Wow Bahtman, Great pics and great quality. Man I feel like a rank amatuer. Oh well, I'll just stick to my user friendly digital

Bahtman and I both use user friendly digital cameras - they are just significantly BIGGER then most. We shoot with the Canon 20D. He prefers zoom lenses while I shoot almost exclusively with fast primes. We also travel with external, freestanding flashes. These make a sigNIFICANT difference...
Here's a few pics I took with my camera from this last trip. These are all taken with flash in my room at Central Park Hotel. There's a bit of a "pink" cast to them - that's the color of the walls in their rooms:

Cool. I don't know that my little Sony Cybershot accessorizes. It is nice in that it shoots video and pics at 7.2 megapixels though
and also has a 1 gig chip (they told me that in 6 months there will be a 2 gig chip out!
Val
There is a small, external flash available for the Sony Cybershots that will allow you to move the light around your room a bit.
Personally, I gave up on Sony products a while back. Yes, they have a VERY intuitive user interface, but they paired it with exPENSIVE batteries, even MORE expensive memory, fair to poor CCDs, slow startup, fairly high failure rates and pricey repairs. Still, I used Sony DSCs for the first 18 months I traveled before upgrading to the Canon OES 300D, then eventually the Canon 20D and Canon SD20.

Epi those are SUBLIME shots. Val You got an awesome camera and you'll get all the shots with that baby and you can easily introduce it into any shooting environment. The bigger cameras give you a better chance to get action and low light shots. Another big advantage is the speed with which is will focus. I meet so many women in my travels and I love to capture those moments and share them with my fellow travelers. A couple more beautiful Thai ladies just for the CH gang.

Dam Bahtman, she it totally hot! Go Dog!
I have noticed that the quality of your eye is not limited to photography, but extends into the quality of material as well. Nice Shots!
Ditto for me B-man. Both of those girls are hot, and I love the composition and light in the second one, on the bed. Where was the top one taken? A society ball or something?

Hi Murasaki, I've traveled in some different circles after being there so much and met some beautiful women. The photo you asked about was a social before an event. Below is another Thai sweetheart who just had a look that totally turned me on. Val I think every guy has his dream girl and goes for that type mostly. I seem to run the spectrum and one day its big boobs and the next day its a spinner. I try to make the lady look as beautiful as possible with my choice of light and the angles I shoot her at. My camera has a video out and I usually it up to the TV in the room and let the girl or girls see the first few shots to get them in the mood then Ill switch it to some thai music and turn it down so its not distracting and then Ill let them see some shots from the camera display as I continue the discovery process of how to capture the girl and the mood and the moment.

Bahtman. The video out idea is brilliant. I never thought of that. I'll have to give that a try!
I just got my Sony Cybershot DSC-P200 today. I'll be posting pictures in early April. Hopefully it will work out as well as my last digital camera did. Time will tell, but I'll definately put it to the test... If it fails -- I'll ebay it baby!
You perverts! You sickos! I love CH!

Another twist as I head to the short time room with a great pair of legs. She was Intense. I see her and cant get enough. I don't plan out a lot of the shots but I can see them coming and when I saw those long legs walking down the hall I just stopped and got ready to get the shot.
Photo: Assets 40
Hmmm - what Soi 6 bar did you find her in...?
E
Hmmm, I think her inner thighs look a little dry in this shot. I will have to come over there and lick them a while
V
And? You're just going to stop THERE? Come on, do a Paul Harvey and give us the rest of the story. Visually of course.

Hey Everyone,
Here are some images of Hollywood Strip Rock & roll in Nana Plaza, Bangkok (hopefully I up-loaded them correctly) Great bar to hang out in and decent Happy hour drinks for 95 Baht instead of the standard 125 Baht. Lots of ungrades in Hollywood with new seating, sound system, lighting system etc. Check it out if you get the chance you will not be disappointed.

