I needed a place to stay near the airport that didn't cost an arm and a leg while handling a 7 hour gap between my arriving flight and a domestic flight to Hua Hin. I found this place, the We-Train International house (http://www.we-train.co.th/). I got an air conditioned private room with hot/cold shower and television for 700 baht and pickup from the airport for 200 baht. I recommend it for those that need a stop-over hotel and don't want to pay for the Amari or similar accomodations.

Rastaman, seven hours is enough time to hit two soapies and still hang out in a bar for a bit (even if you count travelling time to and from the airport). Man, you must figure you'll be REALLY tired after your flight.

Wombat, I got in at 1:30 am. I figured almost everything good would be closed and lugging my suitcase would be a pain in the A. But your point is well taken. Also, I was meeting my sweetie at the airport and we were going together in the morning to Hua Hin from the airport on an 8 AM flight. Thus, the short term hotel.
