This review is on how to pick-up freelancers in Bangkok and where they can be found.
It helps to speak a few phrases of Thai but is not really necessary. Everyone knows about the famous Thermae and Grace hotel but it seems that some are wondering where you can meet some in the daytime when you grow weary and bored as you have already done all the tourist attractions.
The trick is to be friendly and not shy as Thai's will not do the initial approach unless you visibly show interest in them. Pool halls and sports bars have been my favorite as of late. Particularly Gullivers in Bangkok on Soi 5 in the Sukhumvit area. From the middle of the afternoon till the late hours of the night this place is good for meeting freelancers. Specially now that Thaksin has been clamping down on the Go-Go Bars. the ladies still have to work!
Just go to any billiard table and ask a lady to play pool with you and strike up a conversation. Complement her on her Beauty! You will get the usual standard question of "What's Your Name" "Where are you from?" Where are do you stay and how long are you in town for....and then inevitably asked if you want her for "A Girlfriend" the rest of the story is just getting the price! Overnight usually is about 1,500baht or roughly $37.50 or you can get a shortime meaning she leaves after you have been relieved of your anxiety so to speak for 1,000 baht or $24.
It also gets you more points if you can take her out to dinner and even movies and bowling and other extra curricular activities and if she is really good you can have her for the rest of your trip if you so desire. Word of Advice! DO NOT get into any kind of relationship other than the temporary girlfriend type....

Yet another one of the infamous "jack off" posts by a hit and run lurker that is full of recycled info gleaned elsewhere; and in this case, fails to mention two of the best spots in Bangkok for picking up freelancers, which goes to prove that this dude probably has never been there.

Obviously this guy has never been to Thailand. The correct way to say it in Thailand is "What you name?" "Where you from?"
Thailand-Happy place.

You are right on there. All of these girls go to Stickman's English class and all they learn is to recite
" Hello what your name ? Where you come from ? How long you stay Thailand ? What hotel you stay ? "
then they drop out and go to work !!
BTW
Two additional comments to the VERY informative post above--
1 --I don't think I have ever seen a sports bar in Thailand.
2-- The girls hanging out at the pool halls are not freelancers-- they friggin work there as hostesses !!

Khun Mor, Yes Gullivers is an American style Sports Bar,and there is a lot of freelancers hanging around. They seem to make the rounds to the freelance places in the area from Soi 7 to Soi 4.If they are hostesses then they are given a lot free reign to move about.I have mixed feelings about the place. While its very nice, and brand new I hate that 90,s pop stuff the dj plays a little too loud sometimes.I still prefer Woodstock even if the prices are higher, and its not nearly as nice.I guess I'm more of a rock+roll fan than pop.

After floating my offering on the Chao Praya last Loi Kathrong I headed to Nana Plaza. NEP had doubled the bar-fine that night in Buddha's honor even if the place was almost empty. That pissed me off, so I headed over to Annie's. Passing in front of Gulliver's (which really looks, sounds and smells like a sports bar) I started chatting with a bunch of young girls I took to be free lancers. There was one that I was really attracted to, but seemed reluctant to go with me even though she was obviously enjoying the chat and flirting. I thought that odd until I found out that she was a hostess for Gulliver's and girls were hanging out in front because business was so damn slow. I was able to take this hostess home that night ... but not without a barfine. At least it was a reasonable one.

Actually, I remember it like "What choo naaaaame? Where you come fruuuum?" Usually followed closely by "Where you go? I go wit choo!"

Gullivers has tons of freelancers and is sorta a sportsbar I guess. As to the hostesses-- I was referring to the pool halls where the girls are 90% at least employed by the house not freelancing.

Geez! You guys really want to know where to pick up girls!I just gave an example and Murazaki thinks I havn't been anywhere!
Once you get the guts to be a good actor, Go for the malls if you care to take that jump. The emporium, All the Central Department Stores! Robinson's on Sukhumvit/Soi 19 for cryin out loud. Just make sure you only get one from each store as they all talk to each other. I got in trouble at Isetan by world trade. But that is another story.

Also another hint. the prettiest ones work by the cosmetic sections and the Female clothing sections. Just say you are looking for something for your sister back home! In broken Thailish...Combination Thai/English.
