El Gato,
Any hotel recommendations in Makati? I've only stayed at the Century Citadel in Makati right down the street from most of the bars/clubs. It's been nice everytime I've stayed there. Studios are about $40, 1 Bedrooms are about $60. They're almost like little condo suites.

Is there anything else that's less in price but still decent accomodations?

BTW, how are the bars in Pasay City? Any recommendations? And the area around Ermita, is there any girlie clubs/bars?

Sorry, but I've only been to PI once. Spent 3 nights in Angeles, 2 on an island called Palawan, and 1 night in Makati. Had I known what I know now, I probably would have spent equal time in Angeles and Makati, if not more time in Makati. The expense would have been greater, but I'm very picky and found the talent better in Makati.

Good places are all over Maniala. If you stay in Makati, I think Citadel is a good buy. I never pay more than $35 for a nice room there. Try to book it from www.asiatravel.com. I prefer to stay in Ermita area while I'm in Manila. There are many good restaurant on Adriatico St. as well as some nice night club. Executive Plaza is a nice new hotel. At current exchange rate, $30 for a very nice room. Their phone# (63-2)523-1000. I prefer this area over Makati since everything is more densly located. For a newbie, Maybe Makati is easier.

Just got back, started out in Manila for a couple days. Along Manila Bay in from the US Embassy I stayed at Palm Plaza for 1,500 ($30), but a brand new hi-rise with free ($8) breadfast, great pool, next to a HUGH new Robinson shopping center full of teenagers is the Manila Midtown. I think they have a similar sale price available for the asking. It would be the best place in Ermita, the older part of Manila. See "Beeline travel" or "asia travel" for info.

I stayed at the City Gardens in Makati in March and for about $50 you got a very nice room. Great service and only 1 block away from Burgoss (sp)Street where all the main bars are located. Try to book on Asia travel site for the discounted rooms.

Call the hotel directly for better rates. They don't ask for credit card info. I would recommend confirming your reservation few days before arrival.

Cheers,

Good PI travel agent website with info about hotels in Manila. Can book the rooms for you as well, often at a discount. The owner is a prominent figure in AC:

Can someone tell me how far the Tiara Oriental is from the ESDA complex? Is it within walking distance or do we need to take transportation? I'm deciding whether I should stay at the Copacabana or the Tiara Oriental. Any info would be appreciated.

Not walking distance to Edsa, it's about a 20-30 min. taxi ride depending on traffic. I don't think Tiarra is near Burgos either, if I were you, I'd stay at Oxford Suites or Copacabana, both are walking distance to burgos st or edsa, respectively.

My rule of thumb is if a hotel, no matter how nice, is not written up on this or other site, not worth taking a risk on girl policy or convenience.

Does anyone have any input as to how "guest" friendly the Hyatt Casino Hotel in Manila is? Going in June and need a nicer hotel in Manila or Makati. Thanks for any feedback.

I've never stayed at the Hyatt Casino, but I've stayed at the Peninsula and the Mandarin a number of times each. They are all priced about the same. From what I've read, the Hyatt is in a lousy location, while the other two is right in the middle of Makati.

Both were also guest friendly, although you stick out a little more at the Peninsula because of the lengthy "walk of shame." The Mandarin has a much smaller lobby. In any case, I recommend both, although I don't think there are any "real" 5 star hotels in Manila. But for about $100/night (often including breakfast), not a bad way to go.

Kenh70 - I've stayed at the Hyatt Casino on my past 2 trips to Manila and I recommend it highly.
i don't agree with the previous message that it is in a lousy location as for mongers I reckon it is close to perfect!! Very girl friendly, with all the 5 star extras you expect like in room safe, bar, dvd, pool, gym, sauna, cafes and good room service. Of course its not cheap - about $100 US per night.
The big advantages are that it is only 2 blocks from LA Cafe, G Point and a host of other bars. Also only a block away from Robinsons Mall.
What else could you want?
Enjoy
Pete

Anyone has any experience with Dusit Nikko? I don't see anyone mentioning it.
