The following TripReport snippet is taken from 2003/12 Merlin - Spending the Holidays In Cambodia

PHONTAMEI (IN KHMER) OR CHICKENVILLE

Chicken village is a real shit-hole, go there in the afternoon and early evening, it would be spooky to go after dark. It's about 15-20 minute drive out of town. Mostly country girls here with few lookers, but found myself a few to sample anyways. Very pleasant demeanor with the girls here for some reason.

One mans shit-hole is another mans paradise. LOL. OK, so chicken village is pretty third world but I totally loved the place. There are at least 50 houses. Most are Khmer and have as few as 2 or as many as 10 girls working at them. I was able to find 4 Vietnamese houses as well, maybe there are more. I found the conditions most delightful but most would describe it as dirty and run down. The houses were typically wooden structures with the girls sitting in chairs out front waiting for punters. Inside there are short time rooms that most would describe as pretty bad. Walls made of cardboard and such. Watch your step too because the wood plank floors often have holes you might fall through. (assuming there is a floor a few of them had dirt floors). I totally loved the place.

During the day you can tell the houses because there will be a number of girls sitting around out front waiting for customers. At night they all have pinkish fluorescent "red lights" to identify the houses.

The venue was typical of all the Cambodian brothels I visited. You are invited in. The girls line up and you pick which ones you want to fuck. I was paying $5 for short time and $20 for overnight but probably $3 for short time and $15 for overnight is possible. They ask for more but don't bargain. Make your offer and if they won't accept politely act as if you are going to leave.

And right in the center of Chicken Village is Biba nighclub.

WOW and I thought Angeles City was a shithole. Angeles looks like Las Vegas compared to this...very cool.

Wait until you see the brothel district in Koh Kong then. LOL. Pretty much the whole town of Koh Kong looks like that except maybe cleaner. The brothel district outside of Koh Kong is similar only the road is much worse and there are fewer buildings. You can't really compare it to Angeles City. Apples and Oranges type thing.

A significant portion of Chicken Village has been bulldozed to make room for expansion of the port facilities. None the less most of it is still intact and still going strong.

This time I was only paying $4 for short time. They ask for $5 but dropped to $4 real easy. I'm not even any good at bargaining. I bet they would go for $3 for a tougher bargainer. I paid $12.50 each (2 for $25 package deal) for long time in my hotel. I was ask for $20 each but held tight at $25 for two and didn't have much problem at all getting two ladies for the night at that price. Very good service too. Cute but not the best lookers of the trip. Standard Walmart style money back return policy. "Yum yum good. Boom boom good. You no like, you no pay". Two ladies actually tried to give me back my money when I took them for a quicky short time session about 20 minutes before I had to rush off to catch the ferry. They did a great job but as I got up and started dressing so soon because I had to catch the ferry on time, they misunderstood and thought I was leaving prematurely because I was not enjoying the session. I paid them $4 each, tipped them $1 and went to get on my motorcycle, quite satisfied. They followed me out to the road and handed back my money very apologetically. I had to say "good ladies" and smile allot to get them to accept the money.

They usually attempted to upsell to two ladies. "You take two lady. Good lady. You no like, you no pay. Two lady, OK?". Such an effective sales pitch. They got me every time with that one.

It's still a shithole by most peoples standards. Dirty, cardboard walled ST rooms in tin sheds. It's about as third world as it gets but oh what fun I had.

Went here 2010 still there and places are still charging $5.