Just thought I would say hi to all you guys stuck back in the US and elsewhere boring. Tailand is lovely. The architecture is fabulous. Here is a picture of a model of Ankor Wat found in the compound to The Temple of the Emerald Buddah.

Another humorless prick on the board. All we need.
Wow, on the board less than 2 months and he's already flaming people. I hope this doesn't mark the return of someone from the past.
Dear Admin, are the two "Freeze Girl" photos I posted up going to be sent to the safe area? Just wondered as they have been posted up for ages. Just for your information...
Jokerman, I think you will find it better to be civil and enjoy the site. Chill out big guy!

Hi
i have seen a Fuji F450 digital camera for £ 169 sterling (11,492 baht). A couple of people advised me to wait until i am in Thailand to buy a camera, cheaper. This camera is nice and small (fit in pocket nicely), 5.2m pixels, 3 x optical zoom.
Would i get it cheaper in Thailand and where is the best place to buy this and memory cards?
I will also post this in Photography. Thanks for your help.
By Khun_mor on Saturday, September 10, 2005 - 05:56 pm: Edit
Pete
I can find the same camera online through Pricegrabber.com for $240 including tax and delivery. That's 9,840 baht using 41 baht per dollar- the current rate.
You will NOT find it cheaper in Thailand for reasons I posted in the other section in response to your question.

Ive wound up buying several electronic items in Bangkok and you seem to pay about 15% more. Pantip Plaza is the best place to shop for electronics if you do find yourself there and have to make a purchase. The nice thing about Pantip is the selection. You can find many makes and models of everthing so that you can do a lot of research while youre there for things that you might purchase after returning home. Its a must stop for me every trip to thailand. An Angel from the city of Angels, Bangkok, Thailand

I just saw the announcement and preliminary review for the Sony DRC-R1 on www.dpreview.com. After having recently purchased both a Fujifilm F10 (for intimate garota photography), and the Canon 20D (with a bunch of lenses) for the rest, I am wondering whether the R1 would make a good intermediate camera to travel with when I'm not quite up to lugging around the 20D and lenses. I really had hoped to put a cap on photography spending, but the R1 looks like it may be too good to pass up. What are others thinking, and most particularly the "real photographers" (Bahtman, Epi, etc.) about this new entry, supposedly to be released in November?
By Bahtman on Monday, September 12, 2005 - 11:17 am: Edit
I looked at DP Review and The R1 seems like an awesome camera and the price is right. If you buy the R1 you might consider using it instead of the F10 (for intimate garota photography). Once you start to have a passion for your pics it’s hard to put a cap on photography spending. When it comes to shooting in low light areas your Canon 20D will still out perform the R1. If this is of primary importance to you then stick with the 20D. If having a smaller { not by a lot } travel camera is most important then the resolution and overall performance of the R1 should produce very good results.
Pussy is not the only thing you can eat in Thailand.
Not to mention:

Did you tip--or buy some?
By Laguy on Monday, September 12, 2005 - 11:28 pm: Edit
Bahtman: I actually should have said I use the F10 for "intimate intimate garota photography," the kind where you don't have two arms available to hold the camera, or even one to hold a heavy camera. Moreover, I tend to believe those real small cameras (like the F10) are less intimidating to many of my "subjects," although maybe I'm kidding myself about this.
Then again, I have occassionally used the Sony 717 (which the R1 would likely replace) for intimate intimate shots, although not often.
No Hunterman, I just tipptd. Bahtman was standing there with me. In fact he is the one that pointed out the photo op. That was taken right there on Soi 4 between the entrance to NEP and Sukhumvit Rd.

