out with Hunterman who is a cool guy to hang out with. I am pleased you like Nana Plaza, you not only give positive feedback but good information too. I used to be a manager at Pretty Lady and it always has had a following. It's Thai owned and you are right in your observations in my opinion. I do not like the fact that Pretty Lady insist on having male service or waiters. We are NOT a gay bar area and who comes to Thailand to meet exotic Thai men! I certainly don't think the CH board do! They always seem to have customers but I could never persuade the owner to employ waitresses. This would give Pretty Lady that added attraction.

By the way, never get into an argument in Pretty Lady, with all those Thai guys I have seen many a drunk "wise guy" leave horizontally.

Bottoms Up was forced to change back to their previous name "Pretty Lady" here is a photo...

-My Image-

By Phoenixguy on Sunday, April 10, 2005 - 11:42 am:  Edit

Just out of curiosity, why would they be "forced" to change their name?

By Murasaki on Sunday, April 10, 2005 - 06:51 pm:  Edit

From what I've read in other places, as part of the general crackdown going on, the authorities in Bangkok are mandating that all bars must "operate" under their registered business name. Many bars have been forced to deal with this issue, because their current name didn't match what was registered with the Thai authorities when the business first opened. So in this case, Pretty Lady was the name on the business license, not Bottoms Up. It's been another conduit for harassment of the bar scene.

By Dave_the_rave on Monday, April 11, 2005 - 04:41 am:  Edit

Spot on Murasaki, Hollywood Carousel and Pretty Lady both received a five day closure for this. In addition to the neon sign reflecting the same license registration name, a sign in Thai must appear under the neon sign above the bar entrance. It stops an illegal switch of ownership too which isn't a bad thing.
