The following TripReport snippet is taken from 2004/06 Xenono – Getting Happy in Hong Kong, Madness in Macau, and Titillated in Thailand
Spasso Disco
Lower Lobby of the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok
494 Rajdamri Road
Bangkok 10330
Thailand
Here is a virtual tool of the restaurant as it appears during the day.
http://www.bangkok.grand.hyatt.com/bangh/virtual_tour_c.html
It starts every evening at 10 pm except on Sundays.
Roth and I walked through the hotel’s main lobby and to the elevators. As soon as we got close to the elevator, we were approached by a hotel staff member. He started with, “excuse me, sir.” I would assume that a nice hotel like the Grand Erawan probably not a “no guest” policy or at least wanted her to check in. I just pointed downstairs and said “Spasso.” He let us in the elevator, but pressed the LL button to make sure we went down.
The lower lobby at the Grand Erawan is at street level, but I didn’t know that and I didn’t know there was an entrance to the hotel at the street level. So when we arrived we just walked up the ramp to the main lobby and took the elevator down.
Wallstreet met us near the elevators in front of Spasso to inform us that the plans had changed once again. It turned out that both Da and Nueng LOVED Spasso and wanted to stay, even though Wallstreet wanted to head to Onze on Soi 11 instead. Wallstreet explained that he was completely disgusted with the freelancers working the bar and was hoping for a more “Thai” experience overall. The bar was too westernized for his tastes. The freelancers were dressed quite nicely, but were old and kind of skanky looking. Wallstreet also observed that the place seemed to be filled with clueless American businessmen that were on expense accounts and probably had no idea that massage parlors, Nana Plaza, or Soi Cowboy even existed and were just a short distance away.
I figured we give the place a try and decided to head in. I went to pay the cover when Wallstreet mentioned that we came in behind the desk that was setup to collect cover charges and that we could probably just walk right in. And we did walk right in without a problem. So there is a tip for you. If you want to avoid the cover charge at Spasso Disco, enter through the hotel lobby and take the elevator downstairs to the lower lobby. Don’t enter the lower lobby from the street.
Once inside I noticed just how packed the place really was. It was pretty hard to move around. Then I started noticing what Wallstreet had already observed. There was one 50 year old Jamaican woman there with dreadlocks. And then there were tons of white chicks hanging out there with their boyfriends or husbands. It was kind of weird and creepy. It really didn’t seem like the freelancing pickup place I thought it to be. I honestly believed Wallstreet and I were with the two best looking women in the place.
I said hi to Da and Nueng and introduced them to Roth. Roth then immediately hit me up for some dancing. I quickly downed a few drinks and then hit the floor. Roth was incredibly sexy on the dance floor. She always danced as close to me as possible and was grinding up against me almost the entire time. It was pure heaven and she was a little ball of energy. The band played a variety of music and was excellent. Thank goodness I didn’t have to suffer through a Thai band’s version of “Where is the love?”
I was having a pretty good time there. I think it was probably due to the company I was with and no so much the bar. I would have been pissed if I had gone there to find a date, but as a club to take a date to I thought the place was pretty cool. So barfining Roth from the Dollhouse turned out to be a stroke of good luck for me.

"Spasso" is tha shizzy! I booked my first stay in BKK (11/2003)at the Grand Hyatt just because of the bar. My first night in BKK I met my "GF" Benz-Girl there. They book some great bands, no cover charge, great food and drink and a good selection of cigars. I took my LT BF there (5/2005) and we had a blast drinking, dancing and dfk'ing at the table.
There was MUCH free ass in there as well...always is. It's a perfect "date" bar/dance club, and a good freelancer/"normal" girl pickup spot. I can't say enough good things about this place, I visit every time I hit town!

Just hit Spasso a few weeks ago and it nothing's changed. Took ywo "normal" girls who work in MBK and they loved the food, dancing and atmosphere. Many "overpriced" ho's in attendance asking 5000thb for ST! They were cute, but nowhere near as hot as Angel Witch girls.
Regardless, the band rocked and much fun was had by all!
