Hey guys,

Just in case I make it to BKK, which hotel should I avoid. I know every city has some hotels that are very strict.

thanks,
CN

Ceenotes, a great guide to friendly/unfriendly hotels is the Sanukmaps map of Sukhumvit Road. In order to get the map, you'll need to join the sanukmaps Yahoo group. Under the files section in the group, they've got a number of maps of the various mongering locations of Bangkok. They show you the status on the hotels as well. I always take these maps with me when I visit.

If you plan to stay in the Sukhumvit area, according to the most recent map, between Soi Zero and Soi 39, the unfriendly hotels are:

Ambassador
Atlanta
Bel-Aire
City Lodge
Landmark
Manhattan
Miami
Park
Queen Park
Royal Benja
Somerset
Swiss Park
Taipan
Windsor
Zenith

By Ceenotes on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 - 02:24 pm:  Edit

MS,

Shit! Not the Windsor, looks like a nice place and has a club in the hotel. Why the hell, would they not let me bring the ladies up?
Oh Well, time to search for another one.
I thought someone posted that they had a 4-some at the Ambassador.

Well it's always possible that they were able to sneak the girls in, or the people working that particular shift didn't care. Also keep in mind that things may have changed since the last version of the map was put out, so some of those hotels could very well be friendly by now.

But why risk it? Just book at a known friendly hotel and enjoy peace of mind.

Murasaki, I've tried to locate the sanuksmap group on Yahoo but can't find it. Nothing under "sanuk" nor "sanukmaps". Can you give any further info on the name of the group? Thanks.

By Murasaki on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 - 12:11 pm:  Edit

Strange. You're right. It shows up in my yahoogroups section, because I've been a member for a while, but I can't find it in the directories. I also discovered that you can't find any of the adult-related group in Yahoo anymore.

I'm not sure what's going on. Yahoo may be trying to strangle the adult groups. I sent an e-mail to the owner of the sanuk maps group asking about this and how new people could join. I'll post back here if and when I get a response.

The list has some inaccuracies apparently.. I know that the Landmark is guest friendly. I have never stayed there but many of my bargirl friends say they go there all the time with customers and have never had a proiblem.
Also I believe the Ambassador has a joiner fee but will allow guests.
BTW the joiner fee is not legal in Thailand unless you agree to it in writing at the time you check in. The hotel cannot add hidden fees after you check in . If you raise a fuss about it you do not have to pay it-- most farang just pay so the Thais charge.

By Murasaki on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 - 08:30 pm:  Edit

Yeah, I figured some of those would have changed by now. Sanukmaps aren't perfect, that's for sure, of course it would be hard for any map/guidebook to stay current on such an everchanging scene. I use them primarily for massage parlor locations anyway, not for hotel selection!

By Dick Johnson on Thursday, August 28, 2003 - 03:10 am:  Edit

Most 5 * hotels you'd have to pay 500-1000baht to bring a girl in. Shangrila, Orieantal etc. Many 3-4* business hotels too. The girl may also have to leave her ID, sort of for your own protection. I remembered first time that happened I didn't mind paying but was pissed that my girl, who did not work any any bars etc had to leave her ID LOL.

On occasions I have been able to sneak girls in 5 * hotels but you may still have to tip if caught.

How about the marriott?
Are there two?

CN

By Khun_mor on Saturday, August 30, 2003 - 02:57 pm:  Edit

The JW Marriott is the one just 2 blocks from NEP and is very duest friendly. Up to you if you leave girls ID at desk. No joiner fee.

As I said earlier --you do NOT have to pay the fee if it is not disclosed at time of check in and agreed to . Every one just pays so the hotels keep charging. This comes from Marc at Eden-- he says if you refuse to pay joiner fee there is nothing the hotel can do about it. Never tried it-- I NEVER stay in a hotel that would charge a fee.

The Ambasador is very easly guest friendly. The elevator is right by the front door and the lobby is huge. So nobody even notices you with a girl. In the morning you'll see all kinds of girls leaving that hotel. So i don't think Murasaki is quite up to date on the bad hotel stuff. I'd like to try the Windsor hotels; they look kind of nice for the price although a little far from the action.

