The Woraburi on Sukhumvit Soi 4 is located about a 3-4 minute walk from Sukhumvit / NEP. It's 200 yards (rough guess) down from the Omni. For me, I didn't find it too hard to walk from the Woraburi to Sukhumvit / NEP, but I was there in November when it wasn't rainy or too unbearably humid.

The hotel offers free tuk tuk from the hotel to Sukhumvit / NEP. If you can't walk back to the hotel, it'll cost about 40 baht via meter taxi or 20 baht by tuk tuk.

The Woraburi is five stories tall plus a ground floor. The hotel has a feeling of a beach resort hotel. Everything is open air with no air conditioning in the lobby, bar, or restaurant. Like a beach resort hotel, all the flooring is tile which makes it easier to keep clean but noisy.

I stayed in their smallest room, a Superior for 900 baht. The rooms are air conditioned, but the room's electricity is controlled by placing the key stick in the control. If you leave the room and take your key, all the electricity including the A/C shuts off. The A/C is powerful. I had to set it at it's lowest setting to keep from freezing.

The Superior room is small, but a good value for 900 baht. If you're on a tight budget of 1,000 baht or less and you can't get into the Nana or Dynasty, the Woraburi is a good choice. If you can afford to pay more, the Duluxe, the Junior Suite, the Suite, or the Woraburi Suite are real nice.

The bed was queen size with a very firm mattress which I like.

On a negative side, no bedside lamp, no hair dryer or dresser (at least in my room). The Deluxe rooms and above, I believe, have those amenities.

The hotel has a nice, but small pool, on the top floor with a bar. I found this to be a nice feature of this hotel.

The hotel clientele is primarily European especially those with girlfriends or wives.

The rate includes a daily free buffet breakfast. I thought I'd never say this, but it isn't as good as that offered by the Nana Hotel. The breakfast at this hotel is pretty basic with the same limited selection.

The hotel's desk staff is friendly. It's also guest friendly.

During my stay, I did have one annoying problem. The previous guest who stayed in my room must have given out his room number to every bargirl in Bangkok. At 2 a.m., the phone would ring from bargirls wanting to come to the room. I couldn't convince them that I wasn't whom they were calling.

Anybody else stayed here? 900 baht sounds like a nice price. I can only see one pic of a room on the website, and it's obviously a much higher priced suite.

Two attractive features: A pool and in-room safe.

I stayed in a 'deluxe room' in January for 1,200 baht. It was on the 5th floor down from the pool. It was larger than the 1,000 baht Standard room only by a 10' x 6' elevated hardwood platform. My girl explained that some people like sleeping on hard floors.

The pool was nice, but the 1st floor bar never seemed to have any lady action. I didn't see any in-room safes ...only safety deposit boxes with the reception.

i have stayed at the woraburi twice and recommend it highly . courteous staff , some of whom i will try to entertain next trip .

no inroom safe , deposit boxes at reception , guest friendly , variety of room prices according to size , hotel tuk-tuk .

tailor , hairdresser , internet cafe , tourist shop all on premises and a top floor pool and bar area .

walls could do with a scrub , but a comfortable affordable ,friendly place to party

Guys say that the bar and resturant is OK too. Did you eat there? I have and found the food OK and the staff friendly. A great alternative if you are struggling for a room. Right on Soi Nana with motorcycle taxis right next door. BTW how much was your room per night?

By Piglet_j on Monday, January 09, 2006 - 08:13 pm:  Edit

dave , the restaurant is very good with about 50 dishes on the menu .predominantly thai cuisine but also caters for western tastes with steak , burgers and club sandwiches . also a fair pasta selection . breakfast is imho also good .

i stayed in one of the larger suites at 2100 baht per night but only because last portion of visit was honeymoon - huge rooms . also the standard room 900-1000 , deluxe - 1350 , and up as rooms get larger .

once again cant fault the staff - very friendly and gets better when you drop the occasional 20 baht in the tip jar .

Hi

From reading the above i assume the last time somebody stayed here was January 2005.

I have booked a room for February 2006 through asianrooms web site and the confirmation email has small print that says any joiner fee is 3,500 baht and the joiner can not use the facilities.

Has anybody stayed here recently and can they confirm if they had to pay a joiner fee?

Thanks.

Piglet j

Thanks very much for the reply. I have already booked it through asian rooms, however the part saying all visitors, joiners are subject to 3,500 baht extra charge is on the email from asian rooms and not on the voucher that i have to show at hotel when checking in.

The room is booked for 2 people and if you have just stayed there with no problems i assume i should be alright, the reception/security are hardly likely to check how i booked each time i come and go.

Many thanks.
