according to my expat buddy Roger (confirmed by others) who has lived in LOS since he's been 18.
1) Never ever, ever, never, never ever take a Thai person seriously.
2) Don't fuck the maid because then she'll want one too.
3) NOTHING is ever what it seems.
(Related more to business and contracts. Make sure leases are good and people who say they own buildings or leases actually do before signing anything).
Good leases and contracts do hold up in court.
Last advice: Look 5 ways before crossing any street. I almost found out this was true the hard way via a large truck my last trip.