By Beachbumb on Monday, October 13, 2003 - 01:52 am:  Edit

J.W. Marriot. That hotel sucks. It's like 150 per nite and the hotel staff will steal your money if you leave it out.
I stayed there one night because i made the mistake of checking out of my hotel on a friday and didn't know all the hotels there book up on the weekends like Vegas. Anyways i got a room there. I had just gotten money out of the ATM so when i went up to my room i left my wallet with the cash sitting on top of it while i went to the pool for a swim. When i came back; someone had delivered a fruit bowl to my room and stole like 3000 baht, about a 3rd of the money i had sitting there.
When i told the hold they said they'd do an investigation and get back to me. I'd only been there for an hour and the doors use cards to enter the rooms, so figuring out who delivered the fruit bowl couldn't be all that hard.
Anyways when i got home from parting that night i had a messege left under my door from the hotel saying they were sorry but didn't offer to do anything about it. So i woke up first thing the next morning and went and found a new hotel The Ambasador Hotel. I then went back to the Mariot and checked out. I told the lady i wanted to put the charge on my credit card because i planed on telling the credit card company not to pay them because i had been robbed by the hotel staff and the hotel wasn't doing anything about it.
Next thing the manager appears and says something about the police; so i told him to go get them because i had been triing all morning to get in touch with them. I told the manager to have them meet me right there in the middle of his lobby. The whole time this was happening i was telling every tourist i saw in the hotel about the staff stealing money from me right in front of this manager. Finally the manager decided to subtract the amount stolen from the room.
That hotel has to be one of the biggest jokes around though. They were getting like 150-200 a night for that room which i had reserved for like 3 nights and instead of just taking care of the problem right from the start; they pushed me to the point where i had to just mess with them.
Conclusion.....DONT STAY AT JW MARRIOT

By Yodcha on Monday, October 13, 2003 - 10:20 am:  Edit

the luncheon buffet at the marriot is also way over priced and over rated-good artichoke hearts is all I can say for it

Is the Hyatt guest friendly?

By Sojourner on Wednesday, March 24, 2004 - 11:00 pm:  Edit

I answered my own question about the Erawan Hyatt. I stayed there last month, and I had no problem taking a 'guest' to my room as late as 2 am. There was always a security guard there at night who requested to see her ID and wanted to know my room number, but that was the only hassle I got.

By Lonely_guy76 on Sunday, June 06, 2004 - 04:40 am:  Edit

The Sukhumvit Crown on soi 6, won't care anything about guests. This is the hotel where i normally stay in BKK. The prize is 700 THB (High season) including the breakfast. And no any problem with guests. Also location is good. Just few hundred meter from Nana BTS, NEP. 500m from Coyboy and etc. Also there is an Blowjob bar "Lólita's" just in the next soi 8. it's just 30 m from the reception of Sukhumvit Crown.

Sorry to see a member have to answer his own question, but few of us on this board are ever going to stay at a place with a room charge like the Erawan Hyatt !!
For future hombres with big expense accounts - did you register as double or single person ?? Many of the major hotels will charge a joiner fee if you are registered for one person.

By Epimetheus on Sunday, June 06, 2004 - 07:29 pm:  Edit

I tried the Sukhumvit Crown just off of Soi 6 for a shorttime one night and found it to be a real unsavory alternative to most other hotels. The room was tired-looking, TERRIBLE A/C, and a ceiling fan that I was just certain would fall down and impale me just as I was in the process of impaling the lady beneath me.

Now, they may have renovated this place since the last time I drifted through here... but I doubt it!!

Khun mor,
I always register at hotels as 2 people just in case there is a problem bringing company in. Yeah, I'm on expense account so that allows me to stay at some pricey hotels, although sometimes I stay longer on my own dime so then I move down the food chain (usually only in price though, not in quality).

By Khun_mor on Tuesday, July 06, 2004 - 11:53 pm:  Edit

Sojouner
Thanks for reply. That's what I thought . Some 4-5 star hotels will not charge joiner fee if you register initially for 2 people. It does not always work though.
Way back when Patpong was about the only game in town I registered at Tawana Ramada on Suriwong Rd as double but my friend registered as single. We BF'd 2 hotties from Atami soapie-- now closed-- The security guard actually chased us into the elevator and asked us our room numbers. He let me go up with my teerak but my buddy had to go back to the desk to pay extra charge !!
Always best to register as double occupancy-- may not help , but never hurts.

