Every time I travel I always think if the place I am visiting is also a place I may want to live for an extended period of time.
Bangkok, Pattaya, Buenos Aires, and Rio all made the list. Santiago, Santo Domingo and Sao Paulo didn’t and neither did Nogales or TJ.
That brings us to Angeles and Manila. Angeles is probably a no; however Makati is a possibility. It is the only possibility in Manila I can see. Manila is pretty much a shit hole, but Makati is like an oasis in the barren desert that is Manila.
Makati is clean and modern and seems like an overall decent place. I noticed signs advertising apartments for 20,000 pesos a month. That is only about $363 US per month. No idea how big of an apartment that is, but I think I would need something along the lines of a Grand President Royal Suite in size (about 50 square meters) to be comfortable. I would also need high speed internet, probably at least 768k, but 512k may suffice although I would prefer something above 1 mbit.
I need the place I live in to be clean and modern. Other than that I am not too picky. So I think Makati could be a place I could live for an extended period of time. Then I could hit Angeles one or twice a month to break things up a bit.
