In planning my upcoming PI trip I was looking at airport transportation
options. One that I do not see discussed much is flying from MNL to Clark. The
airline is here. I looked
into this and there are daily flights Monday through Friday leaving MNL to Clark
at 5:30PM and leaving Clark to MNL at 8:30AM. It is a half hour flight. ROUND
TRIP fare is only 1,030PhP. I believe that would be cheaper than a cab one way.
You book the flights by e-mail at
tickets@flyseair.com . What does all of this mean for me? Not a damn
thing since I arrive and leave on Sundays when there is no flight. Still I
thought maybe someone would benefit from my research. Surely a 30 minute flight
is better than a 2 hour car ride for half the price.

Been there, done that. How can you beat $20 for a round trip flight when a taxi cost $60 and takes more time. Flights are smooth.

There is something that you must know before flying from Manila to Angeles and by subversa. You will be charged an extra 40 peso per kilo over 10 kilos. For those of you whom carry extra luggage, this can mean a jump from 500 pesos to 1000 pesos. Also note that the taxi charges 200 pesos to take you from Clark to your hotel in Balibago. If you factor in the taxi from your hotel to domestic airport or from international to domestic, it is about the same price as a taxi. The difference is that you get there in 20 minutes and the traffic jams on that small highway on Monday thru Friday are about 3-6 hours. It is guanteed that a taxi ride from Angeles to Manila on a Friday will take you a minimum of 4 hours...so plan accordingly. Another thing is that the planes are veyr well maintained and are very durable...they can land on anything...including grass.

Do you have to take a Taxi from Clark to your hotel in Balibago or is that just for you fancy, first class traveling, types? ;) Arent there Jeepneys? Or do they keep Jeepneys and trikes out of Clark?

There are no jeepneys or trikes anywhere near the airport

Blazers, excellent point about possibly being gigged for overweight luggage. Also don't forget the 'airport usage tax' (100 pesos) and taxi fee from the domestic terminal to the Int'l terminal. I paid more than 1,200 pesos all told from door to door from the Orchid to the gate in Manila. The taxi to take me to Clark was to arrive at 7 AM (it was 15 minutes late), and I arrived at the Int'l terminal in Manila at 9:30, so it's not like the trip takes 20 minutes in real time from door to door. I will trust you about the early morning traffic heading to Manila, though.

I'd take the AC-Manila flight again if it was convenient on my trip home, but I wasn't impressed re: the time savings (although my other trip to Manila was in the middle of the night) or the cost, which ended up being a LOT more than the 500 pesos they advertise all things considered. I didn't see anyone getting blown on the plane, either, which IMO is a HUGE advantage for taking a car service to Manila!!! :-)

Sancho, I hear it is a lovely walk early in the morning.

Blazers, you obviously did mention the taxi in Manila. I posted almost exactly what you said on the AC2 board to Ken several weeks back and he bit my head off.
