Broke my eye glasses the other day. I always travel with a spare pair so I was not in dire straights. However when I got off the sky train at Radchathewi Station heading for Panthip Plaza I found my self in a district chock full of optical shops. I ordered a pair of prescription sun glasses thinking I could make use of some specialty specs and would then have a spare pair. Sunglasses after dark are better than no glasses at all.
Lens were 1200baht frames 1500 to 4000. I had always wanted a pair of Bausch&Lohme Aviator stlye sunglasses for seakayaking and had been told that it couldn't be done back in the states. They had then made for me in Bangkok in 3 hours for $85 USD. I've been wearing them now for two days and am pleased.
