Hi folks!
I am new to the club.
I am in process of finalizing first trip to Thailand/Bangkok.
Have a boatload of points that I can use that the above referenced hotel, but would like to know if that is a good location for being close to the "hot spots" and is guest freindly.
I am also considering asking ZenBuckaro to assist me for three days on my trip, which he thinks could be done.
Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.
Thanks

For anyone else interested in SGS, I though the hotel quality was fantastic. Pretty much 5 stars. It's girl friendly too. Don't worry about the guard standing near the elevators at the Rivas enterance; he's just there to make sure at least one of the people going up looks like they belong there.
The spa kicks ass too, and the food is good as well. But it's so overpriced I, personally, would just walk outside and eat elsewhere.

John,
How much did you per night at the Sheraton?
Did you use the In-house massage service?
Thanks!

The Sheraton is walking distance to Soi Cowboy (Asoke Soi 21) (right) is perhaps 5 minutes walk and Nana Plaza (Soi 3) (left) is 10-15 minutes
It's opposite Robinsons Department store (right and over the walk way) ...
Follow the road down left on Robinson's side for all the street market stalls ...
The BTS overhead train is right (Asoke Station) go one stop in the direction of On Nut and shop at Emporium (great menswear)
It's a really great hotel - pricey though except for business or a points stay ...
Breakfast is great outside near the pool ...
You can bypass the Rivas entrance --- walk up the driveway to the side entrance and yes, the guy on the lookout is just making sure everything's "legit" - just smile politely and say "sawadee kap" - no problems there ...
Just remember to book yourself as a double (there's no extra charge for double versus single) ...

On my three trips to Bangkok I stayed only at 5 star hotels. Those being Marriott, Sheraton, and the Westin. Of those three Sheraton was easily the nicest. In fact it is the nicest hotel I have ever personally stayed at in my life. The attention to detail was incredible. I especially liked it when I walked in the room with a hot little go go girl and put my key card in the slot and the lights came on properly dimmed and the stereo came on pretuned softly playing love songs just like something out of a James Bond movie. The effect on the girl was amazing and the whole thing pretty much set the scene for one of the awesomest GFE sessions ever. They set all that up without me asking when they fixed up my room while I was out barhopping. Little details like that really make it nice.
No guest problems. When I brought in a girls the doorman treated them with the same high level of courtesy and respect he treated me.
I booked this hotel on by bidding for a 5* hotel Suhkumvitt area on priceline.com and I think it was around $85 a night total. I also got Marriott and Westin on priceline.com so if you bid for a 5* hotel you will wind up with one of the three.

I too stayed at the SGS, but followed a piece of tail off the SkyTrain into the Westin (she worked there). So I decided to check out the rooms at the Westin and personally found it hipper than the SGS. So I checked out of the SGS and into the Westin, they even sent a bellhop and their Starwood Preferred Guest Manager over to get my bags. The GM at the Westin is a cool British expat who treated my and my Soi 33 honey to cigars and scotch in the lobby bar...no sweat on bringing in the honeys!

I've stayed at both many times, and prefer Westin for the sheer fact that it is less points to get a room.
On the downside, amenities like coldbar items, internet, etc are $$$.
