Guys,
There are better hotels in town, but I like the location, service, and access to shopping and baht bus/motorbike service at this one. (No need to sweat while you’re on the way to Beer bars and MP’s!) Just to make sure I have the prices correct, here are excepts from my e-mail correspondence. I asked about joiners. I had had no problems before, and this place is where a lot of Navy aircrew stayed so you know they aren’t fazed easily! The girl drops her ID at the front desk. This is for your protection. Stayed here many times in the past.

Thank you for your email inquiry. There is no joiner fee, if you are a hotel member BUT when you bring a joiner to your room, you must register her at the front desk with her I.D. card before you bring her to your room and this is required by the city government also if they come to check, we must be able to provide them with information. This is to protect foreign tourists in case anything happens. If not a hotel member, we charge 300 Bahts extra per night. There is one joiner allowed per room per night. (Never seen that one enforced - javaj)

Starting 28 December 2003 through 5 January 2004 inclusive (a total of 8 nights, excluded 31 Dec. 2003), there will be a surcharge of 300 Bahts per night in addition to the above room rates. On the night of 31 December 2003, there is a compulsory Gala Dinner of 1,000 Bahts per person and the 300 Bahts surcharge will be waived for 31 December 2003 only. This condition applies to all room guests who are accommodating during the above period and subject to change without prior notice. (Same condition as previous years).

Therefore on the nights of 12 to 14 April, the rate for a standard room is 1,200 Bahts/net/night/room included breakfast and from 15 April on is 900 Bahts/net/night/room included breakfast.

I just stayed at the Royal Palace, 2/20-24/05. My rate was 1,350 Baht, reduced to 1000 Baht after I joined the club. All above comments by Javaj are accurate. The Pool area is really nice.