Has anybody stayed at the Grand President and knows if they are girl friendly? Thanks.

By Khun_mor on Friday, September 17, 2004 - 05:48 pm:  Edit

Coconuts
They look at you strangely if you come in late at night without a girl next to you.

They are as guest friendly as they come ,like all the President properties. Solitaire- Royale etc.

Thanks Khun mor,

This will be my virgin trip to Thailand. I have frequented TJ a lot and just got back from Spain, so this should be something different.

Khun nuts
As many others have said-- TJ will never be the same for you again. Nothing I can say will prepare you for the assault on your sexual senses that Nana Plaza or especially Pattaya will deliver.

Have fun.
Any dates planned yet for trip ??

Hi Fellow Hombres:
I will be visiting Bangkok on June 25-27th for a sex visit on my way home from business trip to Tokyo. I would very much appreciate advice on which reasonably priced quality hotel that will not ask questions if I bring a guest to the room. Also like to know which part of the city I should stay so as to find the best girls.

By Phoenixguy on Thursday, May 19, 2005 - 09:37 pm:  Edit

Take a look at the listings under Bangkok: Hotels/Serviced Apartments, there's a ton of hotel reports already there. I'd suggest reviewing the ones with lots of postings if you're short on time.

Does anyone know if Century Park Hotel currently allows guests as I'll be staying there next month? Thanks

By Khun_mor on Sunday, August 07, 2005 - 08:23 pm:  Edit

Never heard of it , but after visiting the website it looks very upscale for the Pratunam area. Most of the hotels around there are old dumps like the Bangkok Palace and Indra Regent. That would make me worry that they are trying to maintain a certain upperclass clientele .I would guess that if they allow guests it would be with a joiner fee.
Why not send them an e mail and ask about their policy ??

By Jokerman on Tuesday, August 09, 2005 - 09:45 pm:  Edit

Ceenotes,

The Woraburi Sukumvit, Soi 4 is located way back on Soi 4 next too the Tobacco Monopoly. Its a cheap, clean and safe place to stay and although @ times they may say they charge for over night "Guests" I have never been charged anything. It does help to be very nice to the desk and cleaning ladies. Give tips of say 50/100 Baht every now and then and flowers go a long way as well. Good luck,

Jokerman

You mean the Sheraton Grande or the Westin ?? Both are guest friendly anyway - almost across the street from each other.

does the Grand president allow more then one guest?

thanks,
CN

By Mano_poderosa on Wednesday, December 07, 2005 - 11:49 am:  Edit

Yes, as of 3 years ago, the Grand President did, indeed, allow multiple guests without any added charges. That being said, the place was a bit dreary and nowhere near the standard of President Park (which is also multiple guest friendly).

Manos.

By Khun_mor on Wednesday, December 07, 2005 - 06:37 pm:  Edit

The Grand is the dump of the President properties. All of them are very guest friendly ,one or a gaggle - no pompen !!

KM,

Now your going to have me stress out and consider changing hotels...
Is it that bad? wallpaper peeling off? shitty carpet? cold showers?

CN

By Mano_poderosa on Thursday, December 08, 2005 - 12:26 am:  Edit

As of three years ago, it was nowhere near that bad. The furniture was just a bit worn and the room was too dark. That being said, it doesn't even compare to President Park (owned by the same group) on soi 24. My guess is that The Grand President is the oldest of their properties. The room at Grand President wasn't disgusting or anything, it was just a disappointment when compared with the high standard of their other properties. And, who knows, in the last three years they may have renovated.

Manos.

Omni Vs. Grand pres.

I hear the Omni is a few steps below GP.

Ceenotes
Chill my friend - it ain't all that bad. Compared to Pres Solitaire it is a dump but compared to Nana or Omni it is a step up as you point out.
Sorry to cause you grief.
The term dump was a bit of an exaggeration. I meant it was by far the oldest property of the 4 President hotels.

In Nana Plaza Area The Nana Hotel and Majestic Suites both are guest friendly.

I have stayed at Majestic suites and find it excellent. A friend stayed at the Nana and seemed to have no problemo.

Starting to plan my Jan trip 6 weeks in the Land of Smiles. First trip since my retirement got to try longer than 2 weeks this year.

Ciao Gerry.
