Manhattan Hotel, Sukhumvit Soi 15, Bangkok. I booked thru www.asiatravel.com for about 950 bhat per night for a double, including brekafast daily. If you book a double, the place is guest friendly.
The hotel is located about 50 meters off Sukhumvit, past a couple of annoying tialor/luggage shops. For now, request a room facing Soi 15 ... otherwise you will be awken daily to the sound of hotel construction where the old Clinton Plaza once sttod. You also need to bokk and insist upon a king bed, as they try to pawn off their 2-twin bed rooms.
The rooms are a good size and clean. Basic two to three star accomodations. Includes a fridge/minibar and a very large in-room safe (suitable for holding a laptop). AC works great, and does not turn off when you remove the key from the holder near the door (the lights are on this switch though). Also has a TV (very limited channels, but who cares), OK bath with tub/shower, desk area, a couple of non-descript chairs, carpeted floors. Saw lots of package tour people there, just a few punters with their tilacs.
Overall, I prefer this place over the Nana Hotel or the Dynasty. The rooms are cleaner, and the hotel ahas a nicer, less "in-your-face" feel to it. Close enought to Nana and Cowboy (walking distance) without being too close. Food at breakfast was quite good. Overall, a good value in the 1000 baht & under category of hotels.

Be aware that construction is currently ongoing here on both front and back of Manhattan (Jan, 2004). Work starts at 7am and can continue until midnight. Woke me up many mornings and broke my afternoon siestas.

Man this place must have gone through a change since I stayed there. They were not guest friendly and I took a girl in there anyway and they charged me extra. I will never stay there again as the room had ants and was not very good. They had families everywhere when I was there last year.