I need some help with a problem I recently had with my 20D. I put it in aperture priority mode and opened the aperture to around 5.6. Had the built-in flash on for the indoor shot, and the flash did trigger. However, the shutter seemed to stay open forever, maybe a full second or so. In contrast when I use these settings outdoors without the flash, no problem. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Incidentally, the above took place in BKK, so I believe I posted this to the right thread :-).
Hi Laguy, thanks for visiting Angelwitch it was good to meet you. I'm pleased you had a good chat with Don Marco. Hope to see you again.
Laguy, here's what I think happened. You were shooting in a dim environment, so at 5.6 you'd probably need a full second exposure to get a good image. Yeah, your flash adds the necessary light so you should have been OK with a much faster speed. However, your camera figures you were using fill flash to pick up the ambient light (balancing the natural light with your flash). Check your manual for more info.
For best results in these situation, go to full manual mode. Set whatever apeture works well for you (but nothing over 5.6 please) and use a shutter speed of ... say, 1/30th or 1/15th sec. I'm assuming you're in kinda close and not shooting telephoto and that you're not staggering drunk. You'll get some great shots this way.
Khunsean, Valterreekian, Justright, Dave, and everyone else, I never get tired of seeing those day-to-day life shots of Bangkok. Keep those images coming boys!

(Freezing my ass off in the prairies and giving serious thought toward buying a Nikon D200)
By Laguy on Friday, November 11, 2005 - 10:09 pm: Edit
Thanks Wombat. What is particularly strange is when I put the camera into "P" mode (i.e., semi-automatic where it picks both the f-stop and shutter speed) it picks the same f-stop--5.6--but the shutter speed is significantly faster than when I manually select 5.6 f-stop in aperture priority mode. I would have thought the camera would have selected the same shutter speed in both instances.
In any event, I may use some faster primes rather than the zoom to see what happens then.

Wombat.. I just ordered the D200 Nikon. Can't wait. Currently using D70.
Laguy.. My brother has the smaller Canon XT DSLR. I can't remember the number, but he has the same problem. I think there is a setting in the flash menu that let's you set the shutter speed for the built in flash. He finally decided to shoot full manual when using flash though. Hope that helps.
AV8--
the D200 is SOLID-- gratz on the fine purchase
I'm still drooling since I read the review of the Canon 5D -- 12.8 megapixels and full field of view images just like 35mm SLR. No more FOV crop !!
Only downside - no built in flash so you have to carry shoe mount flash - not always convenient. Better pics I know but why not have the option of convenience as well ?
$ 3K pricetag is also a bit of a bummer .
Bahtman -- You gonna jump onto this ??

I cannot say my pics are that important to me to blow 3K. That buys a whole pile of pussies

Yeah KM, I pre ordered one and it arrived while I
was gone this last trip. I've shot about 400
pics so far and it is amazing the difference in
having a full frame and the 12.8 meg sensor.
It captures a clear crisp image like I haven't
seen before. I'm going to break it in good this Jan.

I just made the switch from Nikon to Canon.
I picked up the 20d kit for 1k as it was either that or the D70s. For that price it was a no brainer. Will be picking up a nicer lens Canon 85mm f/1.8 in a few months. Will still hold on to the N70 as I have a bunch of lens and flashes for that.
Also have the sony DSC M1 for sticking in my pocket and it takes High quality Mpeg 4 video as well.
I have always enjoyed the pictures you guys take
thanks
Milky

Milky:
For the 20d, you may also want to consider either the Canon 50mm f/1.4 (a great lens) or the Canon 50mm f/1.8 (a great value--budget priced). Given the 1.6 factor (or whatever it is called) on the 20d, the 50mm acts very much like an 85mm mounted on a film camera (you probably already know this though).
I also have the 85mm f/1.8, but use the 50mm much more.
Awesome picture Bahtman !!
I just today made almost 4K on two three team parlays in basketball. The NBA has been easy pickins for betting this year-- very predictable games so far. Just ride Detroit ,Miami ,and San Antonio regardless of the spread-- SO FAR - and your gettin rich.
I just may order the 5D with my ill gotten gains after seeing that pic !!
Anyone want an only slightly used 20D ??

Somehow methinks it may have had more to do with the photographer than the camera :-).
